    On your X and Y ball nut mounts two of the six holes are through drilled and have a m6 tapped hole on the backside. I'm sure there's something clever going on here regarding these two holes but it's eluding me. Depth stop for the second ball nut bolts?? And thank you for all the work you've put into this.

      Hi. I'm glad my models are being put to good use - If you purchased a PM Machine, don't be afraid to let Matt know my plans became part of your plans for the machine. You are spot on regarding the M6 threaded holes - I was thinking that I'd use that as a locking screw for the long screws that would hold the second ball nut. I ended up simply using shims on my machine but I do think the original method I had in mind could also work well.

    Great job! Downloaded the Fusion file awhile ago. Good info on the couplings as well. Already bought Lovejoy but may consider these in the future. Thanks for all your help. Going to post a vid series on my build and will link your channel in if you don’t mind, since you were such a great help.

      I don't mind at all. I'm happy I could help and I can't wait to see your machine.

    Thanks, was looking at your motor speed upgrade last night.

    Hi, found your channel recently. Really love your work. I was wondering, you are not using the spindle speed upgrade you made. Is it because you changed the motor? Did the spindle speed upgrade caused to many vibrations? Cheers

    From the fusion 360 appearances it looks like you were intending on making PM25mv-04-04, 03-03 and 05-07 out of steel. I assume you though aluminum would not be strong enough? Did you use steel? If so was it mild steel or something more?

    Thanks for sharing. Real thoughtful and nice. I never opened a iges file before, but a couple minutes duckduckgo'ing it seems to show that I do not need autodesk to open them. I have and depend on a working machine shop for my survival, and so, no chance I will use autodesk products in my shop. The PM25-MV seems to have a reasonable table travel for a first cnc, but machine is awful light. It does appear to be a reasonable size first cnc machine for a small company though. As long as I can open those files, it is very likely I will get a PM25_MV, the recommend ballscrews etc that you show, and then build this. I have wanted a small cnc mill for a while, but not willing to buy because of exceptional high repair, maintenance costs to have company person come out and service. Building own is the only way to go for a small company,.. unless money is no object. Again, thanks for sharing.

    Hi I am considering buying the PM25MV mainly because of your videos. I want to convert it to a CNC and have some CNC experience as a hobbyist but d I have no experience operating a mill manually. So machining my own parts manually is definitely out of the question. I saw someone suggest 3d printing the parts, then milling them in aluminum after the cnc was working. This I could do in a heart beat but even if that would work I really don't want to have to deal with the mount in the z column twice. Do you know anyone who will make and selling parts from your designs?

    I’m just wondering how is the pm25 by itself as a manual machine? What upgrades would you do to make it a better bench top mill without the cnc conversion?

    • @FrancoCNC
      @FrancoCNC  5 лет назад

      It's a good manual mill. The first thing I'd probably do would be install a Digital Readout

    You have done an amazing job with your projects. I’m currently converting a G0704 and I’d like to use closed loop steppers with acorn. Would you be willing to help me with the wiring schematics?

      Check out my other videos - I think you'll find I cover some of that. There is also an excellent forum for the Acorn. Have you been there? That's probably the best place to get that kind of help/support. But, I try to answer questions here as I have time.

    I have found that all the bearing supports from China use standard roller bearings, and not Angular contact bearings. I had to purchase replacement angular contact bearings from a U.S. supplier. Has this been your experience? From the video, it looks like you are showing standard bearings because AC bearings are not usually sealed.

      Hi. I used whatever the seller gave me. I'm not sure if they are AC bearings but they seem to be working pretty well.
