- The ZGMF/A-42S2 Destiny Gundam Spec II is an upgrade of the old ZGMF-X42S Destiny Gundam, equipped with various new technologies to enhance its combat performance. Its colors have been slightly altered due to the increased strength of the Variable Phase Shift Armor, and it now uses a modern panoramic cockpit.
One significant feature of the Destiny Spec II is its ability to use the Deuterion Beam Energy Transfer System from its forehead to recharge the energy of allied mobile suits such as the ZGMF-56E2/α Force Impulse Gundam Spec II. Additionally, the Destiny Spec II has a new inner frame capable of improved performance, which glows bright red at maximum power output.

What i love about Destiny is that, is doesn't really have this kind of OP weapon like the DRAGOON, blaster backpack attachment like Freedom v1, multiple blade like Justice and it's jetpack etc, it's just an improve Perfect Strike with add on versatility, just add nuclear, powerful thruster and of course better maneuverability. Destiny is build specifically for Shinn skill after long experience of using Impulse. It really paid off seeing Shinn kicking ass with the Gundam that suits him.
I wouldn't say the Infinite Justice's multiple beam blades are an overpowered feature. It just gives it more options in close combat, which is typically only done against one or two mobile suits at a time, whereas the Freedom's projectile beam attacks can let it accurately disable an army of mobile suits in an instant.
The Destiny Spec II's ability to create clones of itself is kinda crazy though, and I'm not quite sure what to make of it because Shinn's final attack on the Black Knights does seem to suggest that they're more than just holograms/after images. That ability is definitely some degree of overpowered, but to be honest at this point in the movie I didn't care because it was a really cool moment, and it was clear that Shinn would've won anyways because the Black Knights were panicking and couldn't do anything to him.

Kira and Lacus lighted up the stage. And then Shinn jumped in halfway through and made it crash down. He tottaly out-unbelieved them. Like how they stole his honor and story halfway through.
I gotta say Shin ended up one of the best parts of the film, as someone who disliked him heavily in Destiny he was given a huge 180 in Freedom and became a very likable character. When he pulled off really awesome moves with the Destiny spec II I was actually pumped, never thought the day would come to say Shin was great but here we are.
Kira stole Destiny, so Shinn stole Freedom it's only fair.
Agreed. Now that Shinn's got the therapy he needs, he has the ferocity of a raging berserker without losing himself to insanity, and it makes him a much more likeable person as a result.
@@MrOmegatronic He actually uses that to his advantage when those black kight guys attempt to read his mind, him not thinking while fighting prevented them from doing so making him unpredictable.

I'm impressed that the writers not only essentially confirmed that he had legitimate mental issues during _Destiny_ , but turned what used to be a tenuous grasp on sanity into an actual advantage now that he has the emotional & mental support he needs. Glad he can "stop thinking" without just losing his ability to strategise or turning on his girlfriend/emotional crutch now!

Shin's reaction on seeing Destiny. it's like a grounded kid seeing his X-box controller hide by his mom.
Shin destroying the black knights with Destiny was the most satisfying fight of the entire movie. That and Athrun being a cunning little devil with remote control and constantly tricking his enemies with wit was so funny. I love that Athrun doesn't just rely on popping his seed to win raw fights. Almost in the entire SEED storyline any time he has ever popped seed, it was instant guarantee destruction of his foes because usually he's got them right where he wanted them or is finally trying for real (e.g. even fight with Kira with the Aegis + self destruct, Tbh Kira living is pure plot armor, Athrun totally won that battle as he was able to escape from the self destruct, + fight with Shin in destiny, etc)

It's ironic that Durandal's work was the one that put an end to Accord's Destiny Plan, bet they didn't see that coming lol

@@leo11lim She was a threat to his plans, unlike Aura who wanted her alive, Durandal wanted her dead. Their version of the Destiny Plan was different.
Which is incredibly ironic, as Kira stated at the end of Destiny. All Durandal had to do to win was to leave them alone, and he would have gotten away with everything. By trying to assassinate Lacus because he thought that she was a threat to his plans, he ironically gave her the motivation to stop him.
Shinn's career itself is an irony to Durandal's Destiny Plan.

I like how it wasn't Kira's Mighty SF not Athrun's Infinite Justice Spec II that put an end to the war, but Shinn's outdated machine with an internal upgrade along with its overkill attachment did, supported by a girlfriend now piloting his previous unit attached to literally a ship's cannon. You could say that his Destiny was finally fulfilled with that final shot

I like how even when Shinn's in SEED Mode and going all-out, he looks really calm.
Years of working alongside the guy who you previously tried to actually kill does wonders to him. Kira's a very kind leader-like boss to him and Shinn doesn't want to let him down in any way. He has Luna for moral support if Kira's absent as well. The Archangel/Millenium Crew is pleasant to be with, Shinn's found a happy place to be associated with. He even has a good relationship with Hilda and Mu. When Kira struggled when the Foundation betrayed Compass, Shinn's immediate plan of action was to disengage from helping defend to going to Kira's aid and only failed because the other Black Knights ganged up on him and he wasn't used to the Immortal Justice's specs and combat style. It was also understandable (even if he wasn't correct on it) when he thought Kira's attitude towards him later on was because of their past conflict in SEED Destiny. Kira has all the rights to be distrustful towards him, Kira apologized to Shinn that this wasn't the case, Kira's past life and guilt just came back to haunt him. In SEED Freedom, Shinn's serious yet retaining a sense of calmness is a sign of him maturing into one of the best ace pilots in the Cosmic Era but also into an adult with a much healthier mental mindset.
Everyone who activates SEED is like that though. Even Lacus went from 😄to 😶
@@SirStrikeFreedom Not true. Shinn went from being pissed to looking upset in SEED Destiny. In SEED Freedom, he went from looking annoyed to appearing very calm instead.

@@SirStrikeFreedom Yeah, the OG could be referring to Shinn from SEED Freedom or from SEED Destiny. In Freedom, he's far more calm when activating it compared to Destiny where he looked traumatized before and after it activated. My response to the OG was directed at the notion of it the post being about Freedom Shinn not Destiny Shinn. However, SEED Mode doesn't make everyone look calm all the time. In SEED, we had the battle between Kira and Athrun and they were anything but calm.

@@kumomeme7852Well, in my view...Though Destiny is a general purpose type, it should have been more CQC type. Don't get me wrong, Shinn is capable of mid to long range and close range, but he usually does CQC more than range combat as far as I know when he used the Impulse.
@@Socratic2308 first of all, shin literally does one of the coolest beam shots in the series with reflected shot against freedom.
But more importantly, destiny is just a perfected impulse in concept.
But the destiny IS leaning closer to a cqc type Ms, his wings of light to close the distance, and Palma fiacina are the 2 unique equipment of the destiny, and their both cqc focused.

The fact that the duplicates are mirage colloid but still look and function like a separate unit just shows how fast The Destiny Spec II is
It almost looked like it could do some quantum 00 teleporting at one point
Its a new particle names D.U.P.E but yes they combine with mirage colloid.
Keep in mind that this was a Shinn who is now mentally stable. A Shinn who has also went up against Athrun and Kira, one who is undefeated and one who has the craziest plot armour in the entire Gundam series, and has defeated both (technically he won against Athrun in a Zaku warrior with his Destiny) on one occasion. I would also like to note that his preferred style of combat was close to mid range, as evidenced by his preferred use of Sword Impulse and the Destiny's more CQC weapons. Meaning against the Black Knights whose whole thing is close combat but without any of the fancy manuevers the destiny can pull off, it was basically a cakewalk

Although it means nothing since ships in CE die quickly to MS weapons, seeing Shinn consistently using a *two-handed anti-ship sword* as his main CQC weapon against MSes, instead of a one-handed/double-bladed beam saber, is impressive. Even after he got suit upgrades, Shinn still stuck to the good ol' anti-ship sword for cutting *everything* up.
@@HeliosExeunt I think its overkill. Even if the beam part of the sword doesnt slice you in half, the impact from the force of the blade and resultant recoil will kill the pilot from inside the MS

Shinn's redemption!!! In Seed Destiny, he defended Requiem for Durandal. Now, he's the one who pulls the trigger to destroy Requiem meaning he moved on with his life.
Shinn was the MVP in this battle, so happy for him.

I just noticed now that the Back Knights cannot even lock on Destiny with their targeting laser because of how fast it was moving. Laser is a light so you know how fast that laser is
the thing about destiny is that it's basically a future proofed design, having the best tool to deal with black knight armor. fixing the power issue is all it takes for volture luminere system to push destiny speed equal to the fastest suit. SF design in contrast limit it's own wings of light without deploying the dragoon
- black knight armor can't tank melee beam saber and anti-ship level beam (destiny canon/SF chest canon/melee beam blade/physical weapon)
It's why being a jack of all trade can be useful. When someone counters you specific combat style, you need to be able to change quickly. Kira's far range tactics wasn't working against the high speed of the Black Knights, Shinn who can do both far range and close range was the perfect counter as shown when he was easily man handling 4 of them without seed mode or wing of light.

They finally give Shinn some Justice, after back in Destiny he was treated so dirty by being Manipulated by Durandal, Deceived by Rei and Having Stella killed.
Well, they did give him some Justice in the first half, and look how well that turned out for him.

Speed always wins. Destiny just go "Oh my enemies can read my mind and anticipate my moves, but are they fast enough to counter it" and just kill without thinking. Combined with shadow clone jutsu, those grunts didn't stand a chance.
Well in this case, the enemy can’t even read his mind because he barely think anything while fighting

The Green Black Knight suit is the only suit that Shinn specifically targets with 2 finishing moves. Probably as revenge for it destroying Immortal Justice. 😂

You'd think Shinn would be a bit hesitant out of guilt for the last time he piloted the Destiny Gundam. He did feel bad about it when Agnes called him "Freedom Killer" and a Durrandal's dog. But then again, he is pretty derp brained in this movie, so he probably doesn't think about it.
Nice detail: Shinn sliced open the Femtek armor with a beam boomerang. Then aimed his cannon INTO the damaged part of the Femtek armor. Thus allowing his beam weapon to penetrate.
IIRC Femtech armor can withstand small arms fire but not the likes of Destiny's long range beam cannon so regardless of the armor damage, the shot would still go through
It was smart move to do point blank attack on FT Armor since it can’t winstand high output weapons.
@@gabrielc.05 - Not true. Shura's suit with Femtek armor absorbed Strike Freedom's big belly beam cannon. The beam hit the Black Knight suit and the same beam absorb effect happened.
The only weapons that seem to penetrate Femtek armor are railguns, close range weapons like beam sabers, and Destiny's shining finger palm blast.
It's no coincidence that Shinn was aiming his beam guns into the damaged parts of the Black Knight armor to finish them off. He ripped open their beam proof armor, shoved his guns into the hole, and finished them off.
@@gabrielc.05 per the movie it seems it can withstand small missiles as well since Mu shot a missile from the Murasame. Image if you built a suit with Femo tech armor with phase shift on top you can block any long range weapons including rail guns and the best thing is femo tech doesn't require power so your getting more protection.
@@Nataku302 it is indeed small (beam) arms immune and yeah with the missile but I think that one happening owes to the small caliber of a Murasame's missile so the damage isn't apparent.

デスティニー本編では不遇だったが映画ではひたすら無双しまくってたのが本当に良かったしキラに頼られた時のシンの嬉しい表情が1番良かった。20年の月日で1番昇華された作品。デスティニーとシン･アスカを推してて本当に良かった。

I replay and watch the fights scene frame by frame the fights and realized how amazing the destiny movement/ the ammount of animation that animator put into destiny alone.
animation wise : animator really convey on how sluggish Shinn with Justice Compared to Shinn with Destiny. And Destiny fighting animation isn't just animation(movement by rigs) like the rest of the main protagonist MS who just using flashy animation.
Rather than just using flashy animation either by rigs or drawing. Destiny fights using flashy animation and added some extent of camera trickery too. Vanishing from left side of the screen to come back to the other side or the center of camera.

Such a cool move, Shinn spinning around with the thrust of the Wings of Light to increase the damage of his swing and break through the enemy's shield.
I can see the gundam vs game will copy this move
not to mention he kicked one of the black knights and used it as a stepping stone to attack another one.
Imo Shin is really creative with his piloting skill. Like trick shot, using terrain to his advantage and many other feats. People seem to forget about it .
@@azurial2016 Those that watch Shinn fight closely are the only knows that know how great of a pilot he is. He done things that Kira and Athrun never done before, and incorporates these tricks to his fighting style to throw enemies off. He's truly unpredictable when he has a stable mind.
Arguably the best part about the movie. Such a redemption arc for Shinn, now an official Jinchuuriki and heir to the famous shadowclone jutsu, wrong franchise man.

We also see Shinn piloting the Destiny in two different ways.
In Destiny, his mind was clouded and he was literally just an angry guy given an Gundam. SRW calls him out on this many times and it applies in the main series of SEED as a whole- Shinn in GSD wasn’t bringing out the Destiny’s full potential. He was just imposing his will on it and going completely berserk, spamming Wings of Light and Mirage Colloid everywhere and wasting energy and making himself predictable.
But as of GSF, where his mind is much more clear and his baggage isn’t holding him back and such, he’s finally able to show WHY Shinn was an Ace Pilot. Durandal was right that Shinn had natural talent, but now that Shinn isn’t constantly manipulated and for the most part knows what he’s fighting for, he’s able to fight more clearly. He still keeps his berserker mid-close ranged attack style, but there’s much more coherence in his fighting style along with fully utilizing the Destiny’s capabilities. Not only that, he’s not constantly wasting the Destiny’s energy either, only activating the Wings of Light at the most pivotal moments rather than right at the get go.

It's Crazy how he just make the 3 Black Night unit's a punching bag despite specs wise they are stronger but the Compatibility of Destiny and Shin is Really Make up the Difference he even showed them how's the real Multiple Cloning Atk is Done😂
I mean, they can guard with Femtek armor but the Arondight's length and weight plus the Destiny's high speed will just make it slice through with sheer impunity.
@@aetherdraw1281 Yup l also forgot to mention he is also accidentally Countering the Accords power because he doesn't think at all when fighting it's pure instincts I guess I their biggest mistake is trying to use his darkness against him since his Darkness makes him stronger😆
This third Act was all the mobile suit versus the pilot in the best way possible and it really shows just how strong the Gundam Seed Trio is turn off a specifically said their machines shouldn't be able to keep out with the Black Knights after all the data they stole from them play give them seats they're more comfortable with and they cooked

If you look at 2:02..... you can see all the Black Knights are killed in each own separate ways. One got stabbed, One got Palma-ed, and One got point-blanked Beam Launcher.
There are duplicates that are real and illusion. Destiny Spec II is GOAT.
I liked mighty's look, athrun's entrance and every. Single. Fucking. Second destiny was on screen. Shinn was a menace

@@Nataku302see how fast the Destiny defeat those 3 machines? They were strong and fast to actually caused trouble for Kira in Freedom, but Destiny were so fast that they did not even have time react and those machines exploded seemingly at the same time, and he did it without the help of any funnel. I don't think there was a gundam that fast before.
@@Nataku302The maneuverability of the destiny seems to have improved too. It feels smoother.
FYI, it wasn't just the upgrades, Shinn's skill improved. In the LN, they specifically stated several times it was an outdated machine, yet these improved coordinators couldn't even keep up with his movements, they thought their movements were being read, despite Shinn fighting almost instinctively. They were absolutely terrified lol
@@Moe_Infinity the accords over-rely on their abilities to read minds. But they couldn't do that with shin which gave them a severe debuff. Secondly, when hilda got the 1st kill, all accords felt the pain and fear of death of their dying comrade, thus paralysing them and making them fight worse than they should. That's the second debuff. I am not saying that Shinn didn't improve. But, an improvement in his skills wasn't the major reason he won 1vs3.

Shinn really got the same treatment as Andrew Garfield did in NWH. Him and the Destiny were the highlights of SEED Freedom.
As amazing as the MSF was but the Destiny Spec II did a lot more impressive feats. Not to mention how well Shinn knows the Destiny's capabilities (even before entering SEED mode, he's already done enough damage to the Black Knights)
Kira may have stolen the role as MC in SEED Destiny but Shinn became the MVP of SEED Freedom

Athrun is and will always be my absolute favorite Gundam character in Gundam History but it's hard not to absolutely adore Shan when this dude gets in the destiny that is a completely different character I absolutely love the justice but the justice is for Athrun When he gets in the destiny the theme the feel and the destruction that he called it is beautiful destruction lol

Even in MS Destiny, many people don't like Destiny gundam. But here, they kept the original design, with the addition of Kage Bunshin elements. Now Destiny has become fans favorite..
One thing I would like to see, Destiny uses a boomerang weapon as a beam saber in the attack movement..
The beam boomerangs already double-function as beam sabers too, just like the original Destiny
They do have functions of being beam sabers, but for some reason...Shinn only used them twice in the 2nd season. Damn plot...
@@Socratic2308 well, if you have a freaking Arondight beam sword, it just makes sense to use it than the saber mode of the beam boomerangs. Also, the beam boomerang function as kind of a ranged melee weapon too, so it's cool
@@FreedomExalia That’s where the problem comes in. After Destiny lost the Arondight a few times, he could have use his boomerangs as daggers or beam sabers since they are his close range auxiliary weapons, but no. They made Shinn an emotional wreck after he got Destiny.
@@Socratic2308 as we all have seen, there's another close-ranged weapon that the Destiny has-the Palma Fiocina. And since it doesn't need to wield it because it's literally housed in the hands, Shinn preferring it as his other melee weapon of choice makes sense. Well, it might have not worked against the ∞ Justice on their final fight, but on the other instances, it worked really well.
