As usual, very well done - thanks!
Double six dice! Those are awesome.
Thanks for the video. Looking forward to playing this someday, for now will watch yours.
Yes! I finally got myself a copy of vol1. It's in the mail. They are hard to come by in NL. US mailing is very costly... so now I need to find myself a vol. 2😅! Enjoying your playthrough to help me through the learning curve. And sattisfy the anticipation waiting for my own copy. Thanks big time!
Hi and thanks for the kind comment - sorry I didn't get to finish it! It is an expensive game (especially with shipping to your part of the world) but there is a ton of play in the box. Enjoy!
Found one. Only one country away in Belgium. Getting it today!
Just purchase Volume 1 & 2, looking forward to playing. Thanks for sharing the play thru, always a fun watch. =)
Great video! It takes a bit to get your mind around the rules (for me anyway), but eventually it all just makes sense and the turns happen pretty quickly. I really enjoy how it can feel a little like you're playing through a WW2 movie - creates a great story I can really imagine seeing as the turns unfold...
Same here, really enjoying it!
I can only imagine how much time and effort goes into producing these playthrough videos, so thank you! They are very helpful in finding games to add to my wishlist.
The components look really sharp. I wonder if the enemy AI gets "smarter" after spotting the friendly units, so I'll have to watch your later videos to find out. 😉
Thank you Steve! 👍
Really enjoying this. I never really though this was a solo game so i passed on it. Seeing this video, I definelty picking this up. Good thing it’s available now ha. Ty so much!
I love this game and look forward to the rest of the playthrough. Thanks for doing a video on it.
I bought this on release (vol 1) and almost gave up on it. The AI was playing really oddly and made no sense. It turned out that there was an unfortunate error in the set-up instructions for the 1st mission. The compass was pointed at the wrong hex.
Glad you enjoy it! Yep, most of the errata has been sorted. You can download the latest rule book from the Compass website.
Great video for a great solo tactical game!
Thank you! 👍
Nice video. This is my favorite solitaire tactical game.
Thank you Clifton!
Nice job, appreciate the video. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Looks like fun. Just pre-ordered Vol. 3
I'm looking forward to that as well!
I purchased a laser thanks for the tip
Great vid just ordered volume 3
I'll hopefully be getting this as well! 👍
great video!
Thank you!
Great look at the game as always. Where did ya get that 12 sided 6 sider i love it. I always feel like 6 sided dice dont roll very well.
Hi Timothy, sorry for the late reply. These dice are called 'Double 6'. I'm in the UK so I got mine from thediceshoponline.com
Bought the game last year, never played. Watching your excellent video convinced me I will never play, to complicated for my old brain.
Hi and thanks for the kind comment. All I can say is, if I can understand it anybody can. You should give it a go.
@@RoughSwordsmanWargamer I prefer Old School Tactical I play solitaire. But i might give this one a go sometime
I read the rules, but didn't notice this until watching this video and watching you do it. The Spotting modifiers seem completely opposite to what they should be. You want to roll low, but you get negative modifiers the further you are away? And if the target's in the open, they get a positive modifier (making them harder to spot)? That doesn't make sense. I actually thought you were doing it wrong, but then looked at the rules and realized that it's the rules/spotting modifiers that are weird.
Great playthrough so far! I have the game but haven't played it yet.
Or are the modifiers applied to the Troop Quality and not the roll? I just figured that out, I think. Wish I had the game with me to double check that!
👍 😉
That was enjoyable, will it go as far as turn seven? Like the map and counters & looking forward to part two. Many Thanks.
Hope to - depends how long I survive!
How can a game called 'Combat!' not have it's GI Sergeant named Saunders?!
Nice to see you using card sleeves Rough. Interesting looking game but seems like a lot of dice rolling. Is this a solitaire specific game? Seems like it to me. I really should have watched an unboxing on it. Well I just paused to go check out your unboxing and it is a solitaire game! I really need to get my self a laser pointer! That is a tool I do not have in my arsenal for wargaming. Interesting looking game. Are you enjoying playing it Rough?
Hi nordic! Always use sleeves for my games as it keeps them safe from wear and tear! Yes, dice are used for most things in the game (combat, troop quality checks etc) although there are a lot of decisions to be made (movement of friendlies and their orders for example). Lots of replayability with the 'bag of baddies', their orders and direction of movement. As you can tell, I'm enjoying it!
As do I. I recently sold most of my Magic the Gathering collection and it freed up hundreds of Dragon shield sleeves which are some of the best in the world. Thinking of replacing the sleeves on the Napoleon's Last Gamble card decks I have. That bag of baddies does seem like a great mechanic. That is all that matters! If we don't enjoy the games that is no fun. I got the shipping notice and Under the Southern Cross is on its way. I definitely need to get some playing done from Flying Colors. @@RoughSwordsmanWargamer
How do you pull them from the bag without seeing what's on the front side?
Great question! The back of the counter has a rougher edge than the front so I feel the edges before I pull them out of the bag.
@@RoughSwordsmanWargamer ah thank you!
You should first turn place the cubes as you move second turn remove the cubes as you move......save a bit of time..
Was that a bit of Garand thumb there Rough?
Lol, nothing so exciting - caught it in the door!
