- It's a Greek Food tour! We spent a day eating all the Greek food in Paros, Greece! All the dishes we tried are mainly very traditional Greek food, and all foods you should try when in Greece.
At lunch we started with a whole bunch of Mezzes at at waterfront restaurant which included:
Tzatziki, a dip made of greek yogurt, garlic and cucumber.
Tirokafteri, a spicy dip made of feta cheese and chilli peppers pita bread (for the dips)
Greek salad, made of feta cheese, olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, onions and capers.
After taking a break we came out again to enjoy dinner in Paros. At this meal we tried:
Chicken souvlaki- chicken skewers with fried potatoes (french fries) and salad.
Moussaka- a traditional dish made with béchamel, potatoes, eggplant and meat.
Stuffed Eggplant- stuffed with more eggplant, cheese and tomato.

Paros in Greece is among the most popular islands of Cyclades. Located in the heart of the Aegean Sea, Paros island is ideal for young people, romantic couples and families, too. The Parian traditional villages, particularly Naoussa, Parikia and Lefkes, are perfect samples of Cycladic architecture, with whitewashed sugar houses, paved streets and blue-domed churches. The beaches are famous for the exotic water and the golden sand. The beaches on the south eastern side, such as Golden Beach and New Golden Beach, are particularly popular for windsurfing. A nice day trip from the island is the small island of Antiparos, with the crystal beaches and the relaxing atmosphere.
Parikía (Parikiá), the capital of Páros, is a beautiful Cycladic village with whitewashed cubic houses and impressive neoclassical mansions. A well preserved 13th century Venetian castle stands proudly on a hill at the centre of the village offering an amazing view of Parikía. In the capital you can also admire an important ecclesiastical monument, the 6th century church of Panayia Ekatontapyliani, also called Katapoliani. The name “Ekatontapylianí” means the church with 100 gates (“Ekató Pýles” in Greek), one of which is a secret one! Don’t miss the chance to visit the baptistery (4th century AD), one of the best preserved baptisteries in the Orthodox East, and the Byzantine Museum. The Parikía Byzantine Museum is housed on the ground floor of the church. Its exhibits include icons, wood-carved iconostases and other heirlooms from various monasteries and churches on the island.

Delightful Travellers Great videos, thank you. If you have the time, visit Hydra, it is not far from Athens you could do it on a daytrip. Enjoy!
graviera, kefalograviera, halloumi, kasseri, kefalotyri are the cheeses used in greece for the fried cheese you guys ate
ah.. so good to know. Thanks Effie! - Anna
Possibly halloumi since you said it was squeaky
Flamed with brandy that burns the outside crispy. Yum Opa!
I think talagani is used as well, sometimes lesser known local cheeses
I really like Greek dishes, When I was in Greece, I had Greek salad with all my meals
Oh us too. Greek salad all around. It's the best kind of salad! 😀- T
Like αν είσαι απο ελλαδα translate :like if you are from greece
The food looked amazing😱 I would love to go to Greece one day!
Jess Burt it’s worth going for the food alone Jess. Greece has so much going for it! What a terrific country 👌- Trevor
You are welcome my friend! I would recommend to go to Mykonos (one of the coolest, best Greek island) or Santorini (an other island) the traditional style really takes over there! But if you like to visit the cities I say come to my motherland Thessaloniki or in our capital Athens, these two cities are unique because you got busy city vibe together with that summer beach breeze, cause these cities are on the Seaside!
I also recommend to visit the Saint Dimitri Church here in Thessaloniki!
The top 3 things to do are: Have a fun day on the beach and take some selfies, try to make some friends as we are very friendly!
Have lunch at a traditional style restaurant
Explore the place!!
You will love it! You are going to have the time of your life! If you have family living there, don't waste money on hotels visit them! You will have much more fun if you spend the day with the ones that you love❤😘 and remember its not just the food that makes Greece magical it's the culture, the tradition and the value of family!
Great video, all looks very tasty. Greek food may not always look fancy, but the flavours are so good. I guess with quality local ingredients, just keep it simple is best.
MrShg31 the food was so tasty! The flavours in Greek food are like no other. Thx for watching! - Trevor
+1 who is from Greece
Επιτέλους κάποιοι που δεν δοκίμασαν φαγητο απο την Ελλάδα στην Αθηνα
As a Greek American 🇺🇸 I totally love your videos. I’m not going to correct your pronunciations, because I was raised on these dishes and they are definitely hard to pronounce. I’ll be traveling to Paros next summer for the first time. FYI when I’m in Greece, I order the saganaki everywhere. Also, I’m thinking one of the dips you had was probably tatamasalata .. it’s a caviar dip with cheese. 💗🇬🇷💗🇬🇷💗🇬🇷💗
Tatamasalata is killer. Taramosalata is made by fish eggs.
@@antimimoniakos It is one of my favorites!!
I really enjoy you when you eat papoutsakia, (shoes,) the stuffed egg plant,
that is the beauty of Greek food, the many smells, and the true flavours of fresh material, not frozen,
the aromata or mirodies as we say.
Very nice video guys met you through Endless Adventurers and subscribed ...Now food looks WOW
Yay! Welcome to the channel Effie. We look forward to having you around. 👍- Anna
Oh Lord.... that looks amazing... looks healthy as well as tasty!!
you shouldnt wait long before you eat "saganaki" (fried cheese), its consistency and texture gets bad as its cools down. You should also use lots of lemon on it.
💯
Saganaki pairs really well with lemon
Greek food is wonderful!
Not anyone I've seen on you tube has showed or talked about the afternoon nap ,it was done at time I visited is it even a practice or not ,you are great explorers ,food bloggers, and history teachers ,I love being along to see this place.,thanks to you ,the Mediterranean diet is explained, somewhat ,everyone is individual ,meat eaters or vegetarians,it's no different in Greece ,in the past eating meat was not a staple in every day diet ,cost, nor abundance.🍷to fun and health to you both. I would of love to see you pan out at the beautiful back ground at that beach , gourgeos visuals .
Wow, the food looks so fresh and good!
Musaka is patoto egg plant ground beef and pasamel pasamel is made with milk and butter and flour
This food looks so amazing! I am incredibly jealous! Thank you for sharing! :)
Arbitrary Exploration omg.. it was the best! It’s hard to beat Greek food right? - Anna
That food looks awesome!!
It was on point! Greek food may be our favourite now 😀- Trevor
Greece is amazing !! You should vizit also Macedonia and Thessaloniki, Meteora, Chalkidiki etc !!
It all looks so good! Especially the Moussaka!
I so agree! That was my favourite. So so good! And.. now I want Moussaka again 🤪 - Trevor
Mouzaka has the definition of the food that you can't compare with the others .
It's like the king of food
Especially if your mother or the grandmother😉 knows how to excel this dish.
@@panagiotistsakonas1491 or Pistachio
@@LeftUndone Might, if you are lover of pasta. But, mouzaka is mousaka for me.
It nice that you find another food that you liked in this level🙂
@@panagiotistsakonas1491 Best food ismade by greek mothers or grandmothers even if it is mousakas or else food.
My favorite is the grilled octopus 🐙!!
Maybe we'll try that one next time 😋
Yes
gorgeous place!! 😍😍😍
At 2.23..If it squeaks when you eat it, it´s probably haloumi cheese you are eating.
The only cheese i can think of that squeaks :-)
haha squeaky cheese is the best cheese 🙌 🧀 - Anna
my fav food ....yummy
mpourmpoulithra2011 I think it might be our favourite food now too! 😀 - Trevor
Great video ! I am ready to fly to Greece and try some of that wonderful food.
Do it Edward! We have a few more Greek videos ready for you too. Also, there will be another food video coming, but focused on Crete specifically! - Trevor

They sure looks delicious makes me hungry
Nice selection of food..
I think we did okay too with the selections. We can't eat all the dishes but I thought we covered some staples 👍- Trevor
Fasolada is our national dish!!! Try it next time !
This was in old days. Now sanos became our national food.
The fried cheese is called "saganaki" it goes with some drops of lemon if you like....
P.S. Take me with you when you go home. I loooooove Canada 🤣🤣🤣
greek cuisine is one of the most healthier in the world my friends!!
And one of the most delicious! :) - Trevor
Apart the fried section.
I am Cypriottt ✌✌✌
Welcome to our channel Eirini!
I am hungry 🙈😂😂❤️
Us too! 😳 hehe thanks for watching. - Anna
Oh my cheese heaven! Greek salad is our favorite salad. Would love to try it in Greece. Is the olive oil better in Greece compared to Canada?
omg yes. The olive oil is so much better in Greece - Anna
The best olive oíl of the World cames from a location south of peloponessous.. Named Kranidi. All greeks knows it.. My family is from there.. AAA+
Greek olive oil is unique and very very healthy.
ooooh, I can tell you guys are Canadians! Sun's going down and you're already so red! We have a strong sun in Greece so make sure to use sunscreen regularly!
The lighting doesn't help and our colour grading either haha. We wear lots of sunscreen trust us. We just had few days before filming this outside every single day - Trevor
Can you do a video on how much things cost in Greece?
I loved Greece when I visited but I sadly hate Myzithra cheese lol.
Me too and i am Greek. I prefer feta (made by goat and lamp milk) or white cheese made by cow milk. Also Kaseri (made by feta) and yellow cheese (made by cow milk) are great.
11:07 - Oh look! A squirrel!
Vegetarian Greece? Lamb and wine, they are wonderful.
it shocked us too! There were so many veggie options. Everything is wonderful indeed. - Trevor
On Thursday I will be in Canada. Do you have something typically Canadian on the menu, what do I have to try?
Poutine for lunch! Beaver Tails for dessert and a Caesar for a cocktail. Bonus points if you can find a Nova Scotia lobster roll or a Donair. 😀- Trevor
Thank you it will come in handy. Unfortunately, I will not be in Halifax. Canada is too big for 2 weeks of sightseeing. Canada is TERRA INCOGNITA for me. People from Europe also go to Canada for the holidays. Maybe you do something about your city, according to TripAdvisor, it is in fourth place Top Destinations on the Rise? Children learn about the Bay of Fundy in Geography lessons. That would be interesting.
Greeks very rarely eat lamp, only in Easter, pork and beef is the traditional main meats
*JAM JAM*
You guys are neat!
haha thanks
Binge watching your Greece trip while we plan our own! Question- which island would you recommend for hiking, views, sandy beaches and lots to do but fewer crowds and affordable prices? We are thinking to go to Crete. Thoughts?
Oh so cool! 😃 Naxos or Crete. Crete doesn't look like the rest of Greece (the blue and white) buildings - Trevor
Delightful Travellers thank u! Love u guys by the way! Keep up the great work. You definitely deserve more followers. I really like how you give great travel advice.
Best place is not idland but peninsula. Called Chalkidiki locates in northern Greece. Sea is warm sand in and out the sea and pine trees till the sand. Be careful Chalkidiki is witch you might fall in love with her and return every summer.
I live in and trust me guys most of them aren't so healthy 😂😂
The grilled cheese might have been Halloumi...?
It has a high melting point so can be grilled without slopping...
A "Greek Salad" in Greece is just "Salad", no...? :P
The food looked good, what about $$...? :/
Psychphuq No, saganaki or in Greek σαγανάκι is fried Κεφαλοτύρι or Headchease in English. Really tasty and really salty :P
We call Greek salad Horiatiki which means village salad.
Good point Phychphuq! Maybe it was Halloumi.. we didn't even think of that. Their Greek salads are called 'Greek Salad' though.. we do know that. Most places have options on different kinds. - Trevor
You are both very cute!
I think ordering musaka in a restaurant isnt a good idea. I've never eaten a very good musaka in a restaurant. You would only be able to taste a good musaka if a greek friend would cook it for you. (im greek)
We don't have Greek friends so restaurants it is! - Anna
I had an amazing Mousaka in Crete and a great Stiffado..and the street food in Santorini is great too..loved the Gyro's.
@@DelightfulTravellers Actually the mother of a Greek friend. You can't even imagine how many recipes there are and how great food can make.
Try Icelandic yogurt
Lettuce in a Greek salad is an American invention. No lettuce in "Greek salads" in Greece.
There's no lettuce in Greek Salads in Canada or America either FYI - Trevor
Oh yes there is. Fortunately you did not had one. Many others got conned thinking they were experiencing "Greek cuisine".
A. A Canadian from Saskatchewan we had as guest, was so so surprised the Greek salad in Greece had no lettuce, while the Greek salad in Saskatchewan had lettuce 😂😂.
B. Exact same thing with a friend from Orlando Florida.
Greek cuisine oversees has become very very.... Distorted.
In the same way, when we Greeks want to eat Houmous and see belly dancing we go to a Libanese restaurant. Over the Atlantic you can find such things in a "Greek Restaurant" 😂😂😂😂😂
💗💝💕💞💓💖😇💌
Saganaki not feta
Halloumi cheese....
I'm Greek the musaca look an appetite is not looking good atoll
Mou sak ka
Poor things tasting what actual non processed food and veg taste like !!!
Nik Man not sure where you are from but do you actually think there is no fresh / local food here in Canada? Ha - Trevor
İts like to turkish food.Why?
Greek was part of the Ottoman empire for hundreds of years. The two cultures are intertwined forever.
It's pronounced PAR-os----NOT Pair-os. And it's prnounced Moo-Sa-KAH, accent on the last syllable. NOT Moo-SA-Kah. Learn the pronunciations before you put out a vlog that shows your lack of what you're speaking about.
We're bound to get some pronunciations wrong Bob. Especially since we're not from the country. Hopefully you at least enjoyed the video. - Trevor
give them a break xaila
Bob, you sound like a horrible person. Loved the vid trev!
Pronunciation is cute. Sometimes i call it mouzaka as the tourists do.
