Put Ricky, Steve and Karl together it's golden comedy.
I also love the detail like the books hip hop hooray and 4 non blondes 😂
This animation is perfect to the last detail.. if you set up a go fund for more longer animations then we’ll donate
Dicky Anderson on the lead, love it. Great work.
Had to do it to him! Thanks Dave
DICKERS! Ah he LOVES this show!
Just want to point it out again, he’s not wrong about the manhole cover, he just explained it so fucking horribly. They were doing underground nuclear tests so they put a cap over the hole with the bomb, essentially a manhole cover. They had a high speed camera pointed at the cover, when they blew the bomb for only one frame the cover was visibly moving. With some calculations they determined that the cover was going well above escape velocity, so in theory it would’ve been the first man made object in space but it most likely vaporized on its ascent
Students then?
A "Manhole cover" that weighed several tons IIRC.
2:16 the little leg flick with his intake of breath is a joy
Dude, you've only gotten started but your animations are truly the best successor to the official RGS I've yet to see. Thank you so much, these are fantastic!
Wow, that's extremely generous of you! I put so much work into it so I really appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed it!
Also, I'd recommend checking out Shaun James Animations. He's done a couple of fantastic XFM animations that would've taken a huge amount of work, and it's in a really great style too.
@@MichaelLeightonsKarlyPilkboys his are terrific, and very well drawn/animated. Personally I like your style and character design better. And your visual humor and cutaways are very reminiscent of the show.
Burst out laughing at the tongue animation when they're drinking out of the saucer 😂
A couple of things I noticed about this story (great animation by the way!) :
What I think Karl is talking about is Operation Plumbbob, one of the big nuclear test programmes in the '50s. They had been blowing up nuclear bombs underground, and they were getting far more yield than expected. It was actually causing some big issues, as the jet of flame from it was firing 100s of feet into the sky from the hole.
So they put a big, heavy iron cap on it for the next one (similar to a manhole cover, only much bigger - it weighed about a ton). This was to cut down on the jet of flame, and hopefully control things a bit more. It did not contain the explosion though, and it left the borehole at much greater than escape velocity. It was either vaporised or it actually left the planet altogether! That's the "... and they couldn't find it" part of the story.
Another small thing I noted, Steve and Ricky both get the traffic cone idea at the exact same time: 2:46 Steve says "let's put this cone" at the same time as Ricky says "traffic cone"
More often than not there is a real story behind Karl's versions, makes it even funnier to hear his interpretation 😂 Also, I don't know where you're from, but in England, traffic cones are basically hats for drunk students, so as soon as they mentioned students it was the obvious thing, I thought of them putting a traffic cone on it too 🤣🤣
I love seeing their faces. Always wonder what they would look like.
Finally an artist worthy of the pilkers, this is pure gold, never stop making these.
Pilkers, pilkers, little baldy roundy-headed pilkers. I will do, glad you enjoyed it señor Badger!
michael leighton
You really captured the essence of mr dilkingtons psychotic chimp like brain.
I have this image of pilky in the Auguste Rodin the thinker pose with a blank cat like look on his face wondering like listening to blur or oasis.
Cheers 🍻
The "Man 'ole cover" is one of my fav's of all time. You nailed it.
Thank you so much, I really do appreciate that a lot!
@@MichaelLeightonsKarlyPilkboys No. Thank you.
You have captured the roundness of Karl’s bald head perfectly.
Thank you!! I was unsure if it was a bit too much, so glad to know you like it!
I just finished binging the ricky gervais show...finding this made me so damn happy!!!
Happy to hear that! Really glad you liked it!
can always count on Karl Pilkington to make you laugh when you're feeling down
Agreed, always my go to
HAHAHAHA
Dickers gets a run as a random XFM listener
No way these are animated 😂😂 these are brilliant man I will watch every video you make
Thanks so much! Unfortunately had to take a bit of a hiatus due to work, but would love to get back to them when I have time :)
Nice touch with the sound effect from Karl licking the milk from the saucer from Jams Blunt..... Don't know anyone called Jams BLUNT MATE...
How have I only just come across these. Thank you for animating my favourite quote of all the XFM shows: Never saw the man'ole cover again...
A pleasure, glad you liked it! That was probably my favourite one to animate so far.
He's partially right about the manhole cover. Operation Plumbbob did send the bore cap upward as a speed of 150,000 mph.
Josh from after work reactions sent me here, your videos are awesome
Thanks Scott, I appreciate that a lot! Glad you liked it :)
@@MichaelLeightonsKarlyPilkboys keep them coming
Here straight from after work reactions. These animations are great mate!
Not sure how long youve been animating but for your first 2 animations they are amazing! Keep at it dude and who knows where it could take you, you have certain talent as the art style is unique! :)
Thanks so much, really glad you enjoyed them! I've been animating coming up to 2 months now. A steep learning curve and a lot of obstacles but it's really fun and love seeing others enjoy them. Have a great day!
Thats really impressive that you've only been animating 2 months! Wow!
I come from there too this is great
Just discovered your channel through After Work Reactions - very glad I did! This is really excellent work mate, well done! Funny stuff
Thanks so much goose, really happy you liked it! Working on another one right now :)
Wonderful job man! I love how Ricky falls of his chair 😅
Brilliant animation . Ricky looks like Tin Tin 😂😂
Thanks Vladimir :D
These are amazing great work would love to see the Richard Anderson complaints animated 🤣. Subbed once again brilliant work
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed it! That's actually a brilliant idea! I could splice them into other clips as a little interval thing, that would be really fun.
Here to second the suggestion. Would be cool to cut to him doing different stuff/cool situations.
So good man, make sure you send it to Josh at After Work Reactions 😂
Just noticed the titles of the books on the shelf 👌 excellent work.
Thanks, glad you liked it! Took me such a long time. Just sent him an email, hopefully he sees it :) Good spot!
@@MichaelLeightonsKarlyPilkboys I bet, can see how much effort you put in. Great I bet it'll be popping up on his channel soon :)
This is amazing! Imagine if Ricky caught wind, got nostalgic and they end up doing a single reunion podcast...
Thanks bud! I've been wanting them to do that for years. Ricky said that Karl is too wise now, so I suppose he'd feel it would be too contrived trying to make him say daft things, but I don't see the harm in trying. Maybe the three being apart so long wouldn't have quite the same chemistry.
Awesome! The video initially didn't show up in my sub box so I've turned notifications on.
Thanks bud! Your picture gave me a fun idea for an easter egg for future videos.
I like how his head is perfectly round.
2:11 never saw the manhole cover again
Great. But it needs the radio microphones added in otherwise it looks like a conversation around a dinner table.
Shout out from after work reactions, well done dude subbed
Thanks so much!
Beautiful
Thank you Harsh!
These are really good, I hope you get the attention you deserve and keep em coming 🍊🐵📰
Thanks so much, glad you enjoy them! Even if just a couple other people enjoy them that's great!
This is brilliant!
Thanks! Glad you like them!
You are revitalizing a brilliant series with these clips man, please keep going, the animation is brilliant and you're picking great clips.
Thanks so much, I don't know if the XFM shows will ever get stale for me so as long as I have the time I'll keep making them. Learning a lot as I go and it's so much fun to have other people enjoy them too :) Feel free to recommend any of your favourite clips (this one was actually from a recommendation after my last video).
these are dope, dude! keep up the good work
Thanks so much! I like your profile pic - I always thought of Karl, Ricky and Steve as the kind of real life versions of Ed, Edd n Eddy
thank you! you know, i'd never thought of it till now, but you're totally right! major parallels
mate, these are inredible. you are a genius. I havent heard these xfm conversations enough to remember them so this was so good!!
Haha thank you! There's just so much gold, I could probably spend 50 years animating it all. Started a new job so don't have a huge amount of time at the moment but gonna make good progress this weekend on a classic!
I'd love to put music and Foley over this ❤️
Love how accurate the student versions of Ricky and Steve were
Thanks bud!!
Cheers for making these! Good Work man
A pleasure, glad you liked them!
This is such a treat. Get a Kick-starter going or something bro this could be a job :)
Thanks so much! I'm enjoying doing this as a hobby for now but I may consider that for the future
@@MichaelLeightonsKarlyPilkboys kickstarter or patreon! Cmon mate!
@@FPVMike Haha I'll consider it!! If I'm able to get 5 out consistently then I may do
Never saw the manhole cover again 😂
Absolutely brilliant mate. This is just how I aways imagined it 👌
Thanks, glad you liked it!
This is superb. Well done. I've listened to the shows so many times, so it's nice to see them so lovingly animated. Best wishes. xx
Thanks so much, glad you liked it. Also Watership Down is one of my favourite childhood movies, great picture.
@@MichaelLeightonsKarlyPilkboys I was taken to see Watership Down at the cinema when I was about 6. I was never the same again.
Amazing work!!! Would love to see more! :)
Thanks so much! Have a few good ideas for future clips :)
Just to let you guys know. I saw a science video the other day and the manhole cover thing is real! Like a Karl's stories, he wasn't talking shit lol. The difference is they dug a hole and put the nuclear bomb in there. The manhole cover was covering the entrance shaft and it was shot in the air after detonation. Some nerd worked out how quickly it was going.
Yeah this is really good dude I’m enjoying them a lot. Keep working at it so good for the amount of time you’ve been doing animations
Thanks a lot, really fun seeing others enjoy it! Have a great day
Cheers for doing this 👍🏻
My pleasure!
Incredible!! Also - is the hairy kids face based on Joe Rogan?
Thank you SuperRand! Haha it isn't but I can see that. It is based on someone however, but I won't give away who just yet...
Josh sent me, I commented under ur original comment telling him to have a look, great content and can’t wait to see more from u here and on after work reactions, cheers innit 🍻
4 non blondes and the fly fishing he shoulda got as a gift instead of just paying for the cab 6 quid 😂
@@otda3675 I remember! I think I first commented on your comment and you told him to check them out, I really appreciate that! Looking forward to making more and hope you're having a great day :)
Found your channel from Josh's 'After work reaction' videos and i've subbed :)
I listen to the XFM+ podcasts regularly and these animations are top quality! "do your eyes see further than you?" hahaha these little touches are very appreciated.
Can i ask, what software do you use to animate? i've been thinking of learning to animate lately myself.
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it!!
I use OpenToonz, it's pretty cool! Free and works on Mac and Windows, although it is very prone to crashing and quite frustrating sometimes. I'll often have spent weeks on an animation and for some reason just can't export it.
But overall it's a pretty awesome program considering it's free, so definitely good to start with and see if you like it.
This is some good stuff!
Thank you, that's really nice to hear!
@@MichaelLeightonsKarlyPilkboys Please make more! These are fantastic!
@@JD-Media Thank you! I'm learning a new software and it's taking me some time, but I do intend to :) Really glad you like them!
Tinging it's way up the tube
i have a drum n bass track id like an animated video for. what do you reckon?
I appreciate the offer but I've just started a new job and doing these XFM clips takes pretty much all my free time at the moment. If I get a pocket of free time I'll get back to you :)
Where did you learn animation? Amazing
I downloaded a program called Opentoonz about 2 months ago. Been binge watching tutorial videos! Thanks!
@@MichaelLeightonsKarlyPilkboys thanks man, appreciate it. Great work
Have you seen a listner
Alright.
So there's this monkey right
folklore is metaphor and based on humans, but it's all real. to get you started, realize werewolves is about women
Great. But it needs the radio microphones added in otherwise it looks like a conversation around a dinner table.
Thanks bud! Could you elaborate on what you mean by radio microphones? I added some microphones but I guess they aren't ones used in radio? Cheers for watching!
