@@dronefilmsgermany Hello, yes. What I did was remove the “reverse” bulb socket on the taillight as if I was going to change the bulb. Make sure you turn the ignition on (Dont start the vehicle!) and put the car in reverse so the backup lights come on. It would be wise to have someone in the drivers seat so the vehicle doesn’t roll.. You can usually tell which one of the wires on the socket is the positive wire, but if you can’t you will need a test meter or test light to find which wire is the ‘HOT" 12 volt wire. Once you find the wire, you splice the 12 volt positive wire on the camera into the 12 volt positive wire on the bulb socket. They make crimp wire splices and the camera may even come with one. Once you splice into the wire and put everything back together. The camera will automatically turn on each time the vehicle is put in reverse. I hope this helps you. Good luck.
Thanks for this!! I'm a first time driver and soon going to be a first time car buyer and I'm going to buy a used car under 2k. I can ask one of my mechanic friends to hook this up to my car. The rear back up cameras comes with a bigger price tag for my broke self lol
If you install a wifi camera that shows the feed on your smartphone, don't connect it to the reverse light! You may need to manouver your car and then you have to reconnect your camera to wifi over and over again. Connect the camera to your normal red rearlight, so when you turn on your lights it also powers your camera and keeps it on wifi.
This thing is absolutely perfect for my 2003 Camry. There is a space for it right in front of the gear shift AND the cigarette lighter socket is directly behind it.
The splice connectors will suffice just know that if suddenly your backup camera is not working that those splice connectors are the most likely culprit. Using them on the interior of a car is usually ok because it is out of the elements but depending on the car sometimes it will be exposed to the elements quite a bit at the reverse bulb area. I have repaired many automotive add ons using these style connectors and it is usually trailer harnesses etc... if you are proficient to do it another way, I would recommend it (particularly if you basically intend on keeping the car forever) LOL at the chewbaca part
Same happened to me. Used the splice connectors the first time and my camera would work sometimes and then not work other times. Moved the antenna around thinking it was that but it still happened. Then I re-did my connectors with butt connectors with heat shrink and it works 100% of the time now.
Wow, I have this camera and is a great must have for me. Today like every Sunday I take my dogs for a walk to the beach and suddenly I saw my backup camera stop working, and it didn't work either way to the beach or back home. Now at least I have a clue on where to aim my search. (Sorry for my english, I'm chilean) Thanks so much!

Hi. Is this still a good option after 3 years? I saw in Amazon a pro version to use 2 cameras. I would like to use one as a truck backup camera and second one as a trailer backup camera. Do I have a better option in 2023 ?
Great video. However i’m concerned about possible theft to the camera since it is a little big. You said you have tried many. Can you recommend a similar product with a smaller less obvious camera?
hey , wonder if you know about a number plate camera that records like the dash cam , to use as evidence if for an accident or security purpose , thanks
Get rid of those connectors. I got repeat calls because if them. The aluminum connector bends too easily and does not even touch the wire properly creating intermitant contact and even burns up because of poor connection.
Man that was genius just putting the camera wires into the harness port holes to figure out which wire was positive/negative. Thank you thank you thank you 😊
Welp, you talked me into it. What sold me was the near pitch black night time demo and how it works with almost no light at all. Most of the other backup cameras need IR sensors and LED's to do even half what this can do with just the backup lights. I also like how it has an extended range, hard to find wireless cameras that will work the entire length of a full size truck like mine. The only downside was the suction cup holder for the monitor, not sure if I got a defective one or what, but it sucks. Even with the sticky stuff on it, the suction cup just would not stay adhered to any surface, even my windshield. I'd mount it, then as I tried to put the monitor on it would just fall off, no matter if the tab was engaged or not. Luckily I noticed that the swivel had the same sized ball end that most others do and I dug out another one I had that has a much superior suction cup on it and it all worked fine after I swapped the bracket for the monitor to it :D

Wonder what would happen if you hooked it up to your running lights so it was on anytime your running lights were on, because I would like it to be on all the time I'm driving. Great video. Question: over what distance with the wireless work? I have a long wheelbase van, will it communicate over 15 to 20 feet, front the front to the back of my van?
I think it should work for that van actually. It does depend on if there are many things blocking the signal. You should give it a test to see if it works, and if it does work you can keep it!
Can the guide lines adjust left or right for car license that are on the left side on a 2006 rav4? It was not mention in the video how to adjust the lines.
Fantastic video! .In your opinion, would you buy this backup Camera . Over buying a mirror back up camera, the one that goes over your rear mirror?. Thank you for your time!! From a new driver! 😀
So it really depends on what look you want. Because the one that goes over your mirror is kind of bulky and this screen goes in the corner. They both work well however its about what look you are going for. IMO I like this method better because I don't like the bulky mirror.
I have a motor home....how far does the wireless signal work? Also I assume that if you fix the camera to a be constant power it will be on all the time, rather that when in reverse ? (which is what I want).
Honestly you will have to test it out, however I wouldn’t see why it wouldn’t work from that distance. Also yes if you have constant power it will be on all the time.

Is there a camera that the display can be used for other things like to mirror to phone to it so I can see my GPS and music without having to use look at my phone??
cool, cool but is there a version of this that supports front and back? or maybe front and back to the phone I do not want this bulki screen at all, if I need i want to whip a phone and connect it.
Will this work to have the camera placed on my travel trailer bumper? If it's wireless, will it transmit that distance - 15" travel trailer and another 7' or so from car back to front display unit.
You can definitely do this.Just want to be sure that you connect it to a switched ignition source and NOT a constant power source.Otherwise you might have a depleted car battery.👍
Out of curiosity, do you have an idea what range the camera has from the base? I want to get one and mount it in a magnetic base so that I can stick it on the back of a trailer occasionally, but still use it on the truck.
wHERE'S the wireless components go? I have an Envoy XUV with a dual action tailgate and am stumped because the tailgate opens both by hinging on the right side like an old Ford Station Wagon, or by folding down like a pickup. I can't have the wires going thru the cargo area, because it can be wide open to the elements. Because of the dual-action tailgate, it has the rear window that goes down into the gate so not sure I can run wires from the license plate bracket...

Your work is amazing. Can you please guide me how to connect the camera 12V to the reverse light. In case I don't want reverse light as my trigger is there any other way to activate the camera? Maybe I just add a 12V Battery in the car. *Mini One.
Is there a camera that the display can be used for other things like to mirror to phone to it so I can see my GPS and music without having to use look at my phone??
World this work the same way for a car play that provides backup camera for rear parking?
Thanks for your video.
Can we use these cameras with Garmin gps as a display unit?
cool, cool but is there a version of this that supports front and back? or maybe front and back to the phone I do not want this bulki screen at all, if I need i want to whip a phone and connect it.
u can have a mirror at the back to see the red line zone, that was used in the old days and it works, just not good enough

Hold on... All that cable tuckin and it still was wireless?
Will this work to have the camera placed on my travel trailer bumper? If it's wireless, will it transmit that distance - 15" travel trailer and another 7' or so from car back to front display unit.
It should, however you should test it out to make sure, and if it doesn’t work you can return it because it’s Amazon. I think it will work.
Brilliant. Do you think you could cut the cigarette connector off and wire the cables to a permanent live? As I don't have a cigarette connector
You can definitely do this.Just want to be sure that you connect it to a switched ignition source and NOT a constant power source.Otherwise you might have a depleted car battery.👍
Do you have any recommendation of Wifi Backup camera to tablet (or ipad)?
amzn.to/3LhD9fx Something like this?
Out of curiosity, do you have an idea what range the camera has from the base? I want to get one and mount it in a magnetic base so that I can stick it on the back of a trailer occasionally, but still use it on the truck.
Over 30 feet for sure. You should be fine.
wHERE'S the wireless components go? I have an Envoy XUV with a dual action tailgate and am stumped because the tailgate opens both by hinging on the right side like an old Ford Station Wagon, or by folding down like a pickup. I can't have the wires going thru the cargo area, because it can be wide open to the elements. Because of the dual-action tailgate, it has the rear window that goes down into the gate so not sure I can run wires from the license plate bracket...
So theres no way to connect this to an aftermarket head unit? You must use the included monitor?
Grizzle Gear you could probably do it actually. Just a lot of electrical l
how's the real life timing of the camera? does it lag?
No lag, uses it all the time.
Hi … it interferes with my iphone bluetooth connection to car stereo… when my iphone is connected via bluetooth to the stereo the music cuts out randomly tooo often. Even when the camera is not on. Its a constant inteference. How do i overcome this? Ve
Question on the wiring, you said black to black and red to red but you did black to black and red to green can you verify that it's correct in that order, this question was asked several times but you never answered it and oh yeah love your channel but please slow down you go to fast for some of us, thanks again.

@@KLEANTRIX oh yess i noticed that but last couple times i was able to use your code while it was on prime day sale, so saved me even more money, but regardless appreciate the effort and quick response, thanks you!
