Well Freddie was 45 years old and I have been to two Queen concerts in the past couple of years. They honor Freddie in all they do and even have a hologram of Freddie singing. Remember Brian and Roger were the first members of this band (Smile). Brian always said that these Queens songs deserve to continue on and Freddie would be the first to agree.
Did you see the glass of champagne on the piano at the end? They left it there for Freddie, for their brother. Within a short time after Freddie's death, new medications came out for the HIV infected patients, sadly it was too late for many of them.
You are right, the glass of champagne is for Freddie. In a video Making of No-one but you Brian explained that in every gig they had Freddie would greet the audience with "Cheats, darlings!" so they put a glass on the piano for him. But the most touching event happened at the end of the song: Just before Rudi Doležal (the film director) said cut, Brian spotted something, that's why at the end you can hear: Brian, relax. Nobody else saw it, but when they rewind the tape, they could see a little tiny moth flying from above, circled the glass and then flew away ... ❤️
Love that Brian and Roger continue and they respect John for his decision. It's still hard to believe that Freddie, who always seemed larger than life is gone. It's lovely to see you both, I hope your sweet family is doing well 👨👩👦 I love the purple hippo behind you.
The drawing shown at the very beginning is one that Freddie did when he was in art college. I've watched this video dozens of times and it still makes me cry.
You have to see The making of No one but you (Only the good die young) video, when Brian explains how he wrote the song and how the video was made ... You will learn a lot. And yes, they've made a tribute song for Freddie, whos presence they are feeling even now.
About continuing to tour, I've been a fan since I was 12 1986. They only came to where I live, New Zealand, once with Freddie 1984. Since touring with Adam Lambert, they've been here three times. So not only have I been able to see them live (life long dream), but I've also taken my son, who was 12. That's the big point, showing a younger generation what it's about. Freddie wanted his music to live on.
So appreciate your listen to this.. it usually brings a few tears... Brian wrote this... (and you finally hear some of his fantastic vocals... as well as Roger)... thank you! (p.s. this was especially hard for John Deacon.. when Freddie passed, he was really "done".. but he participated in this final tribute...)
John is one of the most reluctant rock stars you'll find. A devout family man (married once, six kids) who doesn't like meeting people. Freddie was a huge part of his inspiration to get out there. Without that support he struggled with it and called it quits after a show they did with Elton John in France 97.
Nice to see you guys doing a Queen song. This one always makes me cry. It's a beautiful song. I don't think they are touring for the money. Roger and Brian love to perform. John is reportedly still involved in the business aspect of it. I also believe that they wanted to make sure Freddie and the legacy of Queen aren't forgotten. As good as their music is, people forget if it's not front of mind. I don't think they would be as popular today if they had stopped promoting Queen. I know a lot of Queen fans were unhappy with the Movie Bohemian Rhapsody but that movie secured Queen an entire new generation of fans. That's important to carry the legacy. Thanks for the reaction. Always nice to see you!
so beautiful! Like your comments at the end. People need to know that Brian and Roger were half of Queen and still have their passion for music. Trust me, they don't NEED any money. They love what they do and the audience would always demand Queen songs when they tour. They also have solo careers.
Brian and Roger keep touring because they love it they keep selling out big concert venues because people still want to see them. I don’t see why some people get so upset about it. To say they do it for the money is laughable. As a group they are worth about $600m and rumours abound about them selling their back catalog for $1.2 billion!
I’m always struck by the size of that piano. When they performed the piano was always half in shadow. It’s a special song. The story goes that he wrote it & did a demo & have it to Roger who didn’t listen to it for ages. Roger also wrote a song….just with him, old friends. It’s fun to see the contrast between how the 2 write.
It is Freddies (Queens) touring piano and (Brian has bought it and had it restored years after Freddie passed) and is at Brians home now. And yes, it is big. It is a Steinway model D (New York 1972). The same model which Freddie used in Queens studio in Montreux, Switzerland is at Rogers home. But Freddies personal piano, on which he composed the Bohemia Rhapsody (Freddie bought himself with his first paycheck, a Yamaha G2), was sold in 2023 together with all his personal possessions stored in his Garden Lodge London home.
Queen was made up of four very special musicians, and t least they specify “Queen & Adam Lambert”, not just replacing Freddie as lead singer. They worked just as hard as Freddie, so I give them that. He was 45…he said to do what they wanted with his music, even the stuff he recorded at the end but never got to hear after production, but to never make him sound boring. They’re continuing his legacy…and yes, they don’t need the money. They love music and performing. I believe and know they really loved Freddie and miss him. No one could ever replace him, and they know that. I’m happy they’re keeping his legend and name alive. That takes dedication and love. Roger wrote and recorded two songs under his own name about Freddie’s passing…”Old Friends” and “Say it’s Not True”. Check them out. 💔
I'm a die hard Queen fan for 50 yrs. I don't think they're Queen anymore with Lambert but I have great respect for Sir Brian & Roger. After all, it's their life.
John looked so hopeless, as if he hardly had strength to hold his bass. Completely broken, poor Deaky. And the pain in Brian's eyes and on his face. And we still love you, Freddie, you are a one-off, irreplaceable.

I think we just hate Freddie is not here gone to soon but Freddie would want them to keep on performing but poor john lost his love of performing without Freddie 😢

Very good point. We also take distance to the hate for them to continue making music as Queen. Ty
They still put on a great show! I finally saw them thus last fall...amazing!
❤❤❤😢Freddie's little Queen Brothers ABSOLUTELY loved and adored him. They were trying to keep it together and not break down
Very good point ty

Yup. I think we did mention it? But anyways ty for telling, make big sense

Beautiful sweet Freddie ❤ we still love you 🎉 now and forever ♾️ so glad to see you back to the queen 🚂
Still miss Freddie Queen fans understand. He and Queen were unique 😓
Súper fuerte y emotivo... Gracias 🙏
John never played with Queen after this song.
Make sense after study his face. Looks empty, and make alot of sense after losing his good friend...

En fantastisk sang!

John does not have a good voice. That’s why he didn’t sing on this song.
You were emotionless throughout the video. Stop making money from showing queen tracks!!!
