Yeah, I don't know if you've watched the older videos, but it used to get a lot worse than that. Even physical sometimes. And it was a bit painful to watch 😁 But great of course.
1:05 Janek, you literally made this exchange place iconic. When I think of a place in Prague where I can get Czech crowns, I think of this exact spot immediately. They should be grateful for your job - of course they gained our trust with perfect exchange rates, but thanks to YOU tourists from all over the world know this exchange place, and I think it's beautiful
I went through a similar situation of getting a bad rate but I knew about the 3h law and got may money back thanks to the honest guides. Cheers for that.
I really admire your courage in going after the scammers. They exist in every country and culture. Is your background in journalism? You strike me as a terrific investigative journalist. Well done and thank you!
I've just been to prague, and used some of your tips. Thank you for honest exchange rates and a tram ride (the tourist line no 42) using the points. I love you city and your channel!
I believe the best and easiest rule is to only exchange in places where the "we sell" and "we buy" are close together, that means that they do not have high rates in any direction of exchange! Love the videos, keep it up!
Last week I was in Budapest and was trying to search - 'Honest Guide in Budapest'. I am sure no other city in whole world has another honest guides. Hats off
Took my family to Prague in January 2020 and used all your videos to exchange money, get from the airport to the Old Town Square, and the best places to see. Thanks for the great information. Looking forward to another trip to beautiful Prague.
Should be arriving in two days, thank you SO MUCH for this. One of your safe exchanges is a scant 230m walk from our lodgings, so mapped and sent to phone.
I have the same problem all the time, but not in Czech Republic, but in Poland. I'm traveling a lot between Poland and Iceland (i have two citizenships), and because icelandic króna are very obscure, and no every exchange has that, it is really hard to get a good rate. Be honest with yourself and just pay with cards my friends. Use exchange only if you are in emergency. And still, look up for the prices, and laws about minimal rate in each country. Love you guys ❤
Hi Janek and Honza! I want to thank you guys for doing what you do, a big help for us travelers who aim to visit your beautiful country. We will be there this coming March 28 for a week to celebrate my 60th birthday. We hope to have fun and safe stay there…of course with your help from watching your informative videos. Good Luck!
Hey guys, just to let you know that we really had so much Fun in Prague. I celebrated my birthday at Zvonice, restaurant at Jindrisska Tower. Precious moments! Thanks for introducing the tower in your vlog!
Yoooo this is amazing. Been in Prague a couple of times a few years back. Thank you for making things so clear for tourists and of course for you and your crew as citizens of Prague. Honest guide indeed. I also remember that case with that big time scammer. Good job that you managed to kick him out. Kudos for that. Greetings from Cyprus and see you soon :)
I just found out your channel. Excellent information. Thank you sooooo much! My husband and I are coming next August in Czechia for a two weeks round tour. I look forward to it. I know tourist can be scammed (I am Italian. Need to say no more, I guess). So I hope we will have a wonderful experience in your wonderful country
Janek, having visited the Czech Republic many times, I just love your videos. You're right that a visitor should use a card as much as possible, but they should use one that doesn't charge foreign exchange fees. Otherwise they'll have a nasty surprise when they get their next bill. Also if they need cash, use a bank ATM for the best (interbank) rate.
almost two years ago i visited CZ for the first time, went to Budweis to the Indian Riders Fest. I will be visiting it again this june, these videos helped me to cash out money while i was there, thanks !
When I first flew to Prague, I knew where to change the currency, but I needed several tens of crowns to buy a bus ticket to the center of Prague. I went to the exchanger and asked to change 5 euros. The woman, with surprise on her face, said that for life in Prague 5 euros is very little, for one day you need 50 euros (housing, food, shopping), to which I just smiled. Thanks guys
I’m currently in Prague (leaving today), and my short experience is that was cheapest to pay by card, but in one of the places you recommended “Grand Cafe Orient” (which was brilliant) only take cash. The problem is on the other side of the street there’s a “0% commission” exchange, which for £1 gave 19.50, other scammers were giving 19.20, and “good exchanges” were giving around 25 for £1, but I found out that 2 min away there’s KB bank which was giving 26.35 (by paying card I had 26.40), so pretty good deal, close to the rate when paying card. Maybe you could do an episode that shows the best bank alternative to currency exchange shops?
when I first landed at PRG airport I did what you suggested before, bought something from BILA at the airport and the cashier returened my EUR with CZK :) the best rate possible!
And the good thing is that any BILA in Czech Republic will accept euros, so it’s not just at the airport! (McDonald’s,KFC and other international chains also accept euros)
My girlfriend (who's originally from Czechia) and I are coming to visit next month! My first time going and can't wait!!! Been binge watching your videos 😁
Thank you for your videos. Was in Prague with my girlfriend at the weekend and visited the exchange office, really super serious, the others were outrageous when it came to the exchange rates
Im really learning alot from this video so basically when I go to Prague I will just use my card or exchange my euros to exchange trusted place. Thank you Janek for helping people you guys in the Honest review team is amazing 🎉
The thing that freaks me out is that the good exchange offices and the bad ones look so similar. I'm glad you have that map of the good ones, it takes the guessing out of it
Back in 2018 i go to Prague and thanks to your video i know exactly where to exchange my money👍👍..keep up the great works guys and we'll meet again when this all corona things go away
Thank you soooo much! I love this channel so much! I've saved so much time and money (and nerves). Especially with the tips in your older videos! Sooo worth it! From the tip on airport transfer via public transport to honest exchange places to good restaurants and bars!!!! Just checked out the Grand Café Orient you recommended! Amazing. Also the restaurant within the airport! Also very decent! Please keep doing what you are doing!
I am your subscriber and thanks to your videos, I will be in Prague for the 2nd time this coming weekend. I was ripped off when I exchanged cash at the main train station the last time.
Last year when I got off my cruise I had a heap of US money that i luckily won at the casino and I tried to cash it in ! It was in Sydney right on the Circular Quay and I almost got ripped off massively!! The monetary value of what I had should have worked out at about $2300AUD and they offered me $1600AUD !!!!! When I said that was unacceptable and I wanted my money back the girl got angry a little bit, I said no way that’s a rip-off give me my money back and she did everything to not give me my money back and she wouldn’t put it back into the slot and got very angry at me because I wouldn’t except her price after A bit of arguing she finally put my money back into the slot and I grabbed it out and counted it all and it was still there and she was basically telling me to F off she was so fukn angry at me Like I did something wrong. She was sitting there on her phone when I got there so she wasn’t busy but after this I don’t even bother with these exchange places anymore I just keep all the currencies I have and I go to my bank where they actually give me the full price of its value👌🏻😁
I am so lucky I came up searching for tredlnik in RUclips and found your chanel here cause I will be revisiting chezh republic in 3 months and your videos are so much heplful and they're going to show me what can I do the next time I am there.
I visited it yesterday and i thing i saw the map already when i googled it, you are so amazing! The thing was, i overrated cash so much, i really did not need cash. In Germany you pay almost everywhere with cash and in prague they all accept credit card. So do not visit prague without an credit card 😂😂 I also explored a really amazing restaurant and i do not know if you already mentioned it in one of your videos, but this place is called 'Jelica'. They serve Balcan Food and i can recommend that restaurant ^^
There's even easier way to change the euros in Prague by going to Albert or Billa supermarket ;) They always have good rates. Main conditions: to actually buy something (change will be given in CZK), provide only one bill and it shouldbe less than 200 EUR.
@@mateuszzimon8216 No, you can't. The ATM still detects your primary currency and offers DCC. If you accept DCC, the ATM will do the conversion despite you having an account in the ATM's currency or a great exchange rate. I always use Revolut abroad and DCC is still something to watch for, as well as being offered ridiculous sums to withdraw.
Many thanks man, I assume a lot of not honest “businessmen” in Prague really hate you. Keep doing your mission and let me know if you’re running tours for groups and couples, and what’s the pricing, how to contact you, if I’m in Prague one day with my family.
