there has been a hole in my heart ever since king of hill went off the air. yeah the re-runs are Great, but what I would give just to see Hank,Dale, Bill and Boomhauer live again
There'd be a lot of anger from both sides. I think most of the country lost its spine since KOTH went off the air. That's not a right or a left argument, I'm talking both sides of the spectrum.
My brother in law once went on a date with her a back before she was famous and really let her have it. Whipped up some woppers and smacked the broom handles off her caput, capeesh?
Brian Blush, of The Refreshments, gave me his signed guitar pick, after a show, at The White Rabbit, in San Antonio. Those guys put on a great show. Brian's guitar playing was out of this world good. Of course, everyone was requesting the KOTH theme. They played it, but it has its own pace, and tone. It definitely has a "driving music" feel, and then moves to a Ska/Polka bridge, then repeats...super abrupt finish. I'd say it was not really emblematic of their overall sound, but sounds good wearing overalls. Yup.

Had absolutely no idea KoTH was exported to Korea to be animated -- I wonder what all-American Hank Hill would have to say about that. Hehe. Interesting fact I guess.
In many ways King of the Hill was the animated Andy Griffith show. The humor was based on character and slice of life type of humor and It wasn't afraid to have real moments in it. also it was something you can actually watch with your family. It was adult but not over the top language udity\sex\violence etc. so even if your kids didn't get the humor they weren't watching something you'd be embarrassed for them to see
dang, so much respect. a lot more work was put into creating an animated tv show back in the days. real worth it though, they've produced a gem. i love king of the hill for its simplicity and the fact that it's realistic but still comical. king of the hill could have easily been a real life sitcom but being an animated show makes it funnier and a lot more interesting. and you could tell the cast had fun working together to produce this beautiful work of art
i find that this show is still quite relevant, it tackled the most interesting and curious "slice of life" topics that still hold up today. i'm generally not big a fan of western animation, but this show was so charming, humerous and sincere that i find it hard not to grow close to those delightful characters. the show also goes really deep and explores the flaws of each characters besides their good sides.

One of the best shows ever. Mike judge is a king. I had a hank hill that lived on our street when I was a kid way back in the 60's. Hey Mike please bring hank and guys back. PLEASE
I think mike judge just described the show perfectly at the end “If that guy likes it, it must be doing something right” I dont think anyone can put their finger on exactly what the show does so well, but god damn does it do it well
I think it's that "close to home" feeling. Mike judge created such unique characters and their traits so much like the everyday person, we all just bonded with the show instantly. I tell you what.
I like it because it's very grounded for a cartoon. It feels like real life, but it's funny. I don't have a lot of humor in my life and other cartoons are too fantastical to relate to. King of the Hill reminds me that real life can be funny and lighthearted.
As someone who lives in Texas & who has run a few propane companies there... I tell ya what... he captured many of the the real life characters I’ve known & have worked with.
For me, it’s the same reason I’ve rewatched Napoleon Dynamite so many times. The world is real, the characters are real but just ridiculous enough to be entertaining, and it feels like home (the late 90s/early 2000s) you can see in the furniture and architecture the blend of the 70s/80s/90s all coming together to form this style that is hard to recreate yet is unmistakable. It’s this weird kind of nostalgia where you didn’t have to have the firsthand experience to feel nostalgic for it. It’s Americana.
Thats my favorite part of the whole doccumentary, i love how he remembered that small interaction and that made him realize what he was doing was working
The best thing ever from the whole show is still: (Hank’s car horn is blowing loudly, Hank works under the hood trying to shut it off) Bill: “Sounds like your horn’s going off.” Hank (screaming over the horn) “Ya really think so Bill?!” Bill: “Ohh, yeaah!” - Comedy gold.
I love how they based characters on photographs of ordinary real life people. Imagine you're watching King of the Hill and there's YOU in the background lol

Fun fact: Wes Archer was one of the 3 original animators for the Simpsons when they were just a short on the Tracey Ulman show. Also, Greg Daniels was also a Simpsons writing vet and wrote 'Bart sells his soul'
I liked how at the end he did Octavio's voice. I guess he got that from that Mexican American who said he likes his show. Then Boomhauer's voice is from someone that hated show. Funny
Nope. They want to maintain Trejo did Octavio for obvious reasons that got the Simpsons in a lot trouble.. But he did not. Enrique was the only voice Trejo did. Danny Trejo is in NONE of the credits for Octavio episodes. ZERO. Also, Mike Judge used the same type of voice at the monster truck rally in Idiocracy
This show is special in it's own way. You have shows like Family guy, Robot Chicken, The Simpsons, American Dad, etc. These shows complete the whole adult-like immaturity of it all, while King of the Hill does it in a way where it's funny but in realities actual view. You don't see characters like Hank die 24/7 just to get a cheap laugh out of it all. Instead, it's stuff like gossip, drama, Hillbilly drama, and adult reality problems (slightly making fun of it in the process) that makes the show funnier. Whenever I say, "Oh yeah! Well my favorite show is King of the Hill," people will make a laugh for whatever reason. When you say, "Oh, I like Family Guy! (not saying anything's wrong with that, nor is the show dumb). Many individuals wouldn't care all that much.
