Check the o-ring that goes between the pick up tube and oil pump. Common problem with gm 4.8-5.3s. O-ring splits and the pump pulls air.
and in older motors, they pickup can get plugged with sludge as well.
The oil pickup tube gasket has failed in all 10 of our Chevy work trucks, good idea Mike.
The fuel in the oil may of compromised the integrity of that O-ring. 👍 🇬🇧

Wait till Advanced Auto figures out how many of James axel shafts have mysteriously failed.
You could build a large airbox in the passenger compartment in the Jet Mullet, and feed it air from the base of the windscreen and various other places, the front of the car for instance and even through the roof, that way you can have balanced aerodynamics left/right for high speed

Try putting a oil pressure gauge on it, meaning a mechanical pressure gauge to double check it
Once Ruby's oil pressure issue is fixed you guys should run some 20w50 in there.

happens with truck motors all the time, change the oil pump and seal, had to do a few trucks with over 100k before

It’s a shame McFarland fabrications was too busy to do the cage but these guys look like the do some solid work.
3.0 should be a top to bottom build, get a complete rebuild kit bore the motor and put nice parts in and get a high performance oil pump instead of a stock one.
When are we going to see a race between Ruby and Leroy? Since they are getting closer in times that would be a fun race!

Oil senders are a issue with these and oil pump bypasses and oiling in general. I had to fix some sort of oiling problem every day when I worked for GM .... I mean , 🎵 like a rock 🎵🎶.... quality built, job one 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂, swap a yote in Ruby and be done.

i tried to get into it in real life but never found anyone to respect and having to work as an apprentice for over 4 years to not even be granted anything after was off the list, i thought id take something that didnt run my nose in shit instead, always wondered if i could of gotten somewhere in welding. problem is too many people dont want to pay the prices on welding.
The shop that fabricated my turbo manifolds has a German guy working there and he works random hours just comes in does the welding and leaves but he is an absolute artist at his work wish there was a way to share a picture on here.

ITS THE OIL PAN PICK UP TUBE O-RING. The oil ring rots and air mixes with the oil. 4.8 you MUST change that o ring if you want oil pressure. It's like drinking your Mountain Dew through a cracked straw

In reality an engine only needs as much as 5psi oil pressure ...
It's not running a pull and they just changed the oil, you can rev it up a little and make sure it's bled any air out of the system, which did scavenge a few PSI. Still not enough to prevent it cooking itself during a pull though haha
psi REQUIREMENTS =7 pounds per 1000 rpm with A minimum OF 15LBS

I wish people understood the difference between a youtuber trying to get a car back together in a couple days, vs someone spending months doing it. Obviously you're going to have more issues when you're just swapping an engine in and out in a day and sending it at the track, than if you spend weeks going through and doing another engine, but if you didn't people would complain you take too long.. can't win. Keep up the junkyard swaps. Get an Ly6 and show people what's up. lol

Alcohol fuels end up diluting the engine oil rather quickly- especially in cars like this. It never really gets to evaporate the fuel out of the oil. Methanol engines quiet often only run the oil through the engine once and the dump it into a puke tank! Not shit. If your not doing that, meth cars usually drop the oil after only 1 or 2 passes
