it's my second time to install a wireless back up camera on another car. Didn't know splice clip was a thing. U just saved me 1.5hr time soldering. Thanks dude
If you install a wifi camera that shows the feed on your smartphone, don't connect it to the reverse light! You may need to manouver your car and then you have to reconnect your camera to wifi over and over again. Connect the camera to your normal red rearlight, so when you turn on your lights it also powers your camera and keeps it on wifi.
Thanks for this!! I'm a first time driver and soon going to be a first time car buyer and I'm going to buy a used car under 2k. I can ask one of my mechanic friends to hook this up to my car. The rear back up cameras comes with a bigger price tag for my broke self lol
I want to find the perfect true wireless solar charger backup camera. They have them out now only problem they have a ton of different ones and i can’t afford to keep buying them over and over to find the best !
@@dronefilmsgermany Hello, yes. What I did was remove the “reverse” bulb socket on the taillight as if I was going to change the bulb. Make sure you turn the ignition on (Dont start the vehicle!) and put the car in reverse so the backup lights come on. It would be wise to have someone in the drivers seat so the vehicle doesn’t roll.. You can usually tell which one of the wires on the socket is the positive wire, but if you can’t you will need a test meter or test light to find which wire is the ‘HOT" 12 volt wire. Once you find the wire, you splice the 12 volt positive wire on the camera into the 12 volt positive wire on the bulb socket. They make crimp wire splices and the camera may even come with one. Once you splice into the wire and put everything back together. The camera will automatically turn on each time the vehicle is put in reverse. I hope this helps you. Good luck.
Back up cameras are one the most underrated features. It is as necessary as a seatbelt. Ever since I had a backup cam. I refused to live life without it.
This thing is absolutely perfect for my 2003 Camry. There is a space for it right in front of the gear shift AND the cigarette lighter socket is directly behind it.
The splice connectors will suffice just know that if suddenly your backup camera is not working that those splice connectors are the most likely culprit. Using them on the interior of a car is usually ok because it is out of the elements but depending on the car sometimes it will be exposed to the elements quite a bit at the reverse bulb area. I have repaired many automotive add ons using these style connectors and it is usually trailer harnesses etc... if you are proficient to do it another way, I would recommend it (particularly if you basically intend on keeping the car forever) LOL at the chewbaca part
Same happened to me. Used the splice connectors the first time and my camera would work sometimes and then not work other times. Moved the antenna around thinking it was that but it still happened. Then I re-did my connectors with butt connectors with heat shrink and it works 100% of the time now.
Wow, I have this camera and is a great must have for me. Today like every Sunday I take my dogs for a walk to the beach and suddenly I saw my backup camera stop working, and it didn't work either way to the beach or back home. Now at least I have a clue on where to aim my search. (Sorry for my english, I'm chilean) Thanks so much!

Get rid of those connectors. I got repeat calls because if them. The aluminum connector bends too easily and does not even touch the wire properly creating intermitant contact and even burns up because of poor connection.
At the end during the ratings section, you said that this camera was by far the "easiest" to install. Since you've checked out other such backup cameras, how do they rate for quality of picture etc.?
Great review with installation instructions. Thanks you! FYI I bought the audio vox digital wireless backup camera kit on Amazon, which appears to be the same product as the one you show.

One of the cleanest and best video on installation of dash cam. I watched many videos but wasn’t confident enough to start installing dual dash cam in my mini van, but after watching your video, I got confidence that it’s not difficult to install for a novice like me. Thanks for explaining in simple language and complete details on hiding wires, specially for rear cam.
Man that was genius just putting the camera wires into the harness port holes to figure out which wire was positive/negative. Thank you thank you thank you 😊
Question. When splicing, you say "black to black, red to red', but in fact what you connect is red to green. Why is that? I can see there IS also a red wire in that rear light but you don't touch it. How did you determine that the green is the one you need please?
That is the reverse bulb of the taillight. Two wires going to that bulb. Black is ground other wire is hot. Wanna figure out which bulb is reverse get a buddy to go in vehicle and put in reverse and keep track which bulb goes on. That way when vehicle goes into reverse backup camera turns on.

Will this product work on the back of my RV. About 30’ farther away I am guessing than a normal install. I would wire it to be live as I need to see my boat or bike rack as we travel.
My brother has had a lot of Coffee. Great instruction video. Like you I was surprised to learn that “wireless “ meant that I had to wire the cable to my backup lights. I’m not very mechanical. But if I could do it you can too!
So question with this camera! I am thinking of using the camera inside the horse trailer so I can check on the horses while traveling. Simple to have the reat camera hooked to a battery pack or trailer?
Wonder what would happen if you hooked it up to your running lights so it was on anytime your running lights were on, because I would like it to be on all the time I'm driving. You can do this in a couple vehicles, mainly teslas and it's so nice! Also some newer vehicles have an option of having a camera view as your rearview mirror if you want (my 2021 rav4 had this [and I used it all the time], but I sold the vehicle and am currently thinking about buying a jeep patriot which most of them don't have a backup camera).
Hi, this is an amazing review and I'm going to buy it. I tried to get it on Amazon and the discount link doesn't work I know it's three years later, so just wondered if it's still eligible?
Welp, you talked me into it. What sold me was the near pitch black night time demo and how it works with almost no light at all. Most of the other backup cameras need IR sensors and LED's to do even half what this can do with just the backup lights. I also like how it has an extended range, hard to find wireless cameras that will work the entire length of a full size truck like mine. The only downside was the suction cup holder for the monitor, not sure if I got a defective one or what, but it sucks. Even with the sticky stuff on it, the suction cup just would not stay adhered to any surface, even my windshield. I'd mount it, then as I tried to put the monitor on it would just fall off, no matter if the tab was engaged or not. Luckily I noticed that the swivel had the same sized ball end that most others do and I dug out another one I had that has a much superior suction cup on it and it all worked fine after I swapped the bracket for the monitor to it :D
@@Un1234l Yeah, still haven't used the provided holder, tossed it in the trash, but so far everything else still working fine. I just use another "cheap" holder with a similar suction cup and it holds like steel.

I have a motor home....how far does the wireless signal work? Also I assume that if you fix the camera to a be constant power it will be on all the time, rather that when in reverse ? (which is what I want).
Honestly you will have to test it out, however I wouldn’t see why it wouldn’t work from that distance. Also yes if you have constant power it will be on all the time.
Great video. Question: over what distance with the wireless work? I have a long wheelbase van, will it communicate over 15 to 20 feet, front the front to the back of my van?
I think it should work for that van actually. It does depend on if there are many things blocking the signal. You should give it a test to see if it works, and if it does work you can keep it!
This appears to be a generic Chinese camera sold under several brand names, it’s not available anymore. The Auto Vox w7 seems to be the same exact thing.

Best tutorial for this! Placing my order!
Thanks for your video.
Can we use these cameras with Garmin gps as a display unit?
Great video. Question: over what distance with the wireless work? I have a long wheelbase van, will it communicate over 15 to 20 feet, front the front to the back of my van?
I think it should work for that van actually. It does depend on if there are many things blocking the signal. You should give it a test to see if it works, and if it does work you can keep it!
Nice vid. Thanks man!
So theres no way to connect this to an aftermarket head unit? You must use the included monitor?
Grizzle Gear you could probably do it actually. Just a lot of electrical l
Can i use this camera as a front view camera and the monitor? And can i make it like as needed basis only like when im parking for example?
This appears to be a generic Chinese camera sold under several brand names, it’s not available anymore.
The Auto Vox w7 seems to be the same exact thing.
Slow and a bit too fast-talking in the beginning but after watching all the way through it was a great video. Humor, informative, oh and I loved when you showed a cat being tucked away lol. Here is my problem though I was searching on how to mount a Scosche back up cam and this popped up. They have only ONE video and it does not explain much. First off let me say I love driving fast backward, I am a pro at it. But when it comes to backing up slowly and not hiding things I am horrible. Is there any way you can help me? I have a 2010 Honda Sport Fit and I have no plug-in outlet I have looked and looked but nothing so can I even get this thing hooked up without it?
Thanks for your comment. I like the little kitty also lol! So you will require a plug in socket. Unless you have a Honda Fit I don't know about your car should have one: ruclips.net/video/fN6D2voMUzg/видео.html&ab_channel=LehewTech
Do you have any recommendation of Wifi Backup camera to tablet (or ipad)?
amzn.to/3LhD9fx Something like this?
This still a good one? Using an older car without anything and would like a backup camera
yes this is still a great one.
Does this have a beep sensor letting you know when your getting to close to hitting something 🤔🤔🤔
Is there a camera that the display can be used for other things like to mirror to phone to it so I can see my GPS and music without having to use look at my phone??
