Truth! Once you get to the 2hour point, it really takes off and is such a fulfilling experience. Best new game I've played in a long time Im glad ppl are enjoying DD2, but so glad I ignored the haters and got Ronin. Pure fun the whole way through
I seriously regret dropping £70 on this game. It’s janky, clunky, and looks like a game made 10yrs ago. That said it is kind of fun. Combat is good. Stealth is fun but basic. AI is basic. Enemies are tethered to their spawn points so they don’t chase you far. But £70 is a lot of money. No game is worth that.
Awesome video brother. Saw a lot of people saying the combat is a step down from Wo Long. I love team ninja and Nioh 2 is one of my favourite games ever. Wo Long was obviously a step down from Nioh (not as many options to attack and defend during combat) but was still a good combat system especially because it is balanced enough for pvp. It looks like the flux mechanic is back so you can keep offence going or swap stances for different special moves and stuff. That alone is big for me and gives me hope that the combat is still as great as team ninja always makes them
Glad you enjoyed, my friend. Honestly, it's a bit hit-or-miss, mainly because of how difficult it is to memorize every stance in order to be consistent. But there is depth here. It's a good system. Not NiOH 2, but still good.
Loving this ronin wish we had more shinobi suits to dive into but other then that people wanted ghost and got tenchu gaiden and are still mad about it great vid very helpful on stances to use amazing work
@@MistaFiOth Since you gave permission, heh. What do the difficulties change in the game? Is it just damage numbers/enemy health? Do enemies really....block or parry? In the gameplay I've seen, enemies just kinda eat a combo, then getting parried, then eat another combo. They seem to be a bit damage spongey too.
@shadowofthehitokiri5787 the higher the setting, the more DMG they can take and dish out. I play on Twilight and can barely get a combo in, they usually have very solid defenses. They can, indeed, be spongy though, as you said. Overall, combat has its flaws and takes some getting used-to, but is ultimately rewarding. If you like previous TN games and don't mind the open world, you will enjoy the game.
@@MistaFiOth Ah, that is a little disappointing, I view that kind of difficulty as lazy. It would be different if there were maybe more enemies or both the player and enemies also take more damage from attacks so mistakes are much less advised. The only TN game I played was Nioh 2, loved that game. I tried Woo Long's demo, liked it, but haven't gotten around to getting the full game.
Well, if you ask me, both NiOH games and Wo Long had the basics of combat nailed better than RoTR. Then again, we are talking open-world here, which brings a unique set of challenges.
@@MistaFiOth You are one of only two or three people doing organized, high information content on this game. Thanks for that and for inviting me to the Discord!
When I seen the review I was kinda iffy but I decided to try for myself it’s a great game I feel like people aren’t giving this a fair shot I’m like almost 15 hrs in and I’m enjoying it
The problem with this game is that it's published by SONY. Asking for that kind of money for such a low tech offering created a bad climate around it. If it was 60 euros people would have warmed up on it and it would have done better. Greed caused the mixed reactions.
It's very in depth and people aren't understanding it because it doesn't explain almost anything about advantages and how to have them every time and what the combat triangle is :(
If I had to describe this game in one word....Incredible. To think I almost passed on it. I also purchased Dragon's Dogma II that same day, and it is total donkey water.
@Mista_FiOth I did not think of it that way, but you are absolutely correct. I have since played Dragon's Dogma II a bit more and... maybe donkey water was a bit too far. I said that because I'm very angry with Capcom over this. Had they simply followed the formula of the first game with a few new additions, maybe some quality of life fixes it would be a certified hit. The problem with the first game and Arisen was they released in a very crowded market. Especially during the height of the 7th generation...and it cost them. Thankfully, Arisen did much better in the sales department, which put them in a key position to just take no prisoners with Dragon's Dogma II. Unfortunately, they decided it was more profitable catching whales than it was to reach for critical mass...in a single player only game. Given how badly the game is taking a bath right now (word of mouth), it is possible, they take steps to correct some of their mistakes (only one save, reroll is almost impossible, pay-to-win schemes, can't change first pawn, need to pay real money to revive your second pawn, and having to pay real money for slightly better pawns...). I doubt it, they will just kill the series.
Does anyone know if weapons drop in the categories you use most? I am mostly getting odachi and katana drops. Hoping to get some dual blades, but have only gotten one or two drops. If I switch to that weapon, am I more like to get those drops?

this game is fucking amazing, having a blast..ppl are sleeping on this gem.
It is very good... granted, the AI is totally pathetic and exploitable, but the core of the experience is the combat - and combat, is TN's specialty.

Agreed. I can see where some of the negative feelings stem from, but the game IS good nonetheless.
@LaMOi1 tech-wise, it shouldn't be this expensive. It's SONY's bs, as usual. It is a worthwhile game though. Give it some time.
I am loving this game... and crushing it🙌🏿🙌🏿
Onward, Ronin! 💪
Very well done bro.

Same here! How far in are you?
Bravo. Another one bookmarked for reviewing and soaking in.
My pleasure 😁
Thanks for the very informative video. Keep them coming
Will do, my man! Stay tuned for more!

Thank you so much for the great feedback! TN will probably keep adding stuff, and I'll be here to cover it. Stay tuned. 😁
I reckon this could be worth a look 👍
Haha, ye think?! 🤣
Perfect analysis
Consider me honoured! 😁
Game is amazing and my GOTY so far!
It's good, I'm really enjoying it. Has some apparent weaknesses, but for a studio's first attempt at open-world, it's a success in my book.
Thanks for the video, I definitely learned more about the combat. I'm not 100% sure but I will likely get this game at some point.
If you have any additional questions, feel free my friend.

@Magikarp-yk7io those things are in the in-game tutorials. Others are not though. Thus, the Guide.
This game is fun...I so suprised
It's a TN game. They haven't made a bad one since Ninja Garden 3 on the PS3. Why the surprise?
If I had to describe this game in one word....Incredible. To think I almost passed on it. I also purchased Dragon's Dogma II that same day, and it is total donkey water.
DDII is MUCH harder to get into and it's QoL choices are... Questionable. RoTR is much more user-friendly.

I wholeheartedly agree with all of this. They really shat the bed.
There’s no button to equip stances that I can find
You hold R1 and swap them with the Right Stick. You can have up to three equipped at a time.

Same deal with me. I can't say that it's 100% the case, since we don't have any numbers. If I learn anything, I'll make a community post about it.
Katana and dual swords + shuriken and handgun
just hope this game comes to PC
I'm pretty sure it eventually will. SONY is betting big on the PC crowd lately.
@@MistaFiOth amen to that!
