The lead singer of Ukraine’s band Go_A, Kateryna Pavlenko, reported feeling a little unwell this morning. In accordance with the health and safety protocol she has undergone a PCR test for COVID-19 and as a precautionary measure Kateryna missed this afternoon’s rehearsal and press conference. The other members of Go_A have all tested negative for COVID-19 and performed with a stand-in singer. They also attended Ukraine’s press conference.

100% agree. Nevertheless, Kateryna's is amazing and her voice suits this song better, ofc (considering it's her song, adjusted to her voice and singing style, and already sung hundreds of times), but Emmie van Stijn did something impossible as a stand-in singer (in such short time in the language she doesn't know (?) with so fast song). It's very worthy of appreciation and I really enjoyed this version too. The thing I missed was GO_A guys coulda say some appreciation words in a press conference to her. That would have been sweet.
@@mikeschagen4983 You're right. Just keep in mind when I wrote this it was just after rehearsal and press conference (which I watched) and where they did say nothing meaningful about her performance. No blaming anyone or something just a fact and expression of how I felt and what I missed during PC. Inviting her is amazing and the least she deserved. Love to all of them GO_A and stand-in. Now, I'm waiting for an official video from ESC or GO_A with a full version of her singing.

Wow, very impressive. As a native Dutch men i can say that there is an day/night difference between Dutch and Ukranian. Hope that Kateryna will recover asap. Emmie van Stijn did perfect job
actually both Dutch and Ukrainian have common roots in the Indo-European language and some basic words are similar. Roof is Dak in Dutch and Dakh in Ukrainian, for example 😁 so these are very closely related languages compared to Chinese or Egyptian

As Ukrainian, I must admit that Dutch girl sang in Ukrainian language in rather high level of pronunciation (bringing to mind that Ukrainian language is too difficult to learn or pronounce for Germanic languages speakers). My applause and thanks to that brilliant girl for help🇺🇦❤

She did an excellent job. However, she might known the language from before. I am sure there are not many people in the Netherlands who know how to speak Ukrainian, and can sing, in addition. Still, there are always people who learn some of the less obvious languages for one reason or another. Even if Emmie van Stijn would have known Ukrainian in advance (and I obviously don't know if that was the case) she did a remarkable job.
Well, Benelux professional singers do take foreign language pronunciation very seriously. Where she learned to do Ukrainian folk singing is a big mystery though.

She did an excellent job. However, she might known the language from before. I am sure there are not many people in the Netherlands who know how to speak Ukrainian, and can sing, in addition. Still, there are always people who learn some of the less obvious languages for one reason or another. Even if Emmie van Stijn would have known Ukrainian in advance (and I obviously don't know if that was the case) she did a remarkable job.
Well, Benelux professional singers do take foreign language pronunciation very seriously. Where she learned to do Ukrainian folk singing is a big mystery though.
First of all, that stand-in nailed this!
Secondly, Ukraine definitely lifts the song up with the performance!
