    The EV has an app for full sound shaping

  • @ronedwards8239

    The reason for the disconnect is the typical EV8 is a 2 way design. The Bose uses a line array of small drivers which produce better mid frequency response.

    Hi mate! Thank you for such a comprehensive review, it is extremely useful and appreciated by the community!
    I have a Bose S1 Pro that I use for small gigs (guitar + mic) and I'm very happy with its performance indoors.
    However, I also do the occasional busking outdoor and I realised it lacks volume. I tend to use the volume knobs at 75%/85% as I don't want to damage the unit by going full volume (maybe I should go full 100%).
    I've read the max SPL is 103 db for the Bose S1 Pro. And the Everse 8 is around 121 db. In terms of loudness appreciation, how much would a 18db difference be?
    I am unsure if I should go for the Everse 8 to get more volume output, or just go with a mains powered PA + a battery power generator.
    Thank you!

      Hey man, thanks very much or the kind comments! Yes the Everse 8 will be louder than the Bose, and also have a deeper bass response. If you want to, there's also the Everse 12 which I will review soon! That piece... no compromises on sound I believe :D

  • @monstrmovies5183
    @monstrmovies5183 3 месяца назад

    Thanks for the review. The difference you noticed in off-axis sound is to be expected based on the OEM specs for each speaker: The Everse (not a line array) has 100° horizontal x 100° vertical coverage, while the Bose has 120° horizontal by 50° vertical (typical characteristic of line arrays).

    Hello. Nice yo meet you...^^ I can not speak English very well. I really want to ask a question, so I will ask it using a translator. Please understand even if the way I speak is a little strange.
    My name is Damian, and I mainly perform acoustic guitar on small and medium-sized outdoor stages in Korea. I need a battery-powered amplifier right now, and I'm debating between EV everse8 and Bose s1 pro plus.
    I want the delicate expression of an acoustic guitar to be possible, but also have high output and a clear sound delivered to the audience. Which product is better?

      Nice to meet you Damian!
      You should check out my latest video: ruclips.net/video/FXx3BFWvXIA/видео.html
      The Everse 8 will be louder, but I prefer the way the acoustic guitar sounds on the Bose S1 Pro Plus. However there is some strange ducking issues on the Bose S1 Pro Plus sometimes, if you are playing very dynamically or percussively. I am still not very clear about that issue.
      The best is if you can try them out for yourself. Cheers from Singapore!

    I just got the bose s1 new for $499 and it totally changed our small set up. (We used to sing and play without amplification for super small gigs.. very well accepted by our customers when they don’t want a whole K10 in their backyard, We want another S1) I was regretting not getting the EV bc of the extra decibels, but playing through a bose s1 sounds so clear.. how would it sound if you use your bose s1 as a monitor and use line out on the EV as front of house?
    I use an art 48v mixer and run my upright bass through the bose and it’s enough, and way better than no speakers at all. Idk why I didn’t get this 4 years ago and my band agrees. Bought it on prime day and I’ve used it in over 6 shows already. All very successful and never pushed in to the red (except my yesterday, it was outdoors and there was loud car burnouts, but it only lasted 15 minutes)
    Should I go for another bose and have a matching pair? Or get an EV? The bose is back up at $599

    • @guitarstreet
      @guitarstreet  11 месяцев назад

      Are you using a mixer? I think the Everse 8 works better as FOH speaker, as you can change the input to Line input. The Bose does not have that option, and thus the signal that comes in can be very hot. Plus the Everse 8 is much louder than the Bose, so I'd recommend that.

  • @thinkingaboutit2738

    You had Everse 8 for a month but didn't play with the settings to see if you could tweak the sound to get it closer to the warm sound you're getting from the S1? I don't know if it's a fair test to write it off if you didn't play with the settings enough.

    • @guitarstreet
      @guitarstreet  9 месяцев назад

      Fair point - sorry I wasn't able to do that. You can indeed tweak the Everse 8, but in my opinion it's not just about the bass / mids / highs. The sound signatures and the way they process vocals / instruments are very different as well.

    I had the Bose for more that five years and was quite happy with it when it came out. I didn’t like the fact the bass on the Bluetooth channel was a little too boomy and therefore the speaker had a limited headroom, also the lack of changing the sound of channel 3 was a little annoying. Never liked the one and only reverb effect it offers, it doesn’t sound as good as the tonematch T1 reverb (even the T4S reverb doesn’t sound as good as before…). The EV blew me away with its sheer amount of power, app control, fx section and wireless receiver power supply. After having it for one year, I even bought another one for stereo setup and bigger venues. Normally, I’m totally for Bose but the EV is the way more better musician’s device. BUT, I heard the S1 pro+ in a low volume surroundings and what should I say, it really sounds great and at such low volumes, a lot bigger as it actually is. Too bad they didn’t build a bigger “S2” with a 8” woofer and 5 or 6 tweeters.

    • @guitarstreet
      @guitarstreet  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@woeye3251can you try them? I think the Everse will have a better bass response, because it’s also bigger (8” vs 6” of the Bose). Also you can set the input to Line input, and levels are managed better on the Everse. So I think it could be the better choice as a monitor. Of course, Bose is lighter and more compact. So it depends on what you need.

    Hi! Which of the 8-inch or 6.5-inch battery-powered speakers can produce sounds in such an urban area near or at a great distance. Like, for example, Everse 8 in the street version? When a backing vocalist with a speaker is both nearby and from afar, his music and voice can be clearly heard at a distance of 200 meters and even further in the fifth minute of this video ruclips.net/video/yoybdtGrRm4/видео.html What else could be similar to Everse 8? There is no need for the compact Jbl EON One. I have been using it for 3 years now and have already sold it because it is twice as weak in volume as Everse 8. You can clearly hear it here, in a short 1.5-minute story ruclips.net/video/OMPkPStMgo4/видео.html The speaker should be loud, compact and lightweight so that the musician can transport it on a special trolley (this is also seen in the video). Will the Bose S1 Pro / Pro Plus be enough on such a city street ruclips.net/video/uJeYJNi0bb8/видео.html Where is another musician playing guitar and singing in Everse 8? Thank you in advance!

    Greetings! Three days ago, I shot a big test video on the street. Electro-Voice Everse 8 Street Perfomance (vocals) my friend performed in the city center in the genre of backing vocals for vocalists. There is a great desire to share your impressions with other people who are interested in this topic. ruclips.net/video/ZH0lRGB3YUk/видео.html and I shot videos on my smartphone from all sides, near and from afar, retreating 250 and 500 meters. The main episodes are indicated by timecodes in the pinned comment for a quick transition to each episode. As a result, the Everse 8 is very good for a small speaker system in terms of sound pressure. You can hear it everywhere. Additionally, I bought an inexpensive compact charging station Allpowers S200 separately. At least you can see the energy consumption and how long it will last. Then the Everse 8's own battery starts working.

    Everse 8 is better for me, for mostly use it. Music and live. Acoustic from everse 8 is 9.5 good sound like Bose.
    Used it without subwoofer everse 8 sound is good, way better than Bose.

      @@BluesCat1980 In my comment compared the new Bose S1 Pro Plus to the previous model Bose S1 Pro mentioned in this video. I just recently purchased a Bose S1 Pro Plus. My biggest problems with the new Bose amp are the lack of mid range controls plus there is no control for feedback. The S1 Pro Plus can be bass heavy so feedback is an issue. I had to put a Fishman AFX EQ in front to get decent balance and control the feedback. I also have a TC Electronic BodyRez pedal and a TC Electonic Flashback 2 mini in the loop. The pedals are powered by a Volto battery.
