      Ha. someone commented that if you keeep the steering wheel lock not on for a few threads it will loosen the wheel enough to get it to release but will save you from accidentally overpulling. I will try that next time I do a Nissan. ahhaha. My VW and honda were super easy. Remove the bolt and the wheel slides right off.. The Nissan and Ford needed more convincing. lol

    You will get slip light after that only you can use oem parts for clock springs after market parts won’t work also you will need SAS reset

      You mean before disassembling the airbag? Absolutely I did. Haha. But that was another day. I installed a quick release hub and steering wheel. When I came back to replace the clockspring, I wasn't worried about an airbag exploding in my face. Can't remember if I bothered disconnecting the steering wheel for this part. Probably not.

  • @djv100
    @djv100 4 года назад +1

    Are you having any trouble with that assembly? I bought an aftermarket Clockspring myself for a 2012 frontier and the steering angle sensor is not fitting into the hub of the clockspring correctly. The new clockspring hub is too big for the SAS to couple correctly. It looks like you may have had the same thing happen without noticing but I couldn't tell.

      I broke the factory clock spring when I pulled the factory wheel off. My SLIP and VDC lights have been on ever since and nothing I do will reset them. I've had those lights come on before and have been able to fix it in the past, but no luck for almost a year now. I figured maybe it was because I didn't have the wheel straight when I removed it and I've had trouble since then getting the new wheel straight. Ended up replacing it with a cheap part I got on amazon. (posted another video covering this). I've been told that the slip and VDC lights will stay lit if you don't use an OEM clockspring. I will try getting an OEM at some point.. but I've put 15k miles on the truck this way with no other issues.

      Ya the Amazon link doesn’t work anymore. You’ll have to look on ebay or find a dealer that stocks it. Get an OEM Nissan one and not a no name brand. My slip light won’t turn off even if I do the reset procedure (I’ve done it before) and I read somewhere that if you don’t get the Nissan one, that will happen. Mine was a cheap part and I may redo it with a genuine Nissan if I get too tired of the lights. lol

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  3 года назад +1

      I would work from the hub adapter and go outwards to the steering wheel. The way most horns work is that when you press the button, it basically causes the negative terminal to ground. if you take a scrap piece of wire and touch it to the negative wire on the hub adapter and touch the other end to something metal on the truck and the horn goes off, then that wire is correct. Move on to the next hub side of the quick release. Test the wire orientation there. Then check where the horn button connects to the steering wheel side of the quick release. It's easy to get those connections backwards... especially on the horn button.. cus they're not always labeled. I've done 4 of these just this year and I had to fiddle with them to get it right.

      Also, I'm quite certain that theft light always does that when the key isn't in the cylinder. It's done that ever since I bought the truck used 10 years ago. It stops blinking once the key is inserted. My security system is very touchy. Even if it isn't armed, it will do a triple honk if you bump anything near the sensor on the driver side if the key isn't in the ignition and turned to the first click. Its weird.

    • @John_Ridley
      @John_Ridley 4 года назад

      @@rayregnogarage I wouldn't think it would keep doing it with the battery disconnected but maybe there's a small keep alive battery in the theft system. Not sure why though, if it detected a theft what's it going to do? It can't blow the horn without the battery.

      Do you mean for the Amazon part I used? I’m not sure. It’s not available anymore on Amazon. I’ve read that if it’s not OEM, you can’t get the VDC and Slip lights to turn off. Mine have been on ever since even after doing the reset sequence (I’ve cleared the lights before as they occasionally get stuck on). I may be getting the Genuine Nissan part sometime soon to test it.

      Although, I would recommend ordering the factory Nissan part instead. I've hard that the slip light won't clear with a non OEM part. I havent' been able to clear mine using the normal methods (mine came on occasionally before). I'm going to try swapping in the OEM part sooner or later.
