It's sad that the Wii homebrew scene is larger than the Wii U. The wiiu has more power and hdmi.
@@newogame1 there is definitely a lot more potential with the Wii U. But the Wii sold much more so I guess it’s only logical that the Wii homebrewing scene js much bigger.

of homebrew is piracy.
the essence of homebrewing isnt piracy, but the act of using the hardware you purchased how you want to. some people want to pirate games, and all the power to them, but as a general rule its reccomended to only do so if you have no other means of accessing it

I actually did that and it was pretty cool. I also attempted to play minecraft 3ds edition on my wii u but by that point the lag was so bad that it broke and stopped streaming😂
I actually just ripped the WII U from its 7 year cacoon out of the garage. Im going to homebrew it now, and I cant wait to revive one of my most favorite consoles.

That's basically what I did 2 weeks ago. I mean I homebrewed it in the past but it collected dust when I bought the Switch.
Now I revived it with Aroma, a home menu dark theme for the Wii U as well as vWii, all the amazing new ports (GTA 3, Vice City, Super Mario 64, Portal, Half-Life, Sonic 1/2/CD/Mania) Pretendo to play online, WiiLink to get all those beloved old Wii Channels back to glory and what should I say? It's kicking a$$es! What an amazing console it still is. There's even an Aroma-compatible port of RetroArch that you can find in Ploggy's signature on gbatemp. This thing is a beast, playing anything from NES/GB up to Wii U.

I actually just revisited the WiiU this past week. Now have it running Aroma CFW Environment, vWii CIOS installed with USB Loader GX and Nintendont. So now, have 2 hdds connected at once (one for WiiU WUP installs) the other for Wii titles and the SD card (256GB) for Gamecube games and will add emulators and roms later on

I modded mine a couple years ago and basically did the same thing. I did the U side first and waited a few weeks to do the vWii. Finally getting both homebrewed was awesome. I wouldn't recommend using SD cards for loading games as it tends to make them fail way sooner. Be sure to back up your SD. I use two HDD's, one for U side and one for vWii. My Gamecube and Wii games are on the same HDD. I only use SD for homebrew and transfering Wii U games.
@@r3tr0sp3ct3r Only using the SD card for about 5 GC games I'll play. Have a dedicated GC console and a GCloader ODE for that.
Great video dude! I love this console and play on it pretty much every day. Primarily just Cod, Zelda , and minecraft (i like legacy). Anyway i modded mine when i was 14 with cbhx which is a legacy cfw, and tweaking with it has been a hobby of mine since. I'd like to meantion that there are a few solid ports to it such as sm64, Oot (soh), two finaf ports (saw a great yt video), Sonic mania, gta 3/vc, bendy and the ink machine, as well as a portal demo and cuphead. These are pretty much the best/only ports to the console and i was hoping to give some of them more attention.

I just like being able to do what I want with my shit. Also physical games are literally dying.
I like hacking and modding in games and prefer to do it on real hardware as opposed to cemu, thats my reason why

As someone who is gonna homebrew my Wii U, I seriously cannot wait as I really want to play online again and play different rom hacks and mods.
Man i miss my wii u. Thing has been collecting dust for 4? Years now, maybe 5 even.
Wii U is still such a good console. I use it for every game from the GameCube, Wii and Wii U. It just feels better than emulating on my computer.

Same here. I used to own one but I don’t know where it is. I haven’t used it since 2020. Maybe I lost where it is when we moved out in late 2020 after our house had an electric fire. My mom managed to retrieve most of our assets but not my Wii U for some reason.
u can inject custom virtual console to play whatever of those games u want
not all games are injectable right now. i hope that changes, i bought all these retro switch controllers to play them with the original controllers.

I modded the f*ck out of my Wii (without the u) and my Mario Maker 2DS.
I don’t have my Wii U anymore because I don’t know where it is. All I have left of it are the game discs and cases, and the gamepad which won’t even turn on unless I plug it into the charger, and even at that I still need the console itself. Does anyone have any tips that could help me find it?

Not at all! One of the strenghts of modding a Wii U is how easy and quick it is. If you follow the guide correctly, you'll be done in 30-45 min. Kinda like the 3DS.

@@tzarg Well, yeah, you need one. Personally I use a 32GB one and it's more than enough. If you want to have a lot of Wii U games, those will be stored on an USB stick or external HDD/SSD, so don't worry too much about the size of the SD card.
The only reason I could think of for needing a big SD is if you download a lot of games from the unofficial h-shop (it's the e-shop but everything is free), because they will be downloaded to SD fist and only then installed to either USB or the internal storage. You can delete the file afterwards, once it's installed, to reclaim the space on your SD, though.
Also, if you want to have a lot of Wii and GameCube games on vWii, those are all gonna go either on the SD or on the USB. So keep an eye out for that too.
The bottom line is, if you want a lot of games on the Wii U side, you'll need a big USB, not SD: a 32GB card will be perfectly ok. However, if you want many games on the vWii side, then you'll need either a big USB or a big SD. The choice is yours, you don't need both for that.

Hey, my original wii broke down a few years ago and just yesterday a bought a wii u and spent over 250$ on it, I want to mod it but i REALLY cannot take rhe risk of it bricking, i do have a question though. Can i play real “legimate” backups on my wii u without modding it? Or is modding it nessasary. Because i dont want to pay 100$ to play twilight princess hd on a disc
You need to mod it as the store shut down. Mod it, download the ROM, enjoy. Nintendo shouldn't care, they can't make any money on it anymore
