Just seen your farm on tv ('Nationwide', I think) whilst having dinner down here in Co. Tipp. During meals I usually don't watch farming but yours looked so clean, wholesome and well looked after, even the goats'n'cows. Seeing your flock of hens following you around was so touching, then your white turkeys likewise, all of them looked so happy & healthy. Wish I lived near enough to purchase your produce direct or locally here. An impressive operation that is a credit to you - and Ireland!
That young man is amazing with all his chickens and how he rotate them. And the garden is truly stunning I mean so beautiful. Just so lush with blooms, and not a weed anywhere. So wish I had the access to do what he is doing. Been looking for a couple acres for a while now. Just everything is so expensive right now.
Lease idle land. Western Europe is rotten with idle agricultural land (thanks to EU commercial regulation). Its such a better proposition economically. Leasing for €25‐100 per acre per year for agricultural use, vs. buying farmland for €5,000-10,000 per acre.
Thanks for your session here on the All steel coop with its own solar power station on a 5 joules fence energizer . Would like to learn on the steel chicken coop looking forward to build a similar for longer term. Thanks am a farmer from Zambia 🇿🇲 and a uk construction worker been working compounding our efforts that’s a great eye opener for health and safety care towards the birds.
I have 2 questions, are the chickens also provided with water and feed inside the wagon? And how much grams of feed do you need to feed the layers extra per day on top of their grass ration?
No food or water in the sleeping wagon. Layers and broilers is almost 100% feed, they don't eat much grass. However if your land has lots of insects, worms and slugs you can cut down on your feed. Provided they are put out on pasture. How much you feed will vary depending on how fast you want to fatten them up.
@@seandoherty4236 they most definitely eat grass they will eat it down to nothing if a few days thats why they have to move them 🤦♂️ also you can see the drinker in the video the blue thing with a hole in it
Slick operation. How is Mr. Cathal Mooney's overall thoughts on his farm? Does he feel he's hit his targets? Is his work-life balance satisfactory? Is he growing the farm in new directions? Etc? Probably hard work - but beautiful way of life: That's imho very good living. Perhaps not glamorous.
Very nice to see, I'm still looking for a good idea for 3,000 square meters, where my dairy goats now graze and I have too much grass. Would like to have laying hens graze on it after the goats, but don't know if the birds of prey will leave them alone.
Hello brotheI. I am one of the people who like to work in cow farms and drive tractors, so I want to ask you if you need workers to work in the farm, thank you for your interest.👍
I am a young man from Morocco, 30 years old. I have experience working in farms and caring for sheep. I drive a harvesting machine and a tractor. I am looking for a work contract in one of the farms. The monthly salary does not matter. I do this work out of love.
Thank God we don't have these silly regulations in the US. And his pasture move made mine look like a walk in the park. every other day takes 15mins, every 5-7 days 45mins. Grateful for our context.
@@seandoherty4236 Thanks for reply. Not in farming myself only interested in how things work. Is there a particular website about the 'silly regulations'? Are they too general or specific to other countries different from Ireland? In terms of climate or social factors like labour availability?
Slight misrepresentation and generalisation of Irish soils So much top quality soils around the country perfect for tillage dairying etc as good as anywhere on the planet

Need about 10,000 more of these and things will change
Need about 100,000,000 European consumers willing to change their eating/buying habits so things will start to change.
Great video Richard highlighting this young man’s operation. Thanks!
Beautiful farm, beautiful country, beautiful people, thanks for sharing!

How nerve-racking it must be to have your professor on site haha
Cathal is smashing these enterprises 👍😁
Wonderful to see this going on so close to my home. Those are some happy looking animals!
I liked all the mobile shelters he has adapted to the Irish climate, which is not to different to Cornwall. Definitely inspired for ideas.
Awesome to see the progression of your setup. Proper tidy, love it
Here in kansas we just processed our 1st batch of broilers today!

Great ideas! Looks like the same climate as our Oregon Coast. We struggle all the time through winter with the rain and wet.
Beautiful farm amazing I like to work in Ireland ❤❤❤
How are we going to feed our chickens during rainy season. They can’t go out to catch for insects

There would no wars nor hate if everyone owned chickens and a border collie.
Richard, how many layers did this particular design allow for? He mentioned 2 Ridgedale’s in 1 so does that mean 800? Cheers
Really nice operation! Congrats

je kan toch je kippen toch in een ren doen, waar ze in blijven, en toch scharrelen. wielen aan de zijkanten, en de wanden laag bij de grond....
