I had my annual checkup at my doctor a month before we went to Greece. After we spent a month in Greece and came back to the US, my doctor couldn't believe my bloodwork was so perfect. He praised me for finally taking control of my health. I swear thst i didnt do anything. This all happened because of the Mediterranean diet I was exposed to in Greece. Every delicious mesl was accompanied by a Greek salad. Every meal had fish. Multiple side dishes with eggplant, peppers etc. For desert we were served yogurt with honey or watermelon. The diet made all the difference
@Rizla I don't agree with you. Is the obesity epidemic in USA due to psychological issues in half of the population or is the longevity of the okinawans all due to their good psychological condition? What about the Greek island Crete? If anything, we Greeks should have a very low life expectancy due to the economical crisis that has affected nearly all of us. Sure, our lives ARE getting shorter due to the crisis but who can attribute that all to bad psychology and not changes in dietary patterns such as opting for cheaper fast food rather than more expensive healthier options?

These cold days in the north I long for Greece.. What I love the most is that whether you go to the mainland or one of the beautiful islands, it's always something new - a new local twist to the ever-so-great food. Not to forget the hole in the wall restaurant in Rhodes gave me the most wonderful gyro experience. But wherever you go, great people and great food.
I'm from Switzerland and truth to be told: most of the people here are cold to stangers, becuase it's strange to act different. I know they dont want to be mean, its just unusual to be not sceptical. We ate the most tasty fresh Gavros, drank smooth self brewed Raki, some incredible dishes too, talked to the familymembers, about life in crete and all sort of things, and I felt like part of them. This vlog reminded me of when i was 13 and i had made some friends on the beach. I could barely speak english or greek and they ofc werent that much better with their english. But we played everyday together and they showed me some cool places around their town and similar restaurants and street food shops. One of the other kids was the son of a chef in one of the restaurants and in the evenings he gifted us some free foods and sweets while we were sitting down there in the kitchen. The places you showed us strongly reminded me of back then

I watched this over 3 years ago (pre-covid) when I was researching for my holiday to Greece in 2020... that never happened! Currently in Athens and today we ate at diporto! It was amazing!!!
Can we have more tourists like you, pleaseeee? Can you make a tourist school to train them before they come here? Seriously, I haven't seen many tourists (and I work in tourism sector) being so respectful and excited at the same time. Also, you couldn't have chosen better restaurants/taverns for the center of Athens.
Mark does his homework and his goal is always to show a culture and it's food in the best light by being that way he also shows himself and family in their best light someone you like to know
I actually can't wait to go back to Greece after lockdown here in Australia. Greek people have go to be a very strong and prided culture of people. Direct and down to earth no bullshit aside. They tell you what they think, they are happy to help you, they are hospitable, they do not care who you are, you are always welcome. The children of most Greek people are mature and respectful of elderly people, help their neighbors like no tomorrow. The Greeks are also very intelligent, I mean the foundations of mathematics and science comes from there. They are all about family and helping each other. Thats why even though they had an economic crisis, they survive, because they know how! I love the Greeks they are by far my favourite people and I have visited over 80 countries.
Come you will feel like home here. You will be home actually , people will regard you as a friend and not a tourist and a bag of money. All you need is a genuine smile , that is all.

Even though I haven't got a chance to travel the world food, but you already brought me to many amazing places, Mark! You are a hero of your beloved family💐
I’ve been seeking ‘the food of my people’ for many years now and I read online today about the delicious food in Greece. This is my first search and I am blown away. How marvelous.
Wow, they were working on the acropolis in 2010 when I was there, too. Love the food in Greece - the best food I had in Europe (also Spain). It's one of my most favourite places on earth. Huge part of my heart is still in Greece. I can't wait to go back. Maybe next year!
Yep! They are working at one side at a time so the place can still be visited. They are working slowly as this is a very sensitive project. Projection for completion is 2020 I think..
you need a good diet first🤣 .... then in Greece be sure you 'll take back double kg haha... it's so hard to choose between our dishes and sweets as well.... good luck and wish you be back in Greece soon 😊
I saw an interview with the lead archeologist, and she estimated the reconstruction will take more than 20 years from the time of filming the reportage.. It was something with the stones only fitting to a single spot because they are all a few milimeters rounded so they appear straight from afar making it a huge puzzle.. Hope ill be alive to visit it fully reconstructed!
Restoration started at the 70s and will keep on till 2025 or 2030. It is unavoidable as work is extremely sensitive while making accurate lost parts is like matching a 3 d puzzle
Not unlike most of you MW video fans I’m insatiable. Micah’s facial expressions and reactions are priceless. I loved the way he just pounced on that loaf of bread. The family that eats together...
I usually never watch vlogs like this , for some reason your video popped up. Didn't regret watching 24 mins , you're such a happy dude having such a positive attitude. Wish you all the best man , greetings from greece !
Truly humbling to see someone who is so happy about food, sharing experiences with new people and just traveling with his family. I enjoy watching your videos 👍
This is the video that i am waiting for! The famous acropolis! You can visit more historical sites in Athens like Hadrian arch and the temple of olympian zeus. If you still like the Olympic history, do visit an ancient site in Olympia where the torch lighting ceremony is carried out using the traditional sun method.
Yong De Tan I have been to the ceremony multiple times; it's awesome to see. Also they often ask school students to carry the torch as well (for a small distance)..very cool.
Hi Mark. my name is John, i am Greek i reside close to the seaside, in a town called Glyfada, near the "vlaxika" taverns where you went to have the tasty lamp chops in another episode. So, about the souvlaki : it is a sooo underestimated food, it is considrered as "junk" food by many not to say most greeks, can you imagine? the tastier dish, the corner stione of our kitchen, and is considered as ..unhealthy! . I, as greek, and as a personal trainer who takes care of a balanced and organic diet i tell you, it can be a very very nutricional and complete dish if tyou cook it with less fatty olive olis, and a whole grain pita!!
Thanks for sharing Mark. I with to Greece on my honeymoon.Athens was just one of stops and it was beautiful. Thanks for taking me back. I love Greece 🇬🇷
Mark your videos helped my wife and I a lot with picking where and what to eat while we were in Athens on our honeymoon! I hope the situation with covid improves soon so we can have more travels!!
I’m currently living in Athens for over two years, each summer I travel to the islands..it’s paradise. The food the culture the history. Hope you and your family will come back, lots has changed since then. Watching this was nice but you should have had someone that truly showed you life changing experiences.

I grew up in Vouliagmeni, south of Athens
Thank you for visiting Greece, hope you revisit some day soon!
The places you showed us strongly reminded me of back then
Wow, all of a sudden I want Greek food at 2:00am
@sam sam lmao
Greece food and culture it is similar to lebanese one
Big salut from lebanon to greece
The world Derham88 Allan mashalan habibi your welcome to younana any time ....your country was the most welcoming I felt I was home in Greece
Muslim and Christian Lebanese, we all consider them brothers!
Absolutely!
Ha You wish
I m Greek and i love Greek couzine but i hv to accept the superiority of the traditional lebanese food!!!
When you travel around the world you become very humble person. Great fan from Nairobi.
So tru you just learn to adapt to everyone’s culture and spread love and peace ♥️
My neighbor just came back from Spain and he talks like he is a seasoned world traveler already.
Omg I love my country so much, I feel so blessed that I'm Greek. I'm glad you tried traditional Greek food, you tried dishes that we actually eat daily! I love that you are so informed and appreciative of everything. God bless your beautiful family, this video made me smile!

anastasia profitou Anastasia I am about to visit your country and I am super excited! I have a question for you: how much I can get away with English? I didn’t get to learn Greek , I don’t think I will have enough time tho.
@@matheka2011 You'll most likely get away with english. Sure we have an accent but they understand english so no worries. 👌
Der Alex thank you so much!! I’m counting down!

Dirtboxhor the market ladies in Kenya have Micah free fruits...lol... everyone loves Micah!
I have always wanted to go to Greece! The people seem so friendly and the history is so rich.
Cara Rexroad You should definitely come here its beautiful!
Come you will feel like home here. You will be home actually , people will regard you as a friend and not a tourist and a bag of money. All you need is a genuine smile , that is all.
the most friendly people in greece and in italy!!!!!!
@greg oscar Well , you're not different , so your comment is pointless .
@greg oscar you are just a pathetic kiddo

Its so sweet how Mark carefully holds Micah while he's eating and explaining about the food all at the same time.

Very nice video showing food delicacies in Athens,Greece. The presentation is good and creates interest in Greek food.
They are working on the Acropolis since the 70's or something... I don't think they will ever stop... haha
you need a good diet first🤣 .... then in Greece be sure you 'll take back double kg haha... it's so hard to choose between our dishes and sweets as well.... good luck and wish you be back in Greece soon 😊
I know I've learned my lessons to sit with my food while watching Mark's video 🍝🍛

Greaaaatttt, cheers from Brasil 🇧🇷

Get out
Mark your videos helped my wife and I a lot with picking where and what to eat while we were in Athens on our honeymoon!
