The grandparents should have told the parents they would gladly pay the $120K, but the OP will get all the inheritance through an irrevocable trust. That should have fixed them.
Not only that, the grandparents got their calculations wrong. They forgot to add in the amount they spent to raise their child. I bet that would've settled them down.
All they had to do was pay for another plane ticket and/or ask to borrow some money so the sister can go with her. If they actually gave AF about the 2nd daughter that would be the first thing that came to mind for me. I wouldn't want my 18 yr old daughter going to Rome by herself. It was so simple of a solution. If the parents didn't think of if the sister should have. Because the only thing that would have happened at the airport is she would have been turned around and not able to board the plane. The the trip really would have been wasted.
