"Never buy cars to make money, they are terrible investment" *Laughs in Turkish* Only country in the world where the same brand new car is cheaper than the second-hand almost new car.
It is a temporary situation. Because recently turkish lira lost value and buying power has been decreased. Sales had decreased. So dealers stop bringing new models. And few models are bought by second dealers who had money enough. And now if you go a dealer ask a new car, they are already purchased by these second hand dealers. They are selling more expensive the brand new cars, because you cannot find the model you want at dealers.
Still, cars in Turkey hold their value extremely well compared to any other country in the world, even with inflation/buying power adjusted. Moreover, cars are getting more and more expensive almost every 2-3 months for around 2-2.5 years. But the used car prices passing the brand new listing prices is a new thing. By the way, it has nothing to do with spare parts etc. There already is warranty on new cars, as long as you don't crash without insurance, you don't have to worry about it that much, and probably no one drives a new car without insurance. Imagine paying over 200k USD in US for the most boring cars in the world (stupid diesel hatchbacks or white bland Corolla or something) and not getting insurance.
@@MJ_868 The _start stop_ effect of city driving is much more demanding on the engine. Lower speed means more heat staying in the engine bay, and the constantly changing RPM's wear on the internals more, consume more fluids, and are sucking in more particles from dirty in-town streets. Out on the highway there's much better airflow meaning it's easier for the radiator to do it's job of keeping it cool under the hood. Also, the usually consistent RPM's mean better fuel efficiency and less wear and tear on the engine overall.
@@TheFishE77Official not to mention that city driving fails to warm up them big-ass range rovers during a short start-stop commute putting the engine oil through hell. In city cars clutches, the whole powertrain all the gears get a pretty horrible treatment especially when running cold. The incomplete heat cycles contribute to crappy combustion and soot buildup in particle filters over time mainly in diesels but direct injected petrols are just as prone to that. If exhaust gets restricted too much it can cause a whole cascading failure murdering gaskets, turbochargers, crank-case-ventilation systems all the while the engine is struggling against excessive exhaust pressure. Yes city-only cars should be picked very carefully. Small boring naturally aspirated lightweight engines in small cars and electric cars are more fit. Large engines, chassis and turbochargers are not a good idea in a city-car.
Before you consider the MSP/MP3 as a decent investment, consider the 323 GTX and the investment track it has taken. Despite having Group A rally racing pedigree, a host of RUclips videos and news articles written about it, you can still get them for around the price you would pay for a MSP (well under $10k) and it's over a decade newer. There might be sub 20k mile collector market examples of each out there, but for the rest, don't buy one unless you want to drive and maintain it, and don't expect to flip it for a profit in 10 years. The MSM might fair better long term but they were sold in higher volume and the turbo was really just a hold over until the new motor was available. In general, any vehicle that is "affordable" when new or at the moment will never be a good investment long term. Sure, a 240z just sold for crazy money, but you need to basically find a low mile car and shrink wrap and store it for 50 years to see that kind of return...and you'll make more putting that money in the stock market where a barn collapse won't damage your investment.

Same exact problem with the manuals.
Alfredo Ladino true. But engine is destroyed faster. The lack if decent speed means all that hot air is trapped, which is bad for the plastics in the engine bay. The constant braking and accelerating will wear out the powertrain faster. Accelerating requires more energy than, say, a steady cruise at 50mph. The sudden changes in energy requirements for all related components in the car speeds up the deterioration process, compared to it doing a constant velocity (highway cruising). Basically, u try alternating between sprinting and walking every 30sec n compare that to steady jog. The fatigue should set in much faster.
@David Butler doesn't matter who makes the vehicle, accelerated wear is accelerated wear. Stop and go traffic is more wear and tear than freeway miles.

"Never buy cars to make money, they are terrible investment"
*Laughs in Turkish*
Only country in the world where the same brand new car is cheaper than the second-hand almost new car.
How is that even supposed to work?
@@speediskey3856 because parts are plentiful for older cars
@@JohnDoe-hx1wx that makes sense I guess
"with nothing but city miles on them" the worst kind of miles one can have... OK maybe offroad miles are worse but only just...
Thankfully i wasn't the only one that notice that xD
Highway miles are less harmful
Quick question, why are city miles bad?

@@millenniumzeek I should of never sold my yellow MP3.... :(
Good luck finding one under 20k that hasnt been thrashed.
Sure, a 240z just sold for crazy money, but you need to basically find a low mile car and shrink wrap and store it for 50 years to see that kind of return...and you'll make more putting that money in the stock market where a barn collapse won't damage your investment.

richard desbiens how are city miles worse than highway miles? As long as the chassis isn’t fucked in one way or another
Alfredo Ladino true.
David Butler ah. Indeed. Its a different story when we talk about toyota tanks😂 my bad
Also less stuff to run into on the highway, interiors stay nice because you aren’t constantly getting in and out, etc.
@David Butler doesn't matter who makes the vehicle, accelerated wear is accelerated wear. Stop and go traffic is more wear and tear than freeway miles.
