The Patron poll pick for August, thank you Patrons! As the direct sequel to Final Fantasy 12 and another installment in the Ivalice Alliance, this was a simple but functional RTS on the DS that was pretty fun back then and aged fairly well. Have you noticed that Final Fantasy sequels are typically very different battle-wise from their original installments? I appreciate the effort to differentiate and I get the feeling a lot of people missed this one, so I hope you enjoy as the gap is filled. I liked how they emphasized it being Vaan's story and did not lean on throwbacks from FF12. Next RECAPitation: Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (Xenosaga Episode 2 and Zero Time Dilemma ARE in development)
More Castlevania in time for the Spoopy Spookiness and for the thrilling conclusion of the Zero Escape series. And with Xenoblade is getting a definitive remake edition, hyped for more Xeno goodness

This has interesting implications for the story of Final Fantasy Tactics, since they both take place in Ivalice. Seems that the use of the stones would cause people to lose Anima, perhaps this is what caused them to become Zodiac monsters. Altima also appears as an Angel in the game.

While significantly flawed, Lost Magic is also an RTS on the DS. It has a great, pretty original, and rather robust magic and spellcrafting system, as well as monster recruitment to serve as your units on the battlefield. It's definitely rough around the edges though. It's insanely hard for one thing, and even within that the difficulty curve is extremely erratic. A lot of its difficulty stems from stacking the odds against the player by placing massive restrictions on the player that your enemies never have, and most frustratingly there is absolute no plot justification for any of them. You just can't do a ton of shit your opponents can because fuck you I guess lol. All that being said, the story is decent if a bit simple, the soundtrack is great, and there's really nothing else quite like it gameplay-wise. Cant blame you though.
lol
Larsa best girl
After all those years i played XII i had noooo idea a sequel existed
This is my first final fantasy game
Great video man
13:07 I Love How Vaan just Punch Balthier in The Face 🤣
Yeah, and for some reason, Balthier doesn't bite his face off.
Was hoping there would be more explanation for saint ajora galbados here.
I would give anything to see you do a recapitation of FFXIV 1.0-4.0
12 is my favorite FF game and this seems like a great sequel
i loved this game in my ds it was like pokemon but with no limits beasts espers majick i want a modernized remake so badly
Final Fantasy 12 needs a proper sequel 👍👍
>Directed X-2 and the XIII Trilogy
Oof...
Beginner's luck?
Wait a sec...i thought Basch started impersonating Gabranth, after ffxii resolved...?
Yeah, and you can see he's still wearing Gabranth's Judge Magister armor and loosely hanging around Larsa.
I imagine in this company he's fine with getting called Basch if they refer to him by name.
This game is still one of the best ff spinoff games like ring of fates
Is there like a game or story on what happens after revenant wings?
The closest thing is Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift (yes it's a mouthful), but it's not really a followup to 12 or Revenant Wings. It's a largely unrelated game that just happens to take place in Ivalice and Vaan and Penelo eventually come into the story and join you as party members, though they do not play a significant role and are very much just ancillary fan-service characters. It does canonically take place after Revenant Wings though, and Vaan's outfit even gets a tasteful update.
Awesome stuff
Game got a raw deal legit fun and debatably a more interesting story than base 12
Would you do a video for Vagrant Story?
They meet a winged Bishononen named Lewd...I see where this is going.
This is 4 in my top ten DS game list.
I've played nearly every final fantasy game since the original for NES and my favorites are (USA versions)
Final fantasy tactics
Revenant wings
3
2
7
8
Great games !
I actually think the gameplay of this game is more fun than XII
Hot take: Revenant Wings has a better story than the actual FF12 and it's not even close.
but FF 12 is not in an aids console like 3DS
Seems like so
I didn't know the first game had a sequel?🤔 Strange? I never saw a commercial about this game? or something?😐🤷 I don't know!
Never knew this game existed!
I use to have this game but never completed it
Why do you pronounce it like 'enema'?
Skies of Arcadia should be remastered too
Awesome!
Also FFXI series, XIV and XV recapitation soon
It would've been interesting to this game be a sjrpg instead if an RTS rpg.
I wish it was on the psp. :-(
Same, i can't stand this split screen
I really wish this game played better
Every time you say "Anima", I'm hearing "Enema" 😂 Great video!
*We found Thanos.*
Final fantasy tactics 3
Please do final fantasy 11.
I wasnt a huge fan of 12. It was very meh for me. Not terrible, but just meh.
Better than FF12!!
I hear "enema" lol
WTF?! I've never heard of this!!!
jesus basch was op in the game XD
I love the story but the gameplay is just plain awful and tedious. They should've made it a bit similar to Kingdom Hearts DS. It could've been better imo.
So it's basically a perfect XII sequel
Ya'll thought MOBA's were a PC thing. Guess again sweatie UwU
man, i know what i need to download on the emulator next, its like the bastard child of ffxii and golden sun
This game is fat better than Final Fantasy XII itself
Lol nope. At least not gameplay wise.
yay vaan ponello
still waiting for GTA series recap
