- ‘The Acolyte’ Episode 8 Recap And Review: A Terrible Season Finale Despite Cliffhangers And ‘Star Wars’ Cameos - The Acolyte was a mess from start to finish and Tuesday night’s jumbled season finale only strengthens my belief that this was a show that needed about three more drafts before going to production.
Everything about this show is rough and messy, and the two very fun cameos in the finale (which we’ll discuss below) can’t save it from itself. Spoilers, naturally. I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised that Osha goes to the Dark Side this episode, and that Mae-by dint of losing her memory-goes over to the good guys. After all, Osha was wearing black by this point and Mae was all in white. How subtle! Then again, it’s hard to tell who the good guys are anymore, or who the bad guys are, because The Acolyte is just so angsty and edgy. It’s Star Wars for adults! Or something. Let’s be real, subverting expectations and deconstructing the Jedi is just so 2017. The Acolyte seems hellbent on portraying the Jedi in the worst possible light and I might be able to accept this if it were just the coverup at the end when Vernestra somewhat bizarrely pins all the killings on Sol when she goes before the Senate tribunal. But this show wants very badly for us to think that what the Jedi did on Brendok is some horrific crime, when I’m right there with Sol: He was trying to protect children from what very much appeared to be a terrifying Dark Side witch cult.
I don't understand how they couldn't let Sol live through this season. So now all four of them have kicked the bucket. Very lame. The actor who played Sol made the show watchable.
Still better than turning him to the dark side... I was praying for that not to happen. Still miss Sol ofc

@@starkillerab1582 Aniseya was a fucking psychopath, she got into Torbin's head when she almost killed him, the death threats were rude, the Jedi told her they were investigating his cult, if they didn't attack them there wouldn't be a problem, she became a ghost to attack him and he defended himself. Also, unlike Mae and her murderous tantrum, he lived with remorse and learned from that, Osha and Mae did not.

That's just calling for drama! Look how being separated has ruined these girl's life. It's a MISERABLE way to live and the witches should have considered that they would be separated at one point- and did any of these dumbass witches ever bother to think, "Hey, if these girls get separated, that would be terrible for all of us." I think Mother Aniseya and Koril were selfish and immature af, they mocked life- they think they can make whatever they want without any complications? I feel like they killed others to create life. I think Sol was justified in his actions to kill Aniseya, and I also think he was justified in only saving Osha. And even though lying to Osha about their mother may not have been a smart move in the long run, the poor dude should not have died because of it- he literally suffered his ENTIRE LIFE from his own actions already. These witches killed him and all the other Jedi. At least metaphorically.
Even though this series was horrendous I hope the actor for Sol gets more roles in future shows/movies. He learned english for this abomination
Oh, don't worry about him. He is Lee Jung-jae, and he is a top star in Korea. Getting more roles is the least of his problems

You can't just bleed a kyber crystal that easily. In the comics, darth vader struggled to bleed his crystal. So i dont get why its done so easily here

@DubeIncorperated she did the bleeding process through the hilt. If I'm correct you have to have the crystal out for it to be done and even then it's super hard. So even if it being cracked had something to do with it. I don't think she could bleed it through the hilt

@@genericstarwarsfan9190 it wasn't through the hilt. Check the scene again. Her skin was touching the crystal. It started bleeding before Sol even died. At 4:16 the crystal is already bleeding while her skin is touching it.

Poor Master Sol… he ended up killing the mother in fear that she was gonna do something bad to Mae and had every right. Then his own friend put the blame of EVERYTHING on him.
How was that woman even a Jedi? Sol was flawed, but he was still more of a Jedi than she’ll ever be. He made a mistake, but it was an accident, I mean he was just human. Even a Jedi isn’t immune from this.

@@XDethX He didn't do it out of cruelty or hatred like Mae did. The situation in the temple got out of control, but he never wanted that to happen because the witches were frankly hostile. He never felt proud of killing people like Mae did. There's a huge difference.

I love how Osha can bleed a kyber crystal in two seconds because she's "angry" while Anakin Skywalker, the most powerful Jedi ever and a guy who LITERALLY MURDERED CHILDREN and loathed Obi-Wan, doesn't automatically do the same to his crystal.

Anakin didn't think he was doing anything wrong, though. He felt bad about having to do it, but he was convinced that taking down the Jedi was a necessary sacrifice. He didn't really start cracking until Obi-Wan showed up. Osha, however, flat-out murdered Sol in a moment of extreme anger. She wasn't making any sacrifices, she just wanted to kill him because he pissed her off. That's pure evil so straight to the red crystal she goes.

The person who tried to have his wife assassinated countless times? He HATED them and was more than eager to kill every last person on Mustafar. Osha's saber changing colors was done solely because "rule of cool" and not because any actual thought went into it.

I always imagined the bleeding of a kyber crystal to be a more f***ed up meditation, where one holds the crystal in their hands, putting all their hate and anger into it. This lightsaber color change is ridiculous.

I hope the Sol lightsaber replica made from Saber has a change color mode where you can change from blue to red. But its very expensive as they are duel worthy plastic

Noone says that Jedi are "evil". On the contrary, we see that Sol made a mistake trying to protect the children, but he wasn't "evil", Witches provoked them and instigated the conflict. Mae and Osha in their teenage anger refuse to see the full picture thus blaming everything on Jedi while we the audience are supposed to understand how twisted and corrupted Mae and Osha have become.

It’s just so… lame.. their mom turned into a freakin shadow monster. If the mother said anything at all this all could have been avoided. Sol didn’t do anything wrong. Why is the light side of the force constantly being demonized? While the dark side constantly now being sexualized and shown like we’re supposed to empathize with evil? It’s weird man.
Apparently they keep forgetting that the High Republic era took place BEFORE the Jedi turned themselves into a mindless security force of the Republic (and their benefactors) rather than maintaining their TRUE task as being guardians of peace AND justice

during the dialogue between sol and osha, sol said “i was protecting you, i did the right thing” and then osha says “if it was the right thing to do why didn’t you tell the jedi” then sol says “without mae there was no proof that you were created in this way” and then osha says “why didn’t you tell me” then sol said “they would have send you away”. in short im a little confused what they are trying to say, can anyone explain?

Wait a minute. Kyber crystals don't change color depending on the emotional state of the user, do they? Or was this really a thing? Was it in canon? I'm a Legends guy, and I've never heard of it.
It’s the new canon explanation as to how Sith have red lightsabers., It’s no longer that they make their crystals artificially. This practice is called “bleeding your crystal” which involves having skin contact with it while pouring all your negative emotions into it. It was introduced in Vader comic of 2018. The process can be reversed which is how ahsoka got her white sabers and recently they’ve shown that’s how Luke got his green crystal

No, it did not. Literally every single complaint about this show breaking canon comes from people not paying attention, lol. Watch 4:15 again. The crystal is bleeding while she uses the dark side to kill Sol. The crystal is also in direct contact with her skin. Dagan Gera bled his in a similar fashion -- except he wasn't killing anyone, just focusing on the dark side.
As I said, show's so bad that even piracy is struggling.

Even with the Rule of Two, there's usually more than two Sith active at a time. It's common for Sith apprentices to secretly train up their own apprentice in preparation of overthrowing their master (both Darth Vader and Count Dooku were guilty of this). Sometimes failed apprentices will try to create their own competing Rule of Two (Darth Maul did this during the Clone Wars). And that's not counting any rogue Sith who fell to the Dark Side or discovered the Sith teachings completely independently of the Rule of Two's master-student chain.
