I just realised how close Sainz’s career is compared to Alonso’s:
Alonso : Minardi > Renault > Mclaren > Ferrari
Sainz : Toro Rosso (ex Minardi) > Renault > McLaren > Ferrari

Alonso went back to Renault in between his time in McLaren and Ferrari, but it's almost scary how similar their careers are!

If you've seen s2 of drive to survive, you know how hard Carlos had worked to get into this position. He knew his car wasn't the fastest, which is why he shifted from Spain and chose to stay close to McLaren HQ. He used to go there everyday for 10-12 hours and talk to the engineers as how to make the car more and more responsive and suit to his driving style. He deserves all the attention he's getting now. I wish he best for him. Many many more podiums and wins to come for you Carlos.

I remember Sainz being worried about him not having a seat when Ricciardo replaced him in Renault, then McLaren took him in, did a good job there, which led to this, A SEAT IN SCUDERIA FERRARI!
