I've had the 109 for years but never knew about the flare gun colors. That's wild.

This is Just Golden, best 109 vídeo on RUclips, you should consider doing this for other warbirds. It would be amazing.

Any petrolheads who are curiouse as to how a Messerschmitt Bf-109's 2,000hp supercharged engine sounded in the flesh, I would recomend watching the episode of Coltranes Planes and Automobiles, the episode "Supercharger".
Clearly there has been tons of research to get to this level of detailed simulation. Great work.

Or the PaddyPatrone channel mentioned then linked by DieselThunder above.
Leagues better for sound than the video you recommended.

In 109 during take off you want to slow down tail rising rate by holding a little back pressure on stick, otherwise you will get this nasty left swing. Gyroscopic effect is nasty in 109 with this small rudder. You may feel that rudder efficiency is good but when you add gyroscopic precession during tail rise, rudder become ineffective again you need to hold on this tail rising a little bit more.
If it was a narrow airstrip you would be off the runway, very dangerous. Rookie mistake, you get better with practice.

Glad you found it helpful and thank you! The channel is growing, and happy to do guides like these. I've slowed down a bit on it though, mostly as I've been helping out with testing of the upcoming F-4E. I'll have more Bf-109 stuff at some point, as I wanted to do an aerial combat guide, similar to the one I did for the Mustang.

Ooh! I know what I was going to say, talking of engine sounds. Have you tried the Echo 19 Mustang and Spit engine noise mods? They're absolutely BRIILLIANT!!

HIGHLY recommended, you can always get rid if you don't get on with 'em. I would say give it a little time, like a week or so just so's you get used to them because it's difficult when you first jump from one to the other, speaking as someone who DOES have a liittle experience with things audio...@@DieselThunderAviation

Hey Diesel, out of curiosity, what is your source that the optimum cruise speed for the 109 is 350 kmh? Chuck's Guide and the 109 Official Manual both say that optimum cruise speed is 420KMH.
Also, have you noticed that the actual official manual for the 109 is wrong about the engine settings? It says 1.35 ATA and 2550-2600 RPM with the auto governor on, and 1.35 ATA at 2400-2450rpm with the governor off and prop at 12 o'clock pitch is the max continuous power for the 109. But on chucks guide it says that the max continuous cruise is 1.25 ATA and 2400+/-65RPM, and economy cruise at 1.05 ATA and 2000+/-80 RPM. I'm inclined to believe Chuck's Guide because the numbers in it make more sense to me and they align with what you said.
    Thanks.

The 109 always spawns with the L hook thing pointed up to the "MW" regardless of whether you have any or not. So, if you don't, then make sure to turn it down to point to "Krafstoff" when you get in the plane.

Well done. Welcome to the world of false friends. I always struggle and need to remember the difference between current and actually, cause the German "aktuell" means current. German "Auf" means open and "Zu" is closed. And "Aus" means off. Details matter. "Zu" needs to be pronounced as tsu and lesser like zoo. German is not that smooth of a language *rofl*
Also today you would write "waagerecht" for horizontal but back than, they wrote it with only one a. E.g. beam scale is a "Balkenwaage".
And I can agree Greg's airplanes and automobiles channel is great.

At 12:12, You mention the elevator trim, but it is actually the stabilizer, right?

    • @DieselThunderAviation
      @DieselThunderAviation  6 месяцев назад +1

Correct, that handwheel moves the entire horizontal stabilizer. The Fw-190 works the same way, though uses an electric motor instead of a handwheel.
