They also had to deal with legal b.s from Bethesda. The game was initially called Prey for the Gods but Bethesda threatened them that it was infringing on their title Prey. Thus they changed the name to what you see now, Praey for the Gods.
One thing that I really liked about SotC is that there were no minor enemies. The game didn't need them. And the difficulty was built in already by having stam boosts available of you wanted them in the form of tracking down lizards a d eating their tails. But you didn't necessarily need them to beat the game
7th Colossus in Praey of the Gods is my favorite, like I wish all the Colossi were lime him. It was the best fight so far in the game, and I believe that it is the only one worthy of being on the Original Shadow of The Colossus if in a parallel universe they were to make a cross-over.
Nice review. I'll probably get this and go for the Story setting as I have very little interest in survival mechanics. Shame that the combat with lesser enemies isn't as polished as with the bosses, I was looking forward to it.
@@wolfeye3530 Or perhaps like a couple sentences about why you feel like something was a "misrepresentation". That word has meaning which could be expanded upon.
Wow the last time I heard about this Game is was still called "Prey for the gods" That has been some while ago and it still is not released until now. Thought it came out years ago
I might buy it just for fun. Love an open world game that's Zelda inspired. IDC what people say if it's a clone or not. As long as it plays well and has a good story I'm happy. :)
Its odd to me they would take so much inspiration from BOTW and keep the system that almost everyone unanimously had issues with; durability. Repair systems don't fix the issue, and really many people dont get any value out of durability systems implemented like this. its a shame cause the game seems really good
It's actually worse, because you fly through weapons in BotW, and people didn't like the FEEL of that, but you always had so many weapons that you'd never be defenseless, plus creative use of the slate powers on top of that. Here, you have just a few and if they break, you're effed.
My thoughts are...it's awesome. I haven't purchased it yet because I'm waiting for the retail release. I don't buy games digitally. However I've been lucky enough to play it through share play with friends & I'm amazed at just how big the map really is. You can easily spend around 30 hours exploring the map & still not encounter every boss. There is lots of items to find & puzzles to solve if you take the time to do so. I'm sure the game gets Fumito Ueda's approval. I know it gets mine.
SPOILER ALERT AND SUBJECTIVE OPINIONS INCOMING Crogon is Avion 2.0, and Dreki is definitely inspired by Phalanx, big time. My biggest gripe with this game is that most of the Gods' battles are done on cooped-up arena environments, as opposed to the balance between arena and semi-open world areas seen in SotC. AND WE NEED MORE GODS TO FIGHT AGAINST. Game feels so damn short with only 8 Gods to take down. It's a superb game, and a superb tribute to Shadow of the Colossus, which, according to my mum's subjective counting, I played for around 50ish hours on my childhood. Can totally fit in a score or many of Shadow of the Colossus' to this game.
No offence, but I think you missed the point on the crafting system and combat. Also, the incentive to upgrade is to make those weapons and survival more effective
@@wolfeye3530 Well my answer would be to have fun. So if that's your point it seems like Cass didn't find these elements to be fun OR well implemented so your point is kinda moot
It needed a better budget from a bigger company fo make this happens, many aspects of the basics of 3d games phisics are just not very polished, things like walking, using a sword, bow etc fells clanky clumsy and weird, it's a very small production that took it to seriously the ideal of getting a project that would be a David vs Goliath style, the production of this game in the setting was way to big for then sadly, because the boss fights and the art designs are wonderful 👍
No it's correct. They had to change the name due to Bethesdas threat. Initially the game was called Prey to the Gods but they had to change it as Bethesda claimed it was infringement on the game they published Prey.
People love to call certain characters dumb without logically looking at who the characters are. It doesn't matter what the twins have seen. The fact is they are young an inexperienced, and just because you think they should be more experienced than they are doesn't mean anything.
Kinda a crazy review. This game was out before zelda breath of gods. Hence zelda copied it. Furthermore, Bethesda tried during this company as name was prey of the gods. Again out first, but they released Prey and wanted to sue for similar name. But rest review ok.
um no this game literally came out 2 years after prey and zelda breath of the wild.... please at least look at release dates before saying stuff like that. This game came out in 2019 while zelda and prey came out in 2017
@@sagepirotess6312 It still wasn't "out" then was it. Pretty sure Zelda didn't copy this game as Zelda is nothing like SotC which this is CLEARLY lifting a lot from

Yep, absurd. Similar even more absurd bullshit going on with Take Two publisher over the game It Takes Two! wtf

I think they misrepresented that aspect in this review.
