    Been using these for ages now and can't break one, best for cabinet makers in my opinion. Thanks for the video!

    I like tape measures that are also scaled on the back face. Surprising how often that is useful.
    The imperial frame size would be a deal-breaker for me.

    Thank you for the review. The dual numbering on the tape so measurements can be easily read from left or right is excellent. I like the notepad and inbuilt sharpener too and would certainly use it. I did have a chuckle seeing that they have saved costs using the same imperial tape body for the metric version. Cheers 👍😎🇦🇺

    Dear Sir, enjoyed your review of fast cap tape measure. Forgive my imposition, would you know of a laser tape measure specifically designed for violin maintenance? I need a quick working accurate tape measure for reading distance from top edge of bridge to edge of nut on my violin. The distance changes very often as the violin gets tuned, the bridge to nut ratio changes because of string tension. Im hoping a laser would read more accurately and be simpler to use. Thank you for demonstrating this on an actual 4/4 size violin if your able. The distance would be in millimeters. 328mm is the working length that must be maintained for optimal tone. Am wondering which laser tape measure would be best suited for such application? Thanks for any help. C.e. usa.😅

      @user-do5hd7zb4x hi, I’ve never made a violin myself, but if you have to make repeated measurements of precise length, I would recommend using a story stick. In your case, as the measurements have to be so precise you might want to make your story stick out of something like brass.
      As for laser measures, there are many good ones in the market, I have one made by Bosch that is very good.

    I like mine, however my first started twisting, making it difficult to pull a measurement from the end of any material. I now have a second and it seems to be starting to do the same thing.

      Hi Dave. That's a concern. It will be interesting to see if mine does the same thing.

    What about the rules in the center of the tape?

    • @DarrensWorkshop
      @DarrensWorkshop  Год назад

      In the centre there are marking every 16 inches. Not sure why 16.

      @@DarrensWorkshop studs are placed 16” on center in the states. Makes sense when you think about the fact that the tape measure’s total length is listed in feet and width in inches.

      @@handsomegames1433 cheers. Houses here are mostly built with double brick (internal and external walls), so we don’t use studs (or inches) so it’s not something I would have guessed.

    Is it flat or concave

    Let me answer that with a resounding NOPE. Descent products, but quality is questionable. After 2 months and maybe 2 uses of a BRAND NEW tape the locking mechanism broke. Customer service refused to provide support because I didn’t purchase off their own website. Ridiculous. Would never purchase a product from them again.

    Tajima. Unless you like writing all your measurements on your tape measure with the built in pencil sharpener. I like to hold the tape measure in place as I write. Too many gimicks. They have found a market as "accurate woodworker tape measure alternative" to the usual tool brand tape measures, but not really. People take for granted that a tape measure is accurate no matter what. They are printed to rounded increments, they rely on proper calibration, they come up short across distances. Do your homework if accuracy is important.
