    It took a neuroendocrine tumour with multiple alarming symptoms (mostly related to cranial nerves and adrenalin) to wake me up and bring me back to my body. Then 2 heart surgeries. It's been a 10 yr journey. You were one of the first practitioners I found online with applicable information that resonated with me. I come from a maternal line of abuse and 'mental illness'. Thank you for sharing soo much useful information ❤

    seth's situation sounds a lot like my own...my terrified mother wanted kids but not me right then, i was born dangerously early and spent months in incubator and isolette completely isolated from human touch, grew up as the family scapegoat in a violent/neglectful home with a narcissistic sibling. i'm so sorry he went through whatever he did, but it helps to hear i wasn't the only one traumatized and hypervigilant that way.

    so helpful to hear this. I'm in your course right now. pretty much every time in my life I've taken psychedelics, I would hit terror. When I would get infused with big amounts of spiritual energy at pyramids, I would hit terror. I almost blacked out on the pyramid of the sun in Mexico in my 20s when a shaman connected me to my ray of light... (no psychadelics) I never understood why instead of feeling divine love, I felt terror and panic. I've done some Trauma healing but this has never been named or touched. I'm hopeful in time it can be safely released.

    I love how you say, run as fast as you can if a practitioner says to follow these specific steps to work on the preverbal trauma. Also titration is key and if they aren't doing that they aren't doing their due diligence. This is so important as there are so many workshops and programmes I see that puts in breath work, chakra, kundalini activation and trauma release 'techniques' in two days. This sounds so much for the system.

    Usually there are layers some of which are very protective, so as a psychologist and psychotherapist who has also done this work myself, I would recommend a very skillful guide. We will need to learn to be with feelings, develop awareness and explore relationship dynamics, layer by layer.

    Hi Irene, I am so glad I found your work at the right time, cause I worked over the last 1 1/2 years alone and with a therapist to build that foundation and I seem to have reached a level of security so that my body feels ok with letting my preverbal traumas surface. And it is INTENSE. Its huge waves of emotions, rushes of sympathetic energy, disgust, rage, terror, feeling sick, all of this, without visual memories, just sensations. I am a few months in and by now I expirienced this enough and felt enough release and been seeing my symptoms fade away that I can trust I am on the right path, but oh boy. The name terror described it very well. I feel so sorry for my inner child and I do my best to soothe her pain.

    Irene I experienced in-utero trauma. It took many years to build capacity with a skilled therapist and growing deeper in my faith - knowing God as father builds containment. I am finding that finally getting at the deepest layers, my adrenals/body go into extreme rushes just prior to revelation and release. Since I know what is happening I'm trusting my body but it is hard on the system. The work is hopeful but exhausting. As you said. It's quite shocking how much is down there.

    I suffer from a serious rare autoimmune condition and have been working to release and heal trauma. One of the things that mamy times come to me and no therapist has been able to explain its exactly this, waves and feelings, sensations of utter terror. Not panic, not fear, terror.... as I have learned to observe and stay curious about my body's cues without identifying with or spiraling down in that terror, I always wondered where that comes from because I have no memories or images relating to this specific sensation and with other sensations I have become pretty quick to get to the memory, image, context... i believe this might be preverbal terror. First time I heard someone describe and explain this sensation of mine so well.... its terror that brings along feelings of anihilation and collapse. I always wondered if I was molested, abused before age of 3... I truly feel that nothing, no medicine will fully work for my autoimmune condition before I get this terror energy / imprint out of my body as it is this that has triggered ans keeps fueling the disease... I wish I could know more about this terror and how to release it

    I don't know if anyone can be helped by this, but here goes... I was born with severe hip displasia and put in a medieval stretching machine as a newborn, then had two surgeries before the age of 5. I experienced extreme terror from my family and the doctors. It's fucked me up horribly and I get freaked being around people.
    I've tried many meditation techniques and settled on Vipassana, which is intense. But I've also found that doing this work to try to "get to that trauma" often sets me back for weeks, months or even a year in some cases. I'm fairly diligent though and I come back, sometimes after screaming at the sky that I hate everything and give up.
    I recently found IFS therapy, which explains this titration process. I have parts of me that act as protectors and they will fuck up my world if I try to get to a vulnerable part of me without earning trust.
    Still working on all of it and doing IFS therapy to be more gentle. Irene's advice to burp and fart at will (no holding back) has helped one of my protectors let go a bit. It takes time. Some days I'm sick to death of this life and others I'm thankful for the creative mind this crapstorm has given me.
    All the best to those trying to heal!!

    • @thedatepro
      @thedatepro Месяц назад

      @@helensid6670 I have done various somatic work (there are dozens of different kinds) and Feldenkrais and while they are some similarities, they definitely have their differences and nuances. I wouldn't be able to really go into their differences in a RUclips comment post. Having worked with hundreds of people I have learned that there are many different ways to heal the mind and body. And while these tools are incredibly helpful, what is EQUALLY important is who we are BEING while using these tools / modalities.
      When I started on my healing journey years ago I was using my tools to fix myself and out of fear. This sent signals of danger to my nervous system and the limbic system of my brain which kept me in a dysregulated state. Once I began using my tools to connect with body and attune to it and came from a place of self compassion and love, things began to shift for me.
      I think everyone's journey is unique and that there are many different ways to heal. People heal without somatics. People heal without brain retraining. People have healed without Feldenkrais. What's important is how we attune to our own bodies, address core beliefs that are not supportive, change any trauma or stress patterns that are keeping us in a dysregulated state and recognize that for most people this type of deep healing can take time.

    Hi Irene, how do you feel about the use of psilocybin or MDMA in the treatment of preverbal trauma? Bessel van der Kolk is a strong believer that this is a highly effective and fast way of dealing with trauma. The brain makes connections it has never done before. This seems to go against your statement that healing should be attempted very slow and careful. Hope to hear from you!

    • @IreneLyon
      @IreneLyon  Месяц назад

      @ElskeWijma, Jen here from Irene's Team. If someone has pre-verbal trauma, we would typically encourage them to lean into the conservative side when considering approaches that have the potential to open up the system. This might look like working with a practitioner who can gauge the level of stability in someone's system as they consider taking such a step, or like working with a practitioner who knows how to titrate even more slowly that is recommended and gauge the response before continuing.
      When we are growing a new foundation for the nervous system and are creating deep and lasting change, it does usually take time. And yes, there are many steps that may be supportive along the way - for some these may include experiences with psilocybin and MDMA - and we typically see this as part of the process and not a replacement for the process.

    • @IreneLyon
      @IreneLyon  Месяц назад

      @elyerrey7750, Jen here from Irene's Team. Sometimes offering attuned, regulated presence can be enough to support a baby in renegotiating an event that was traumatic for them (and taking steps to grow our nervous system regulation as adults can help with this).

    Thank you for the many helpful things you share here. However, I disagree with what you said at the beginning, that everything a baby in the womb feels is just sensation, and that there is no emotion or feeling. I can say there is a feeling. My father wanted me aborted. I know it from what my mom told me and I also got to a memory of it in my soul (trying to heal the causal reason why I was struggling in life and having symptoms). It was a bit freaky when my mom described my father's reaction to when she told him she was pregnant, it made me feel dizzy. And I can say the emotion underneeth it (underneath the shock and dizziness) is a deep unworthiness. I was made to feel that already in utero. There already is a soul attached to the body developing since conception. God's Love and my spirit guides and angels help me heal it. We are all very loved, even if our parent (or both for some people) didn't love us or even hated us. God is our True Parent, True Creator. No need for any religion. Everyone can have a personal relationship with God, our True Mom and Dad. But we must adress the sins of our parents towards us. God and angels want to help us heal.

    The first sip of alcohol I had at 15, beer, my first reaction the first thought I had was,
    I've had this before, I remembered the taste I recognized it both the taste and the smell
    The exposure happened before I turned 4, it must have, I wrote about it to further process it, the memory a few years ago,
    I write intuitively when I start and from where ever it comes I realized and wrote
    it was a visceral reaction that represented a download of a file as if I had clicked and the file was opened. It's been closed 15 years now after nearly 30 years attempting to remain sober
    Question.
    ? What are the chances that "alcoholism" is really about a neuro divergent reaction to alcohol instead of a moral question of character? It did not serve me well to say the least. Eventually I realized that when I give my power to alcohol, only then am I power less and vulnerable to the fallout
    ? Thanks.

    • @loverainthunder

      Mthfr gene trouble can cause many psych issues. You might drink alcohol because it temporarily alleviates those problems. But it further depletes your b vitamins. I'm no expert, but you could look into it.

    • @IreneLyon
      @IreneLyon  Месяц назад

      @autisiens, Jen here from Irene's Team. From this nervous system POV we see many reasons why a person might be dependent on alcohol and none of them have to do with a moral question in character. In short, when we don't experience the conditions and supports needed to teach us to self-regulate, we learn to manage how ever we can. Turning to alcohol is one of the management strategies people use. Hope this helps to answer your question.
