Yes I heard the difference, Thanks for the demo. I bought the S1 Pro Plus from Guitar Center last week and just got the Bose Wireless Adapter yesterday. Definitely going take the wireless thing back. BUT I'm also considering returning the S1 Pro Plus and getting the EV Everse 8 - think it will have more headroom but I'm not sure. Funny thing is, I'm still waiting on the backpack form Sweetwater, LOL. I wonder if the Everse 8 will fit in the backpack, LOL. That could be the only thing end up keeping.
When the 'pro plus' is mentioned and bragged about from many online advertising sources, the sentence "it's not all about headroom follows" 😆 that speaks volumes! You're not fond of the wireless option then? which is one of the very main selling points of the model.
Great review n good to hear your opinion. I think it’s up to the individual what they want need or can afford. I purchased the pro plus n I’m satisfied because it satisfies my needs. I purchased the wireless mic transmitter n works beautifully. Plus it is really loud n clear n crispy sound. I don’t even bother putting any more bass on because to me it’s just perfect. I don’t like going through menus n that’s just me. Bose sounds great without so much adjusting. I’m sure all these speakers are excellent n will satisfy someone’s needs.
You really made a good point. I have the original S1 Pro. I’ve had it for years and have already purchased a wireless mic system that works perfectly, for much less than the $300 Bose is charging for their 3 wireless add ons to the S1 +.
It’s a KIMAFUN 2.4G Wireless Bluetooth System. I’m a group fitness instructor and it works perfectly for what I need. Been using it for about 3 yrs now. I would think they’ve probably made improvements on it since then. Good luck.
Thank you for your reivew, I hope there was a lot of music compare between them for someone need to know, consider. I were sold S1 pro and chose S1 pro plus because of easy control, lightest.
I have tried them both and the ev has great features, the Bose sound is smooth and better on your ears, has a different way to deliver the sound via and small line array inside the cabinet Infront of the main woofer and this gives it great even projection, for your busk in the street, you don't need to crack it up loud and the noise police will be much happier! But if your a DJ in a party situation with no power and a laptop I know the Ev is going to be louder, so for me EV and Alto are always great for DJs. Bose and Qsc are more for musicians who want clarity and ease of use.
I have the earlier s1 pro version, and it can't be driven loud, or bass needs to be cut to hit a higher volume and then losing some of the sound quality
I've had both since each came out . I findnd the S1 pro to have not nearly enough output- and now just use it in the house. The Everse 8 has much more output, but not nearly what you'd expect when you read the specs as "400 watts". I use it sparingly to fill in sound gaps at my gigs
the bose lack definition in the base. The everse is very clean and clear, it's like you hear exactly your voice when you sing low notes. The bose tend to compress the low and gives a feeling of more reverb, It s a pity cause I love the wireless option
Agree, Bose has rolled off 16Hz high end /EV 20Hz. Even with my $$$ Bose Pro32 high end is beat by $400 Mackie Thump Go?? Is this because Bose doesn't have a tweeter?
I said it several times, buy yourself a usb measuring microphone with a computer you will see the real answer... the paper specifications mean nothing.. and especially human ears.. Maybe you have a weakness so you hear the good frequencies less well and those who have a +4 +6 db boost seem better to you.. An audio technician will have a "flat" configuration and not with an amplified 16-18 khz Me the Bose S1 pro I always found it too aggressive in the treble at high volume so if the EV is even more aggressive I don't like it. Friendly :)
I think you got it right! After playing drums for many years I have lost some hearing sensitivity in the high frequencies. That's why a speaker with +4/+6 boost in the high end sounds better to me! Thank you, Dr. DavidB@@DavidB_AudioTech
I did an AB with the Bose and EV, the Ev was much louder, but not a nice sound, and the stop off was much more than the Bose, the Bose had a much more musical sound and one speaker covers a large area much better than the Ev. As I looked into why this was to be, is because the mini line array inside the Bose Smoothly delivered the sound, while the Ev gives it all upfront but not as nice off to the sides and back. So two different sound patterns to suit your needs. No winner here, both are great.
So glad you're happy with your A/B test, I just wish it was that simple. Due to this model being aimed at performers, this "Plus+" update still lacks phantom power which performers often require. This is where the EV also outperforms this model
@@opaz. I own the Roland street cube ex and have used it on many many gigs its a nice lil box but the stagepass 200 I just got and it sounds incredible. If you get a chance check one out
@@sevalmi8681 Out of the Roland EX and the Yamaha Stagepas 200, the Yamaha sounds way better and has a LOT more useable features for musicians, like compression, a better eq, feedback suppression and way better effects etc
I've had the EV Everse 8 about 2 months, using it as a solo street performer (acoustic guitar and vocals). It's a great speaker, but I find it cumbersome to dial in the desired sound I want, and make changes to the sound quickly with the 1 onboard control knob (I know the mobile app makes things a little easier to do this, but then that's just another piece of gear I have to worry about). I tried the Bose S1 Pro plus today at a store and found it easier to use than the EV. The biggest downside is it's not as loud as the EV, and I'd probably always have the mic volume at 100 percent. I think for my purposes, though, I don't need super loud. The ability to have a compact unit I can just grab and go and setup really quickly, that sounds great, with a wider listening angle (120 degrees, vs 100 degrees with the EV), and I don't need mic/guitar cables, makes this very tempting. I may end up selling my EV8 and getting the S1 Pro +. Thanks for the video.
Nice one Opaz. I would really like to know your thoughts about HK Move 8 against EV Everse 8 based purely on sound. Main use will be DJing. I also want to use it as a monitor when using our larger rig. Obvs the EV is considerably more expensive but is it worth the extra for my use?? PS. I also love wooden boxes!!
Have never compared the two for sound but the EV has more punchy mids & detail if needed while the HK has the warmer sound. For everything I prefer the HK and it gets much more use than the EV If you can, demo both and more options to see which suits your taste
The EV is playing some kind of catch-up ... like it's struggling to maintain some consistency while the BOSE is quite comfortable laying on those thick bass notes. We shouldn't be having any competition until you realize this EV is supposed to have hundreds more in wattage to trounce the Bose.... even in size. Bose is trusted and sets the trends. Bose is a scientific research company that specializes in acoustic engineering and sound development. Others will continue to become what I've coined as, "Fast Food China-Tech" within 3 to 8 years, tops! People also would rather purchase Bose bc it retains and resells at least 80% of it's original value ... even when it's broken. You can sell an empty Bose s1 box for $30 or $40 on any platform. Same with the manuals , receipts etc. etc. I've seen a half inch long SCREW for a Bose speaker sold for 30 DOLLARS on Mercari. I still have the screenshot to prove the point. Bose is like BMW or Mercedes Benz. We all know they're nothing without a high resell market on top of having a record of excellence. The Bose S1 pro+ is a COMPANION SPEAKER. There's no reason not to make it a staple in your repertoire of sound. All it will do is bring legitimacy and style to your whole lifestyle. I just purchased 2 and haven't turned one off in a whole week. lol The frequencies are so pitch perfect that the sound is just more brilliant to listen to.. I can't wait to see the S1 pro+2... Thank you for your insights...
Wish I could agree BUT the Everse 8 "OUTPERFORMS" the S1+ S1+ designed for musicians who often use vocals yet NO PHANTOM POWER onboard Bose resells its brand name. .. not its products
That's a tad myopic. Bose has earned it's place with thousands of items in the marketplace for 60 years or more now. Yes Bose is a Household name in Sports , Music etc etc. Everse should pray for a fraction of that success but Let's not insult the masses over Fast Food Tech from China that no one will remember after a passing scroll while looking for an affordable alternative to a BOSE. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. 🙄
First-your sound test, to put it simply- Bass Coupling Effect which really skews the results. The speakers are sitting flat on a surface which they are not designed to be used as such. The Bose has a decoupling feature when angled upwards. Sitting flat in the clip and in-person observations, its sound has too much bass and not balanced. On a stand or angled as by design, there is no bass coupling effect. Not sure about the EV, but I am sure sitting flat on a surface impacts the tone. Second- Okay, got it, 8 minutes of wireless PA is risky and 5 minutes of don’t like the Bose. The video speaks a lot about possible use by DJ’s. A prospective DJ buyer need only read how the manufacturer presents and promotes these two products on their websites. EV mentions DJ use, Bose does not, unless it’s included in the “and more”. I would say using a Bose for DJ-ing is extreme and possibly was never intended for a DJ from my limited experience with it. I think EV has more use flexibility such as for a DJ, but I still believe any louder sound uses would need a sub. Lastly, you asked the question, what product sound performance a musician would prefer, albeit in a biased manner. The answer is very subjective. IMHO, most would answer accurate and/or pleasingly representative of the instrument or vocals being amplified at the sound level needed.
Is there any difference between s1pro and plus, thanks, I bought an alto busker and compared it with s1pro, it has higher alto power, but bose has slightly better sound quality
