Okay at this point I just have to admit it, I'm completely addicted to this song!! So unique and fascinating! The language and ethnical sound mixed with techno, just brilliant. Congrats Ukraine, Italy loves you!
This song is based on a ukrainian folk music. The lyrics of the song tell about old traditions of planting hamp, which was used to produce fabrics, ropes, shoes and other useful facilities. This band specifies on folk songs combined with techno. This is one of their ideas to bring modern sound to old folk songs. The band singer, Kateryna Pavlenko "Monokate", wrote many songs, collected many folk songs and stories around Ukraine and she is indeed very unique and energetic.
It sucked that those lame jury’s from Europe didn’t appreciate the song but I was happy to see that the public did with the huge amount of points they gave Ukraine!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This band was superior to many others that performed. But Eurovision loves to promote generic music so of course they didn’t win. Glad I got to hear this song though!
Why are people so closed to difference? This song doesn't see enough value. It's a tremendous work of art. Congratulations Ukraine, congratulations Go_A. Loves from Turkey
This is an ancient Ukrainian ritual of calling spring ("pryidy pryidy vesnianochko" - "come spring, come"). It's about a rebirth of nature which people were thought they should help.

I've always been a sucker for music in different languages, because I enjoy listening to the rhythms they create. But I have to say, this is one of the best ones I have ever heard. Ukraine was totally robbed. They took a traditional song and made it brand new. People all over the world are enjoying it now. Congrats to Go_A for making this masterpiece!
Насколько круто такой постапокалиптический клип сочетается с народными мотивами и техно ритмом! До мурашек пробрало. Моей двухлетней дочери особенно понравилось,подпевала на весь дом! Супер,Украина! Удачи вам
Excellent storytelling for a great song. Symbolism was easy enough for me to understand with a cool edge of Dieselpunk. Slava Ukraini, blessings be, from the U.S.A.
This definitely does not concern Ukrainian ) Ukrainian language took the second place on melodic criteria after Italian and it was ranked as the third most beautiful language in the world on such criteria as phonetics, vocabulary, phraseology and sentence structure after French and Persian at a linguistic contest held in Paris in 1934.
Ukraine sure know how NOT to dissapoint. Damn, the recorded version and the live version sounds 100% the same! The voice, the performance...everything it's top notch! Good work again Ukraine!!!
Hell no. With all due respect but look what Romania send this year. Poor Roxen blew up the live performance and we were not even in the freaking final. So I stand by my opinion.
@@Auristmusic Italy's rock is still better than all the other trash that was played this year. I would have preferred Ukraine but Italy isn't a bad alternative
@@Auristmusic Italy's song was a lotta things, but generic isn't one of them. Italy and Ukraine were my top 1 and 2 respectively, even the guys from Italy said Ukraine's was their favorite song. Let's just be happy it wasn't some generic pop song that won (like all old people are saying here, "this music doesn't belong on the song contest >:(" ) Still think this song's criminally underrated tho
"Shum" is an old Ukrainian song performed during a spring ritual that calls for nature to wake up. "Shum" is a spring forest - as the rebirth of nature and life itself. Considering that Kate, having only one lung, sings so magically, she is a Queen of song, she ist the Magical Soul of Ukraine!💙💛
What I really appreciate is Ukraine never gives up being itself. Look at the lyrics: they are unique, tell a story, and show how rich the Ukrainian culture is. And fantastic folkloric music mixed with the modern one, just adorable! I like 2020 entry more than 2021, but both are at a different level compared to the most ESC songs which are more or less the copy of one another and not original. This one is my favorite one along with the French entry. Best luck, respect and love from Turkey!
This has to be the winner. Singing to nature during an apocalypse, waiting for spring, this captures the true spirit of 2021 kinda like "Fai rumore" did last year. Iconic.

Mulțumim!
Thank you for the knowledge.

I'm glad this came up in my feed because I was trying to remember the last time Eurovision had any good songs and it turns out it was three years ago
It’s been almost two weeks since Eurovision and every now and again, my mind flips on this song and then it’s there for the day, rent free

Excellent storytelling for a great song. Symbolism was easy enough for me to understand with a cool edge of Dieselpunk. Slava Ukraini, blessings be, from the U.S.A.
My personal winner. This proves that there is no unsingable language as many claim. This goes right to my workout playlist

I never knew I needed a techno Slavic folk song in my life until now but I'm so grateful now that its here.
I loved this song when I heard it in Eurovision and it has this amazing video
"Shum" is an old Ukrainian song performed during a spring ritual that calls for nature to wake up. "Shum" is a spring forest - as the rebirth of nature and life itself. Considering that Kate, having only one lung, sings so magically, she is a Queen of song, she ist the Magical Soul of Ukraine!💙💛
Only one lung? How can it possible!? She is so good, so brilliant!
@@veronicalapilla2978 there is an in-depth interview with the singer on RUclips. It is subtitled, thankfully.
