  • Replacing driver side front differential seal on a 2010 Xterra S (Not Offroad/Pro 4x).
This video shows the steps required to remove the leaking seal and replace it.
Parts may vary depending on year and trim as well as torque specs and nut sizes.
This Xterra was leaking front differential oil at the driver's side seal. Seal was replaced with the appropriate oem part for this year/month/trim level Xterra. Leaking seal apparently had a tear resulting in the leak.
Apologies for background noise and allergies.
    Differential seal shown: amzn.to/36p3Uyh
    API GL-5 SAE 80w 90 gear oil: amzn.to/3v7pt0w

I have a 2006 pathfinder that need the same oil seal. I am glad to watch your video. All I need to do is to remove the upper A arm mount base on what I saw. Thanks for that idea.

    This is an awesome video.
However, I have never seen a video beg for an audio narration more than this one. I know we all hate the sound of our own voices, but this one really, really needs some narration. I like that you use titles to point out some tips, but the strength of a video is that it is multimedia and your viewers would benefit from the visual and the audio input telling them what you're doing, why you're doing it, things to look out for.
One last comment, I have found vice grips to be an excellent tool to remove cotter pins. You use them to squeeze the pins together and then you can pull them out. No struggling with needle nose pliers.

Appreciate the feedback! Also, that's a great tip for cotter pins. I'll have to try that next time

you should apply grease to wheel hub/axle that helps with unwanted noise

Outstanding! Should be a standard procedure in every Xterra video file.

This ia great, so much nicer than talking and pointing. Only thing I would do differently is park it in 4 low so I can torque the nut without putting the tire on.

Thanks! Replacing the CV on my frontier after ripped boot. I usually use my junk T-shirts as rags though not wear them when working. ; ) A screwdriver through caliper into rotor fins works to re-torque the axle while up, but so does that.

You should of had a castle nut on both the outer tie rod and upper ball joint to put the cotter pins through. I would get in there ASAP and change both those nuts. Also, there should be a spindle nut retainer over the spindle nut that the cotter pin goes through. That is another thing that should be added quickly. Better safe (nothing works it way free) than sorry.

The most difficult step is pushing the cv shaft back in the front diff. You won't know until you do it by yourself.

Is the right and left seal the same or different?
