      it's admirable that Macklemore is speaking out about it. White Privilege 2 is almost a great response to White Iverson in outing culture vulturing

    Everyone is entitled to speak about themselves and their experience. Good for him for talking about this. We've got a long way to increase the empathy on this planet and decrease the defensiveness.

    So if you are white and a rapper do you have to be gay like all black rappers? Just curious.

      +Sammy Patel I'm fairly sure they know it's not an endorsement of white privilege. The video description is good evidence of that.
      I can see how you might think they thought he was endorsing white privilege if you only watched the first few moments of the video though... Perhaps _you_ should watch the whole video before commenting.

      ***** Alright, first tell me what do you think white privilege means and what city do you live in?

    • @ikannunaplays
      @ikannunaplays 8 лет назад

      ***** I can tell you that none of that is true. I'm a white male. I get stared at walking into 7-11, anyone can rob them and they know it. I get followed while at Wal-Mart by the "undercover security". I grew up in the projects in Chicago, went to the same schools as the blacks that lived in the same apts I did. I didn't even get my current job until the black guy that had it quit after 2yrs when he didn't have the right skills. So if there's privileged, its not the a good kind.

      +Brad Schlangen As a white man you're unqualified to say that blacks don't face WORSE oppression than you. Besides, the statistics contradict your claims.

  • @Concerncitizenoftheworld

    Macklemore is the right person to talk/rap about "white privilege" and racism because he is white. If a black person talked or rap about it, racist or ignorant people will just say "there goes another angry black person" and completely ignored the subject. Besides Macklemore already made a song about homophobia where in the video shows a mixed couple and he is not gay. Good for Macklemore for using his fame and artistic talent to try to make a difference in this society. We should all speak out against our own race or religion if we see people from our race and religion doing bad things. I think it is more powerful if one of their own speaks up against them. Like all Muslims should speak out and condemn terrorists and extremist. All Christians, Jews, Mormons should also speak out and condemn people who use the bible to spread discrimination and hatred.

    all voices need to speak up about certain issues. if the world will take his voice more seriously than mine when he says what I say, I would be irresponsible if I silence him.

      +Inderjit Singh What i really have a problem with is the 2nd to last one. "He won't stop." What you want him to stop creating an art form that he loves because it was first created by back people? You can't just bar someone from an idea. Or maybe I'm missing the point.
      Co-opted means taking and using for ones own use. I find it hard to believe that this is his motive. For one seeing the song is free. Secondly being a strong advocate for black lives far before he became mainstream. It's like dammed if you do, dammed if you don't for many white people that support the cause.
      He's using his platform for a good cause.

  • @Francisco_420

    I think the song does nothing but create controversy and EVERYBODY knows controversy sells... Continue the Black Lives Matter movement and when white people march along too, that also helps.

    Even if one is not being oppressed by an issue, bringing light to it is beneficial. Men can be feminists and white people should be advocating for those that oppressed.
