- Whenever Maggie Mundwiller is around holiday decorations for about five minutes, she breaks out in an itchy rash and worse. Many are taking to social media to document their problems with Christmas trees. Allergist Dr. Zachary Rubin says “It's estimated that maybe as high as about seven to ten percent of people who are around Christmas trees, whether they're real or fake, will have increased allergy or asthma symptoms.”
I have this! I always got rashes atound Christmas from real trees...never fake ones. I thought I was allergic to pine trees until I lived in the forest for 17 years without problems.
You lived in the forest that long? How?

@@dannschmit8604 It's called camping. She just did it for a rather long time and probably in a cabin or something. Quite impressive if you ask me, the longest I have gone camping for is like 8 or 9 days.

I get rashes from the trees too, it's from the needles scratching my extremely sensitive skin while I'm hanging the lights or putting the ornaments on. It even happens with the fake tree. That's why I just leave everything on the tree and just wrap it up and throw it in a closet. That way I don't have to actually mess with it when I put it back up...
You should put the tree on wheels . That's what my friends mother does every Christmas. 🙃

A leaf blower outside works better to knock the dust before putting your tree up. Also, the little reservoir that the tree slides into doubles as a container to hold water for your real trees. So they don't dry out too fast.
If I get poked by the needles of a real tree, I'll get a bunch of small, itchy hives 🤷♀️

Omg I had this, my arms were so swollen from touching the tree.
I'll wipe each individual needle with soap and water using q-tips. It takes about 100 hours but it works.

@@charliedallachie3539 Yeah. My tree is pre-lit with lights but I still have to put the ornaments on. It's so much easier to put up and take back down. Which is always a plus! Merry Christmas! 🎄

When I was a kid, my asthma would be trigged by those cinnamon trees and cinnamon bulb things that get put out during the holidays. It sucked

If you have an artificial tree, wipe down each branch before hanging decorations on it. Then wipe it again before putting it away in the box for next year.
Its not strange its so common in my family weve had the artificial trees since i was 3yrs old its way more common then ppl think we got a cute artificial tree last year it looks like a snowman ⛄️ and only ran us $20 it was a steal & I luv it :) 😊 We vacuum our fake tree in case of dust as eczema runs in our family.

Even though I don’t get a rash, I have severe allergic reactions around anything pine. I can’t have pine nuts cause they make my throat itch like crazy (turns out, when it comes to making pesto, pecans make a good substitute for pine nuts). Throughout my early childhood, my mom always wondered why she and I always got so “sick” right around Christmas. She only realized it was allergies when I had a sudden allergic reaction at the Christmas tree farm. Allergy shots pretty much fixed that problem though.
WELL CHRISTMAS TREES DO HAVE PINE NEEDLES IN THEM!
That’s why I would NEVER get a real tree. A fake one is totally worth it and I don’t care what anyone says.

Im allergic to buying gifts and Christmas lights make me dizzy! As a child i was chased by a dunk Santa with 1 tooth he had a midget friend bald with a big nose and a scary giggle he would look in my windows at night while i sleep. They would rob the neighbor hoods. I was told the both wotked for a traveling circus but escaped captivity and were terrorizing people on Christmas Holidays! The had a ugly mule thry would ride on with glued on antlers!
