Whitetail hunts are a different beast all together, isn't it? LOL!! Coldest sit I had for archery was a January morning, -6° and the wind was blowing 15 mph... Not sure what the wind chill is on that, but I tell you right now, I had on every I could, plus electric socks and warmers. It was loud walking in to my blind, but once I was in and settled, deer were moving. Also, when walking with a tree stand, try and either tie loose things down so they don't make that metal "clanking" sound. That will blow everything out by itself.
Here we go...our attempt at a DIY whitetail hunt in ND. The weather is COLD and we are rookies but the challenge will be fun. If you didn't know...we dropped a few new whitetail specific designs that are now live on www.gethushin.com. Thanks for watching the video and have a great evening!
I'm a huge whitetail hunter and love watching your videos! It's always easier if you can pattern the deer. I think you guys have the right idea! Just stay after them.
I always love seeing when guys who only western hunt get into whitetail and vice versa. Cool stuff. Neither is necessarily better than the other, just different tactics and habitat.
I still remember watching the video of you guys putting up this trail cameras! so awesome to see you guys back there hope you guys get a buck soon! Awesome video!
i dont know if you have a sponsorship with clothing companies or anything but im telling ya if you want to be warm in north dakota you need sitka gear. i use the fanatic elevated II set and i didnt get cold all year here in north dakota
One thing that works well for me is that if you put those toe warmers on the inside roof of your boot they will last longer since they will get exposed to less moisture from your toes.
Gonna be a tough one. Trail cams on whitetail can be worthless recorded that early. They totally change there habits after velvet comes off. Same as any animal though, except there a lot smarter than what your used to, just need to find the food source, bedding area's. River bottoms are best or fields left with crops still on. If all else fails, come to MN, I'll hook you up.
Enjoyed watching this video as I do all of them but this one was just a little different. I normally don’t like watching guys hunt whitetail but you guys make it different. Eric you might have to take that hound dog home with you, LOL!!!
If you got a food source for the evenings that's where you wanna be. If you have a good bedding area for the morning sits that's where you wanna be. Other than that after your there a day or 2 you will be able to put together a pattern and hopefully TAKE THE AIR OUTA a few of them Dakota Bucks, Good Luck & Stay Safe!
Awe man, tooo cold dude. You can do a white tail hunt in Northern Ark ,much more mild weather, hunt starts around Thanksgiving and you won't get frost bite lol brrrr I'm freezing just watching this lol
Seriously, I love your guys videos. You make me want to start recording my hunting, but I think solo hunting while recording might get in the way of me actually hunting.
Man I enjoy your vids. I hate the cold. Buddy of mine recently left N. Dakota after 6 years. Got several deer. Said they hunt for a while then hit the truck for a while back and forth. Good luck!!!
Welcome to whitetail hunting. You should get with the hunting public they can show you how to get it done. I enjoy hunting mules in the fall it’s so different from hunting Wisconsin. Best of luck.
Try to pin point food source, good possibility your going to find them grouped up either a few bucks with that last hot doe or just the common need to for nourishment. Sometimes you'll find that last hot doe pushed into a weird place away from the rest of the deer.
Too fast with the rattles try slower and with a push and pull type motion pace it out and try to make some clacks with a pause and the an explosion if you will of loud and soft impacts a pause as if they are pushing and add some "shings"(imagine two swords sliding off of each other lol) it's hard to describe but it's very effective and it simulates a battle really well and after the rut you can softly rattle or "spar" Wich is similar but much less aggressive and it simulates bucks rejoing the "bachelor" groups good luck! Guys!
Welcome to the tundra 🤣! Last buck I shot here with my bow it was 20F below zero. I love your videos! If I run into you I will let you use my heated blinds but looks like you are too far west.
I am a big believer in staying "scent free". I notice you guys wearing your hunting gear while eating, sleeping, etc. Does First Lite gear do that good of a job with eliminating scent?
This one is an interesting topic... We have several good friends who are very successful whitetail hunters who think the scent free stuff is more of a marketing ploy than anything. They are very concerned with their ground scent but otherwise play the wind, pump gas in their clothes and crush a bunch of bucks...many from the ground! Other friends spray everything down and seem to live life in and out of a clean room being very careful of how they manage their clothes.
Me and my best friend are planning a early season bow hunt in North Dakota next year. After watching this video I would love to obtain any kind of advice or info that would help us. We are from southwestern Pennsylvania.
Maybe a dumb question but why not rifle hunt that? It looks like you can glass forever and sit in those coulees and maybe see chasing bucks you can get shots at especially when it is windy and you don't want to be in a tree? Is it a limited area or time when rifles aren't allowed? Either way good luck stay warm and thanks for the content!
Was it illegal to set the stands when you were scouting during summer? Even though you didn’t quite know the deer movement at that point just wondering.
LOL you can tell you are a long ranger, gotta stay more quite on your walks in and out. i was cringing as those buckles were banging metal on metal on the Hawk Treestand.
O and u guys are little girls I don’t use hand warmers or foot warmers I have been hunting in Minnesota here in the -2/-11 and I just lay-off and make sure I got a good jacket and pants and it isn’t sitka it is woolmate fear from cabelas in east grand forks also
Eric always take the porcupine they are not a good animal to keep around. They destroy trees and eat the turkey eggs. I love what you guys do keep it up. Also you don’t need to carry the full frame backpack not on a whitetail hunt. I’d love to take you guys on a northern Michigan hunt. It’s something for you guys to experience serious whitetail hunting. And fishing during the day.
Go a little slower and more sporadic (more pauses) on your rattling sequence bud. Watch some vids of whitetail fights and just try to mimic what you hear.
Honestly don't know why people hunt whitetails from trees. Spot and stalk works for other animals. I would use same tactics find a high point and glass em up. Don't have the patience to just sit their and freeze. I keep checking to see when this series is over. So we can resume real hunting. This Crap is for the birds......
Hard to glass them up in pine thickets or the dark swamps on the river.most of what i hunt a 300 yard shot is a long shot but i do live in east tn its a different approach to hunting small areas.one day im going out west to hunt those places were one can walk all day and never see anyone
Oh come on Billy....you've got to get in a tree one time and have a big old buck come cruising past you grunting and chasing a doe. 100% you'd change your mind! Its fun tying out different styles and hunting different states : )

You guys need to come to South Dakota and hunt white tails!!!!
I'm a huge whitetail hunter and love watching your videos! It's always easier if you can pattern the deer. I think you guys have the right idea! Just stay after them.
South Dakota here, when it gets that cold and theres standing corn.. hunt the corn. Best of luck fellas!
Yep. And when it's cold af and the sun comes out and the wind does down the deer come out.
I always love seeing when guys who only western hunt get into whitetail and vice versa. Cool stuff. Neither is necessarily better than the other, just different tactics and habitat.
Between you guys and thp who needs cable TV! Great video can't wait to see what happens next.

Dude Martin is a boss at filming!
I still remember watching the video of you guys putting up this trail cameras! so awesome to see you guys back there hope you guys get a buck soon! Awesome video!
That drop tine buck caught on cam would be a nice trophy experience for that hunt, not huge but definitely some character!
You can tell it's cold by the sound of the snow.good luck guys.
Favorite Channel! Keep it up! Love you guys!
Hush needs more whitetail hunts!!
We agree...hopefully in 2020 we can have a better plan. It sure is fun, even though we are a bunch of rookies.
i dont know if you have a sponsorship with clothing companies or anything but im telling ya if you want to be warm in north dakota you need sitka gear. i use the fanatic elevated II set and i didnt get cold all year here in north dakota
Hardy hunt boys! The Little buck at 20:25 is a whiteTail not a second mulie. That’s how I know you’re freezing up
grew up in MN whitetail hunting....never move back, but sure love Idaho and elk hunting. Good try in ND, so far.
Its awesome how u guys make a different into for each series!!
Brutal when it's that cold.
One thing that works well for me is that if you put those toe warmers on the inside roof of your boot they will last longer since they will get exposed to less moisture from your toes.
Stay warm and get you and Martin a nice buck!
This is what i have been waiting for from you guys

That dog hugging you is so funny 😂😂
I’ve been wanting to see this hunt good luck
Gotta love that sound when a deer is walking frozen ground like at 19:15
Good video, enjoyed the hunt. But that has to be brutal especially with the wind. Best of luck to you all. Food looks great.
you guys are the best hunters out there
Keep the whitetail vids coming!
Enjoyed watching this video as I do all of them but this one was just a little different. I normally don’t like watching guys hunt whitetail but you guys make it different. Eric you might have to take that hound dog home with you, LOL!!!

Awe man, tooo cold dude. You can do a white tail hunt in Northern Ark ,much more mild weather, hunt starts around Thanksgiving and you won't get frost bite lol brrrr I'm freezing just watching this lol

So loved that EC. THAT WAS money
Seriously, I love your guys videos. You make me want to start recording my hunting, but I think solo hunting while recording might get in the way of me actually hunting.
Always a good watch with you guys, content was solid need to drop a mock scrap and urine.. something for them to key on..
Man I enjoy your vids. I hate the cold. Buddy of mine recently left N. Dakota after 6 years. Got several deer. Said they hunt for a while then hit the truck for a while back and forth. Good luck!!!
Next trip here to ND….GROUND BLINDS!!! (and a little propane heater lol) Our lovely ND winds get brutal!
Awesome video, nice to see you guys back in ND. When it gets closer to 0 and windy sitting in the treestand is brutal isn't it lol
Welcome to whitetail hunting. You should get with the hunting public they can show you how to get it done. I enjoy hunting mules in the fall it’s so different from hunting Wisconsin. Best of luck.
U guys stopped at scheels in grand forks, I know u did! I live 7 miles south of the Canadian border in Minnesota
Thanks for the vids keep it up🦌
looks like so much fun.
Loved the intro edit.
Next time use evercalm in you boots and tree it helps a lot on the wind switching. Keep up The awesome content I enjoy it👍👍
Eric can you walk through your first lite layering technique for different weather conditions?
In this series....put on all of your gear...every single piece! That's how cold it is! LOL
@@gethushin understood haha I hunt Wisconsin and am more looking for strategies. Like wicks, fuse, kiln, furnace, hoodie, down, solitude, etc.
I love what u do I try to sub to u guys on all my Devices and I do what all of ur vids
Thanks, Rowan!
You definitely don’t want dog cover scent😂😂😂
Ya but its hard not to pet the hounds
Hunt the dawn hours - get ink the tree while still dark
Try to pin point food source, good possibility your going to find them grouped up either a few bucks with that last hot doe or just the common need to for nourishment. Sometimes you'll find that last hot doe pushed into a weird place away from the rest of the deer.
Come to Valley City it is about 2 hrs away from Bismarck
Love those black racks. I rattled my buck in this year on November 6.
Guys!
come on down to AZ for these big elk and deer
Welcome to the tundra 🤣! Last buck I shot here with my bow it was 20F below zero. I love your videos! If I run into you I will let you use my heated blinds but looks like you are too far west.

That's the problem we face in ND everything is farming I couldn't get lost in the woods if I tried

hey i live in North Dakota, just wondering which part of the state your hunting in???
We were west of Bismarck
Hushin are you guys planning on come back anytime soon
From my experience it has seemed that the best time for buck movement has been noon to two for me anyway.
Surely you knew ND gets brutally cold in Winter!
What kind of stealth cams r those
Was it illegal to set the stands when you were scouting during summer? Even though you didn’t quite know the deer movement at that point just wondering.
Looks cold I’ve been working over in ND for the past 6 months
LOL you can tell you are a long ranger, gotta stay more quite on your walks in and out. i was cringing as those buckles were banging metal on metal on the Hawk Treestand.
You guys always eat good
I have hunted around the country a bit and I know that it gets cold in ND! Maybe head south to Kansas again! Ha ha...
Or Alabama!
I shot a buck this year that looked like that freak buck he scored 160,and had 16 points
Now some white tail action
As a north dakotan I see lots of problems with how you did this hunt. But just like me you gotta learn. Took me 4 seasons to get a buck!
SE Montana has the big bucks. 30" muleys. Monster typical whities
What heater are you using for the camper?
Mr. Buddy Heater with plenty of ventilation
@@gethushin Thanks!!
Keep at it key is little hunting pressure don’t let the deer pattern you
If you're struggling with the cold and wind hunt out of a pop-up with a mr.buddy heater.
Where do you find chicken with backstraps that big and red? Lol
LOL...we noticed that too during editing and thought it was too good to cut out!
You need to come to Nebraska for whitetail. No joke and won’t cost ya a dime . I can hook a brother up.
Too cold to be in a tree stand. I might have got a ground blind with a little heater or a body heat suit like they use in Canada!
O and u guys are little girls I don’t use hand warmers or foot warmers I have been hunting in Minnesota here in the -2/-11 and I just lay-off and make sure I got a good jacket and pants and it isn’t sitka it is woolmate fear from cabelas in east grand forks also
What Broadhead do you use, I’ve been trying to pick broadheads for next season
Sorry guys, why all the private land hunts this year?
Eric always take the porcupine they are not a good animal to keep around. They destroy trees and eat the turkey eggs. I love what you guys do keep it up. Also you don’t need to carry the full frame backpack not on a whitetail hunt. I’d love to take you guys on a northern Michigan hunt. It’s something for you guys to experience serious whitetail hunting. And fishing during the day.
I love you guys but you need to invest in reusable plates!
Tuck a pop up in one of the thickits b junp around have small buddy heter nice try good job
Next time go late october
Great hunt and love watching your videos but not a good idea to jump the fence with all that stuff on your back. You could have got hurt easily.
Put you time in and keep the wind in your favor.

Don’t ever do this again South Dakota is better
