- I am doing a DE to HR swap on my 350z and decided to make a video on what you need and how your to swap it . I will be making another video when I’m swapping the process . This video will explain what you need to start a DE to HR swap
To recap because I'm doing this myself in the coming year:
- VQ35HR (Long block)
- JK41B Transmission
- 2007 - 2008 Clutch Master Cylnder/CSC
- 2007 - 2008 VQ35HR Clutch (Upgrade the flywheel while you're at it imho)
- 2007 - 2008 Radiator & Fans (Or modify the current ones, just won't look perfect)
- 2007 - 2008 Water Reservoir
- 2007 - 2008 Power Steering Hoses (Or custom ones)
- Re-route the brake booster
- 2007 - 2008 ECU (NATS also would need to be disabled. NATS is Nissan Antitheft; Sometimes included in Harness Services)
- 2007 - 2008 Harness (And Wiring harness service, unless you can DIY this yourself lol)
- 2007 - 2008 Starter & harness
- 2007 - 2008 Hood (I believe I read that there is a set of mounts that will allow you to adjust this to be lower)
I believe I got everything important.
Then there's:
- AC, which requires all AC lines & the 2007 - 2008 condenser iirc? (I'm not doing AC, no point imho, it's not my daily lol)
Assuming the person doing this swap would understand that they would need to have 2007 - 2008 intake/exhaust or whatever method for each, being that it's common knowledge if you're modifying your 350z.
If anyone in the future is looking at doing this too, consider the VQ37 Short Block bolts perfectly up to the VQ35HR Heads, thus you can have a VQ37HR with a stronger bottom end, which is great for light boost applications (As you won't need to worry about any major failures if you're only looking for 500 - 600whp).
I just came across your channel and had to sub I’ve been wanting to swap my revup to HR thanks to you I might just do it now. Can you let me know where you would get the engine harness for the swap? And also didn’t the 06 revup come with the same transmission as the HR? Keep up the vids!
You have to buy a HR harness and you can hit up hexamotorsports on Instagram they have a website and they do hr engine swap wiring services . You have to send them ur DE harness and the hr harness in the mail so they can splice it up and make it compatible on ur chassis and u also gotta send them ur ecu so they can do a NATS DELETE
And for the tranny u gotta use the cd009 the revup tranny is different
Are you still using the original steering rack?
How much would that swap cost?
I’d like to know too!
Depends on what you can source the VQ35HR and Transmission for. All the other parts are relatively inexpensive, minus whatever mod parts for the vehicle.
Where did you get your harnesses done at I’m looking for some one to do my 240sx s13 for a vhr harnesses
Hexamotorsports on instagram 🤝
How did you deal withs Nats? Did you get it deleted and whats the part number on the ecu that you are using?
NATS is dealt with via flashing the ECU, Uprev works great for this. Any 350Z HR ECU will work. Its recommended to stick with the 2008 ECU as the 07's had some issues with throttle recalibration.
5.7K for all parts not including labor if your paging someone
I spent about 3k for everything in total with parts
Wait u need a hr transmission? I thought they had the same trans so there was no point
Did you find out yet cause I need to know too cause I’m HR swapping and don’t know if I can keep my transmission
@@milesjohnson3354 The bell housings are different between the DE and HR motors. You will need the HR trans to do the swap.
You need the JK41B Transmission. The CD00x in the 2003 - 2006 350z will not bolt up to the VQ35HR. However, I recall reading that even the 370z (and thus the Q's) transmissions all bolt up fine, too (If someone wants to fact check this later, by all means).
Will this be the same for an 06 g35 sedan?
Yes
Why do you need an hr radiator?
The DE one doesn’t fit
@@daytonadan2812 prove it
The DE radiator does fit, however, the coolant pipes work a lot better and match up better with the HR radiator when you do the swap. You'll also need to run the HR fanset.
The 2003 - 2006 radiator doesn't have the appropriate supports for the reservoir, and if you're looking at using the exact stock tubing, I believe it wouldn't line up. I have saw a couple people off RUclips use the DE Radiator, but they're the people that have zipties holding up their car. If you're putting thousands into your car, spending $60 - 150 for a radiator really shouldn't be a big deal.
