I think the game would break down trying to resolve decolonization and trying to portray the Cold War struggle. However, for earlier than 1914 stuff, I believe there are some options that support alternate 1914 starts based on decisions of the players. Cant say much on that.
Yes there is an optional rule to modify the 1914 starting details (modestly). Another option lets you accelerate past 1914 and begin play later on if you prefer.
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! I hear ya! Thanks for the enlightening video. I pre-ordered it as soon as it was announced. Now to get some of my backlog of games to play out of the way before this one arrives. :>)
Thanks for doing this Steven (and good job on the last name pronunciation). The BGG page as noted in the video has lots of Q&A so please check that out.
I've known "Lerch" since WiFcon '97 and am super-looking forward to this. Harry started spreading rumours about back in the early 2000's - so happy it is finally coming.
Thanks Russ. The WiF team were talking about a variety of alternate history scenarios way back when. Lightning Strikes will bring together the ability to play any of them, as well as create a zillion others, in a WiF-like environment.
I recall seeing this on Compass Games's preorder page and although the premise was interesting I've assumed it's a very high level game. Somehow I've missed the connection to WiF completely. Now it's definitely on my radar😁
I cant say much here but ill suggest that they will likely be much more in alignment with the way the WiF rules are written. And I quite like the WiF rules conveyance.
Almost 3 minutes in and I don't know what this game is. Bottom Line UP Front. I don't have time to watch a 40 minute video on a subject I may or may not be interested in. I have played wargames since 1977. I love wargames, but I haven't the time to waste watching a bunch of rambling.
Within the first 60 seconds I mention what the game is that is my most anticipated for 2024. And the video length is clearly communicated in the RUclips interface. Not sure what, exactly, you were looking for but this video must not be for you. No one is forcing you to watch any video on RUclips Mr. Rape but I appreciate the engagement.

This looks really good. Would have been great to see this go from 1900's to 2000's. Got my preorder anyway. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Thanks for highlighting this, I hadn't seen it before. It looks amazing and I'll start looking into it! You deserve a finders fee!
I'd be happy to have my game sent first haha

Prior game was officially called Blitz! A World in Conflict btw.

Interesting. I hope the rules are more clear than the blitz rules. I struggled a bit with them. I need to try them out again.

Oh dear, I can see another pre-order coming .....

@@russellcraft7269 You actually have something to contribute? No. Then let the adults talk.
