Why is she not a bigger star? I saw her in Assassins in MILWAUKEE??!!?? playing Sara Jane Moore and she totally stole the show. She is the most underrated performer I can think of. Caroline, if you ever read this, I think you are spectacular and amazing.
Caroline O'Connor was Kelly Hunter's understudy, who played Sally Bowles in a 1986 revival of "Cabaret" at London's Strand Theatre. I saw Caroline's unforgettable August 16, ('86) performance and was completely blown away. I've also seen her in Sydney-in productions of "West Side Story" and "The Hatpin".
Wow I'm going to be singing this for a cabaret and Im really impressed at how she performed it. Im getting ideas!!! lol. But that was just incredible. What talent and energy!

@mysweetsmile23 i don't think so, but she's surely more of an alto than Bernadette was, so the vocals may make it seem that way - i think i love them both the same tho!
Miss waitress from Flatbush, get down from up there Don't you know that you're out of your class Miss waitress from Flatbush, I hope you're aware You're behaving like some little ass Hey miss What's this? See that fascinating creature With perfection stamped on every feature She was plain little Nellie The kid from the deli But, mother of god, look what happened to Mabel! From now on this pile of flesh'll be considered something pretty special And miss BLT down Is the toast of the town Mary and Joseph, what happened to Mabel? Every gesture and position that she takes Is smart and meticulous Talk about the magic that the camera makes But this is ridiculous! Hold your tongue and hold your snickers For the new enchantress of the flickers Is that plain little Nellie The kid from the deli So rattle me beads Look what happened to Mabel! Someone who was plain as mutton On the screen is cuter than a button And the girl with the pickles Who hustled for nickels Is somethin' to see. Look what happened to Mabel! Yesterday a tip collector But today just turn on that projector And Miss Avenoo R Is a regular star Holy Mother Machree, look what happened to Mabel! Up to now I really never knew that I Could be so ambitious But suddenly I know I have to say goodbye To bagels and knishes Oh St. Aloysius I know that you might think I'm balmy But the queen of the corned-beef and salami Is a glamorous goddess Who's bustin' her bodice Oh! No-one knows. If you can get a copy of the "Mack and Mabel" vocal score you'll be able to find out. @@bryantkeller9278 Yes, it's a half step lower. At the end, for Bernadette's "rattle me beads" - beads is a c sharp. For Caroline, it's a C. (If I recall from my teenage years, the vocal selections have it UP a half step from Bernadette - to a D for "beads")
Why Caroline O'Connor isn't the QUEEN of Broadway is a total mystery to me.
I absolutely love this. I’ll sit up late at night and watch it with the biggest smile on my face !
This is a really great performance, I stumbled across here on RUclips... what a talent! I wish I could say I've seen her perform... hope to one day..
Caroline O'Connor is the most unpublicised incredibly talented artiste I have seen in 45 years in the entertainment business!
I just LOVE how much fun she's having. That's what performing is really about.
love her doing this song.

Just love the way Caroline performs this fabulous tune. It has always been one of my favourites from her albums, so great to see it "live".
A stunning attractive happy performance.A perfect actors job.
whoahhhhh that last note gave me complete goosebumps- this song is highly addictive xD
Incredible. What a voice! Such talent. I saw her in Over the Rainbow - she had such boundless energy as Judy Garland - funny and vulnerable.

I saw her as Velma in CHICAGO on Broadway. She was fantastic. This is an awesome performance.
I'm so in love with this amazingly talented woman!! Xxx

One of my favorite Broadway songs of all times. I love Jerry Herman and Caroline.
Amazing, she's funnier than Peters and she hits the last note so graciously!! Bravo!!
I'm gonna be seeing her in Anything Goes next year!! :D
You had to see her do it on stage in London. Fuckin' amazing and that number had the normally staid British audience pee'ing from laughter.
Staid? Clearly haven’t been to the U.K. recently.

Sorry so late! but yes, this is lower than the original broadway production with BP.

She's a little too...cutesy for me with the song.
It's a cutesy song. Originated by Bernadette Peters on Broadway in 1974.
