Patrick, you're so very right about your comment on Michael Weinstein! No one else could be a better representative of the Great American Songbook than him! Music just fills his soul and we're so very lucky to hear him!!!
@@IZS13020 Robert was great, but he talks it a bit in the second half and music-mans through it afterwards. Michael performs it with more passion and depth of feeling.
Remembering Mack Sennett, The King Of Comedy gone 62 years. I saw this musical Mack and Mabel about him and the darling funny girl Mabel Norman in 2020 and loved it and this song. The whole score and cast was wonderful!!!! I love the way you sing it Mr. Feinstein.
This is my favorite song that Michael sings and sometimes when I see him in person and he has people telling him what they want to hear him sing this is my favorite song to tell him I want him to sing. The last time I saw him in New York, I asked for this song and he sang it. I hope to see him again and it’s for the song again. He is an amazing performer and I will be his fan forever. ❤️💕💙
Textbook crescendo between head voice and chest voice at the end. Top-class performance, Mr. Feinstein. I was raised on the "Pure Imagination" soundtrack as a kid but even after being educated in voice as an adult, you are a stunning performer.
I'm always looking for great songs that will last and be played and recorded for years to come. These are not always the best but rather the ones that simply fit together the best with great harmony. This song and performance has just made my top 10 list.... While this list does change it's important to know that as someone that plays hack piano and only see spots on paper those spots can be played any number of ways and still be known as "I Won't Send Roses". Top song and top performance by Mr. Feinstein!
I loved Jerry Herman..He had a show on Broadway years ago.."Jerry's Girls" fantastic...I met him after it was over...He signed my playbill and hugged me..He was such a kind sweet lovely man....RIP JERRY..
The finest voice of our age. Yup, I went there. I have loved his voice for over twenty years. Others come and go but Michael stays the same. Ageless and perfect.
It really is beautiful. I had the great pleasure of experiencing Michael perform for a couple of hours behind that beautiful piano. Honestly it was something I will remember until my days on this crazy planet come to an end. 2 hours of playing, talking, singing.
@AMT No not at that concert. I saw him about this time at a theatre in my city. The Palace Theatre in Melbourne Australia. It really was wonderful. Decades ago yet it remains a wonderful memory.
@AMT I’ve never heard of that town but I see on Google earth it’s a mining town. I’ve never been to W.A. at all actually. I know the movie Red Dog True Blue was filmed in the Pilbara, I’m sure despite its harshness there would be some beauty there in the landscape. I have been to central Australia on a two week photographic trip. Nice to see the gorges and the BIG rock. And been up to Queensland and Cairns a couple of times. And Tassie a few times. Travelling is hard work but maybe I should venture out a little more before the grim reaper comes calling 😂 The concert I saw was not being filmed. It was different to the concert in this video in that there was no orchestra, it was just the immaculately dressed Michael with his huge beautiful grand piano. That’s what was wonderful about it how just one man could be so personable and entertaining with his playing, singing, and story telling, just wonderful. Most concerts I’ve been to actually have been very good though I’ve only been to about half a dozen. Tommy Emanuel at the Melbourne concert hall back in the late 80s was incredible. Phil Collins a couple of times was great, his In The Air Tonight drumming was very memorable, sadly his days of performing to any high standard are no longer. Cyndi Lauper was actually extremly good but in hindsight that concert would have been mostly lip synced because her dancing and stage performance took priority. Saw George Benson in the early 80s. Saw Robert Palmer at the Entertainment Centre, that was a weird concert, his performing was fine but he didn’t speak a single word from beginning to end.
This is Michale at his best ... Great song , great lyric , and Michael ... putting it all together ...We remember seeing this show many years ago and loving it ..... what a song , what a melody , What a lyric ...and Michael is the best .... joe and Joni Negri
It's unbelievable how moving this song is.......simply unbelievable......I have never been moved by any other song like this song moves me......and to make it even more out of the ordinary I have never had to live the real life experience of it.........How it must feel to someone who HAS lived it must be .....in itself.... also .....unbelievable.......What an artist Michael Feinstein is..........."Unbelievable" is an inadequate word......
Any songwriter would consider themselves blessed to have one of their songs given such a loving nuanced interpretation. The composer's applause was evidence of that!
Crying my eyes out! Michael, not only is this beyond beautiful, You interpretation Oh my heart! Heart breaking especially when the words remind you of someone! Love you Michael!!
I love this version, for me its best by a country mile.John Barrowman isn`t bad,I heard him sing this at the Palladium in November, but I would still rather have heard Michael sing it again. Thanks for the song Michael and thanks for the superb video BestArtsBroadway.
I love this song,I said so 1year ago and I still feel the same. And I'm still listening to it on Skype with the lady in my life Janus604 who lives abroad.I too am going to see Michael in April 2011 in London.Lets hope he sings this song....Thanks for posting the video BAB
Michael, you touched the heart of this flower long ago and forever will. I will never forget once meeting you at a Ginger Rogers' event in Hollywood and how you treated me, just another fan, as if I were just as important as the music you treasure.
Dearest Michael; Has there ever been anything as beautiful as you? That's not really a question. I just want, with all my heart, to not send you all the roses in the world. Charles Davis.
It’s my favorite musical. I saw the original production shortly after it opened and again in LosAngeles. They still say there will be a film version. Too late. Maybe.
I just saw him sing this song on the PBS series that is airing at this moment on Friday evenings at 9:00 pm. Last week had two segments, They are marvelous. And, I had never seen or heard this song. I instantly fell in love with it. What's not to love?
This is the first time I have heard this song and it is sang so beautifully, I came across this site as I watched a guy called Ted from Blackburn in Lancashire sing this who has got Alzheimer’s and I was so enchanted. Great job Ted and Michael
Very touching version by Michael Feinstein . Very heartfelt lyrics by Jerry Herman. A classic yet not as well known as it should be . I also like Robert Goulet's version .
Man, Feinstein makes every word count, beautiful expression, colour, my favourite all-time version of this song. Interesting too to note that his technique is not perfect, tense lower jaw, chewed consonants etc, comes to show; at the end of the day art is above everything! .
Their is a pub on the Dock Road in Liverpool called the Atlantic, (or Cordwells,) The singer called Kenny Docherty, every Saturday night would sing this song, It looms large in my lifes legend, it is a song that came from the movie "The Music Man" and sung by Robert Preston, Kenny Docherty, is perhaps the man who made me love this song, and the memeories it evokes are magical,
There is something absolutely delightful about Michael's voice. His interpretation of songs often gives me goosebumps.
Theatrical voice. Broadway stile❤
Michael Feinstein, America's Treasure
Michael is a Nobel prize winner in my book for the great American song book renditions .
Patrick, you're so very right about your comment on Michael Weinstein! No one else could be a better representative of the Great American Songbook than him! Music just fills his soul and we're so very lucky to hear him!!!
That should be Feinstein, damn I can't text!
This is just too good. Perfection.
But how does a guy that won’t send roses sing a song like this?!?
No one sings this song better than Michael.
Robert Preston!
@@IZS13020 Robert was great, but he talks it a bit in the second half and music-mans through it afterwards. Michael performs it with more passion and depth of feeling.
Have you seen the Brian Stokes Mitchell version?
Try Robert Goulet the original who died in 2007 a Hollywood star
@@IZS13020 Robert could sing but he wasn't a great singer. Try John Barrowman ruclips.net/video/NuFIzHifuu4/видео.html
He was born to sing this song, sensational 😢
Absolutely love this song! Just kills me it's so sad and so romantic. Michael is always wonderful he does a wonderful job on this.

The best performer of this song, ever!
A virtually perfect, beautifully sung, beautifully orchestrated rendition of Jerry Herman's heartfelt song of love. Bravo.
A wonderful song, well sung
Real heartbreaker of a song, beautifully delivered by Michael Feinstein here
A song of a man who has too much pride & will stay alone
A true Classic. ...No matter how many times I watch this performance..it remains simply exquisite.
Goosebumps! What a Beautiful Song . Michael is Magnificent!
He breaks my heart every time
QUÉ HERMOSA VOZ...! QUEDO SIN PALABRAS...
Have loved this man for years , no one comes close to his voice
Feinstein is a wonderful show to attend. He is a true talent.
An amazing singer,I’m hooked
Magnificent performance of this lovely song
What a song! And what a performance. Michael you are amazing...again and again.
A beautiful, bittersweet song. Thank you, Mr. Herman for writing this. Thanks for this post. It is beautiful.

Beautiful!!!! Also he articulates each word and his piano praying is beautiful too!!!
Living legend. Just incredible.
Beautiful, beautiful Michael. OH crying.....
A magnificent voice, beautiful song and must say that "Where Do You Start", however, is my favorite. Most heart wrenching and poignant!
Done! Speechless! Best romantic performance of all time. Living Legend. Thank-you for posting this!!😊😄
One of THE most beautiful love songs.

This spectacular interpretation by this singer is so special, and the playing of the piano too.

It takes its place alongside "Send In The Clowns" for its "repeat value" and expert lyric writing.
