This is not a Tesla repair shop it Disney land for Tesla lovers or Electric cars in General I love this kind of technical video I wish Tesla would help them more like supplying them with hard to find parts like battery cells etc.
Great video! As a roadster owner from a state without a service center, it’s nice to see a company that has the knowledge and expertise to help should I need it.
Many thanks to Team Gruber, for their openness and sharing. Every PetrolHead being keen of electronic in other areas should be converted to a TeslaFan having seen this video.
Another great video! I can see traditional mechanics having to adapt to losing work over time as EV adoption increases unless they learn a lot more about the electronics involved. Either that or their mainstay of servicing ICE-based vehicles will be taken over by specialists like this salvaging and repairing at component (rather than modular) level. I personally find this an interesting future having a background in Electronic Engineering but also a mechanical interest - food for thought :)
@@OutofSpecMotoring Awesome! I am waiting to get into the EV Market - awaiting the Mod3 to depreciate or the Y or Truck to flood market with used ones. Would be great to have some 3rd party people talking about these cars in a non-sales fashion like you! Thanks subscribed.
Cool. This convinced me NOT to buy an old Roadster. I thought it might be a decent investment because I think they will appreciate and be collectible, but I'm not willing to go through this much conservation work.
This can be pretty risky as the pack can get too low. In which case then you'd need some way to manually charge back up the pack. Not an easy task without proper equipment as you saw in the video. Best practice is to pull the disconnect.
"converts electrical energy into mechanical energy" and hence the wheels turn. there of course is an enormous amount of friction caused by this and...ironically...a total lack of rolling resistance! perhaps a video on how to stop would be more warranted next time!
The configuration and shape is much different. About the only way to do it is at the cell level which is very time and labor intensive. In this video he somewhat alluded to replacing individual cells. Not a fun prospect but technically possible. Trying to configure new cells to the old configuration would quite a challenge.
These guys are recapping a total POD unit - this is like recapping your CRT to watch 4K. No one in their right mind would go about it like this. It's like I'm watching people from another planet trying to discover alien technology - and getting it all wrong.
@@andrepoon I'm basing it on Model 3's as well. I have friends who paid over $60K for it (not the advertised $35k), got into an accident, and took 3 months(!) to fix! Parts are so scarce and the car is so difficult to fix. Commodity product? Not quite.
@@RudyAmid Go ahead and crash a BMW / Merc... You reckon that will be repaired in 3 months and will be cheap?!! If your definition of a car is parts and repairability, I guess you don't classify McClaren's and Ferrari's as car... right?
@@andrepoon 2 weeks max to fix. What are you even talking about. Being a Tesla fan boy is fine but blind loyalty will never get them to fix their problems.
I love seeing all this history and the inner workings of the original Roadster. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing so much interesting information. You guys have been doing great research and saving Teslas and people's money!
Wow, part I and II were excellent!!! Please keep them coming.
Gruber Motor Company is a completely fascinating company!
Thank you for being so candid and generous.

To me this info is a reason to never buy an unserviceable Tesla.
cccetomacrogol unserviceable by the manufacturer, but 3rd market is keen to deal with it as Gruber demonstrates.

Fantastic video and incredible that no one has gone thumbs down on it!
Me too, there is much more behind the cars than the brand itself. Great engeneering.
Love all the harbor freight tools they are using :D
Love these Gruber videos. So very cool.
Can you do these videos for Model 3 and common problems??
We can.

Interesting how the capacitors on the transistors boards are in a T shape. :-)
Fantastic videos. Are there any companies in Europe that could provide similar services?
Thank you! I believe Gruber is starting to look into expanding to Europe
Thanks for this really interesting video.
Pity they dont put an easily removable and cleanable (by customer) air inlet filter for the PEM on them

What do you think happens with other old collectible cars? They gotta be serviced too. Wtf.
This was very informative ⚡⚡
Can a Roadster be shipped unconnected to power for 4-6 weeks without pulling the disconnect?

Has anyone been able to hack the unlimited supercharging found on only certain years and certain models?
is there a Part 1 ?
Yes the video right before this one.

Why not use newer tesla batteries in the older roadsters

I have a roadster in Norway win # sfzre2b12b3000803. Need help fixing it,
No wonder Elon Musk blasted his roadster into space.

Witness101, so just out curiosity, what should they be doing then?
Tesla cars are definitely toys. Not very practical when buy-in and repair costs are so expensive.
You're basing this on a video about a car that is over 10 years old. A model 3 is not a Toy. If it is, its a toy that obliterates BMWs and Mercs.
