I like the black without laminating. Not because of the air bubbles, it's just my preference of the natural wood without the shine. You did a great job for your first try!

Sublimation inks are transparent. So, the color would show up better on a light shade of wood. I like the black one too.
Cut your laminate first to the size of your board. Works so much better. Then no air pockets.

Silly question…Are these cutting boards decorative only or can they be used with food?
Just decorative
You could coat w food grade epoxy/acrylic for food use maybe.
