The most emotional part of the video for me was seeing how psyched Cordi was for your send. To be so emotionally invested in the accomplishments of another.... that's some real love, man.
Exactly this, Could not have said it beter. Made me tear up seeing it and give me goose bump typing this. What achievement, after such an investment and what a precious relationship!
Honestly I was crying a little when I saw this… these moments when someone is appreciating the hard work and all you been through to get somewhere are so amazing… everybody needs someone like her :)
Not gonna lie that final chalk up had me stressed out xD. I've been watching your videos for years, and you are a huge inspiration. Congrats dude! We all can see how much work you put in to achieve this.
Haha you and me both friend, it was completely drenched so I could really have slipped off, and we joked about that just before that if I made it to the top that’s where it’d get spicy. Thanks for the support over the years, I really appreciate that
Same!! I just wanted to fast forward the video ,hoping You didnt slip on the slab Emil. I was so nervous watching it. Biiiiiig congratz Emil!!!!!!! Good luck further down this road!
A part of what makes your videos so enjoyable to watch is that we don't know if you sent or not, thus creating some suspense and immersion. You should keep it that way.
that was one of the best climbing videos ever! thank you for sharing your process and thoughts! so emotional to see you sharing your last sesh with cordi. you take the RUclips climbing content to another level by not only reflecting your beta and your physical strength, but also your mind and your mental game. that's totally inspiring! thank you and congrats to the send !
I think something as impressive as this feat of skill and strength is Emil's mention of gaining weight to send harder grades. As most of us have heard in the community, at our gyms, at our crags, the thought of losing weight is prominent and many are outspoken in advocating weight loss. Emil's ability to go against the grain and do what is right for his body and his goals in gaining weight/muscle takes a lot of mental resilience considering the community's vibe about weight in climbing performance. Thanks to Emil for making a valuable discussion point and a being a beacon for the climbing community.
I just love videos on long time progressions. So often we see just fast information on "how to improve this or that", but it almost never shows what it really takes to accomplish these goals. Consistency, is the hardest part. People say "anyone can climb 8a if they are consistently climbing for 5-8 years". They don't understand that consistency is the result of a lot of work, and not the other way around. Being consistent means being aware of risk of injuries and having the mental toughness to work to prevent them, means being able to have the right mindset to manage adversities, mean being able to set the goals that are right for you (meaning that they allow you to continue climbing), means having the right social support, means being mindful of your diet, sometimes means making sacrifices, controlling so much stuff and that is soooo tiring. Videos like this really makes me psyched, and the quality is so high! Love how mindful you are of your mindgame as well! Keep it up! P.S. Yes, we are interested in the weight/training change story!
@@EmilAbrahamsson Thank you for reading them! You are an inspiration! Hope I will have the courage to speak up to you next time I meet you 🤣 Maybe at the BLX comp?
So insane to watch you over the years, going from a solid gym crusher on Erik’s channel to a V15 outdoor monster and amazing climbing RUclipsr in your own right. You are so inspiring dude. I’ve loved seeing all your progress so far and I can’t wait to see where you go next.
Dude, that's incredible! It brought back such a strong memory for me! I had a send like this of Arabesque years ago, I had to defrost the frozen water in the pocket, and then put a layer of chalk on top, I'd tried it for 3 days at the beginning of my trip and it made a hole in my knee, 30days layer it was healed enough... I spent an hour prepping the boulder (defrosting the pocket, brushing snow off the top), did some press-ups and star jumps, jumped on and sent in first go, it was super special, not my hardest climb, but the most against the odds, and my strongest memory of any boulder. Congratulations, psyched for you, journey over destination
The mountains that we climb are the mountains of our mind, bra jobbat Emil!! Och fint att du delar med dig av en del av processen. Väldigt inspirerande.
DUDE WHAT THE HELL, I thought you wouldn't quite do it but would get really close, based on the title. You just posted the biggest achievement of your career on RUclips and named it like any other climbing vlog! I know you're being humble but please change the title to something more clickbait, I beg. People need to see this video, the story is so well told, even accessible and interesting to non-climbers. I was tearing up at the end with Cordi, well fucking done dude we're all so proud of you.
Haha I really love this comment, thank you for it. But actually, I chose the title for people like you, the ones who supported me over the years. I feel if I spoiled the ending in some way I’d ruin the video (a bit), I wanted the suspense to still be there. Maybe I’ll change it in a few days, but for now I want this to be for the community. Thanks for the support, homie ❤️
Little psychology tip here! When you are in that situation in which you did all the moves, you did appropriate links, you are trying to send again and again until you feel like vomiting at only the thought of trying hard again, there's a trick to make you switch from the goal to the process mindset! It is a bit tricky when you are on a trip, but in a certain way it also works really well (as long as conditions allows it)? And that is, forbidding yourself to even touch the climb for at least two days (if you are projecting in other situations, the gold standard is one week). It might mean you could have only two-three sessions to work on it before you get home, but it does work like magic (pressure, in this case, helps too). You can climb other secondary things, but while your body is recovering from doing always the same moves, you are also freeing your mind from the "try hard" mindset and all thoughts about sending your project. Soon enough you will miss how much you worked on it, how everything flows perfectly because you rehearsed the climb so many times, how you know every nuance of that rock, how you feel accomplished putting yourself in a body position that felt impossible at start. And then, sending just becomes, again, part of the process. Hope you find this useful!
Awesome stuff. As a relatively beginner climber also a little on the larger side for climbing (187 cm and 82 kg pretty lean) currently getting destroyed by all the featherweights on anything with small holds, seeing you do crazy stuff like this is super inspiring and gives me a lot of hope for the future.
I started watching with scepticism, finish with tears. "This is not about goal but about process" - life, every day of life is exactly the same. Thanks.
Applause, applause, Emil :) If you want something, you have to work for it, physically and mentally. Cause nobody else is gonna do it for you. Applies for everything in life. Big thumbs up to Samuel for filming and supporting you in the whole process. And of course, Cordelia, giving the send go the proper emotional emphasis ;) PS: Edit: on point.
A perfect example of how important the mind is in this physical sport. My taka away message is don't forget to have fun along the way to the goal and try to think as less as possible about the destination.
The Way you tell a story about a journey on a rock in such a personal and beautiful way is deeply moving. Tears rolled down my face for you and your devotion and emotion. Paljon onnea ja kiitos!
Wild dude. Honestly not surprised that you sent, you've been looking strong. Glad you have pushed into a new level, you deserve to feel stoked. These videos have felt like a bit of a mini-series and this was the story arc and conclusion, and it ended on a high note. Congrats.
Dude the try hard in these attempts was inspiring. And watching Cordi and Sam cheer you on and be so invested really warms the heart. What an awesome video.
Stumbled upon this video about 2 months ago now. Never seen a climbing video ever, nor was I ever interested in the sport. I'm 34 and I've been climbing for about a month and a half, 2 times per week. Thanks Emil!
I was ready to quit the video after your 'last' go at about 2/3 of the way through, but noticed there's some time left and decided to listen to whatever lesson you learned from this. The lesson seems to be "I just sent an 8C boulder". Congrats!!!
Oh my gosh dude, so impressed and proud of you! I loved your description of the journey. From just wanting a notch on your belt, to letting go of the ego so that the process could change you, to build you into a better climber, a better person. Beautiful.
Brilliant story-telling, it didn't feel like a 30 min video at all. At the end I believe everyone watching was cheering with you and your team! Congratz Emil 👏👏👏👏
Man - I normally don't comment RUclips videos.. but here I go : Thanks for being such an inspiration of a person. I like to watch great climbers (and you are one) but in the end I love nothing more than seeing a great human being that is on a journey. Thanks for sharing the process Emil!
Bro, that was too cool - the process, the dedication, the persistence through successive failures and the embracing of small victories. THIS is what climbing is all about for me, and why, at 70 years old, I'm training this winter for climbs I WILL send in the Spring! 🙏
Big congrats Emil! It's crazy how much variability there is on attempts even at your level. I feel like sometimes it's easy to get in the mindset that we are doing everything near perfectly and if we fail that it means that we're just not strong enough. I think that it helps to remember those sends that we have when we are in "terrible condition", or "weren't feeling it", or when it's goddamn snowing on the rock and just how much of a difference that minute variability really makes. Anyways, super stoked for you again! Strong as funk!
this is an incredible video, I have never been so into a dangerous sport prior to this, but watching you take us along the journey was so amazing and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. fucking congratulations man that was so amazing!!
This was such a good video! I've been subscribed for a while, but usually only watch indoor bouldering videos, since that is what I climb. It was so inciteful and relatable to see that down day, where you seemed physically strong enough, but the mental aspect made it feel so far away. I had the same feeling when I was projecting a V8 (basically the edge of my limit lol) boulder for like a month, before I finally got it. All the moves were so doable, but there was a point where I just ended up shutting down and choking after I got past the crux time and time again. Finding joy in the process and focusing on the moves instead of obsessing over the finish/grade is such good advice. It really helps to see other people talk about the grind and how they push past mental and physical blocks.
LETS FUCKING GOOOO THAT WAS CRAZY!! I literally started crying when u got down from the boulder and seeing how hyped you were. Absolute legend what A SEND!!
I wish I could like this a 1000 times! Love your videos man. I started to get a little emotional those two times you fell at the end bc you were flowing and I thought it was for sure the send. So happy for you, Cordi, Sam and everyone involved. Bravo!
Hey Emil, Thank you so much for sharing this journey with us; it was so wonderfully told. It's funny how you mentioned that the mental/confidence challenge you had wasn't something you felt was helpful, but I often find it is in those low points our inner resilience shines the most. As frustrating as those times might be, I think it is those moments that make us realize how much we actually have it in us to shift our focus and find that resolve. Huge congrats on the send. I actually teared up a little bit at the end; can't help but feel incredibly stoked for you. Cheers and thank you as always for the great climbing :)
I sat in front of my desktop with a huge grin on my face, when you finally send it! And Cordelias reaction was so sweet. What an emotional journey this video was! Thank you very much Emil. :)
Congratulations. I had very similar reflections upon finally achieving my first 8C this season as well. Just another boulder - more proud of the mega journey it has been! Happy for you and especially happy to see another heavier climber having success at these grades. Onwards.
Incredible how the vibe changed once you changed the focus to the processed. I am verry happy for you, congrats and keep it up, you have just cheered my day with all the smiles and high psyche.
Pfff my mind is blown! The all out attempt was beautiful and the final send and Cordi her reactions...incredible. You told the story in an amazing way! Inspiring stuff Emil
When you take us through your mental process as you show the physical movements, it's really helped my approach to climbing. Awesome job thanks for sharing your journey.
Incredible work Emil! It's been amazing to see your mental progress on projects over the last few years, I find your focus on "the process" very inspiring - it always reminds me to have fun on the boulder, rather than just focusing on the send :)
I've been following your channel for a few years now. It is so impressive how you went from a "strong funny bouldering youtuber" to an actual "pro-level crusher", amazing job man ! keep it up ;)
Congrats on the send, Emil. I've also found that mentality is such an important thing in climbing, especially when projecting. No matter how strong I feel, if my mental game is off, then I'm not going to have a good time. Thanks for taking us on this journey with you and once again, congrats on the project send.
Whenever Emil tries big projects like this, my heart is actually racing watching him climb. This is truly my favorite channel on RUclips because it compels me more emotionally than any other content. Keep doing what you’re doing and staying strong💪🏻. You just make me want to get stronger
One of the best bouldering vids I've seen in recent years!! So emotional & relatable, even if we don't climb at this level. Well done Emil & huge congrats 2u!! :-D
You are incredible bro. A true inspiration and you and nikken are part of the reason I try to climb so hard and love the sport. Great send I how no doubts you will send V16 maybe even V17 someday. You are truly one of the strongest people I have ever seen.
Nicely done Emil! i love seeing your growth as a climber, and your story telling is getting really good! so thank you! As a female climber/setter, I really appreciate seeing your partner, and other female climbers/people in your videos!! please, please keep that perspective open as we all need the encouragement and support! Best of luck on your next project!!!
Hey Deb! Thank you for taking the time out of your day to write me this feedback, I really appreciate that, it's a very good reminder. I'll do my best to diversify more!

Congrats dude, well deserved send!! I was missing Cordelia and then booom!! Best cameo ever!! :) This year I've decided to focus on bouldering (i've been sport climbing for more than 15 years and needed some new goals) and your videos make me psyched to train&climb hard, thanks for the motivation!! :)
Congrats dude!! You mentioned talking about your weight gain in the future, it would be awesome to hear about your diet and how you've changed it :) I'd like to know more about how you think about nutrition and what supplements you use (if any)? Congratulations again, can't wait for more!
Emil, I've been following you for a long time (starting with EKB) and to see your climbing and video skills improve so much is awesome! I can't wait to keep seeing you crush boulders and make amazing videos of them!!

love the pinch under our leg beta! I was sad to see it go but it came back in the end and I was happy. guys can have cool beta to!
When you take us through your mental process as you show the physical movements, it's really helped my approach to climbing. Awesome job thanks for sharing your journey.
Amazing video! Congrats on the send! Cordi’s reaction at the end when you mantled up was priceless.
Incredible work Emil! It's been amazing to see your mental progress on projects over the last few years, I find your focus on "the process" very inspiring - it always reminds me to have fun on the boulder, rather than just focusing on the send :)
EPIC, Congrats Emil.
such a phenomenal film too. WOW
This made me so happy! Soso sick. Congrats Emil!
This was really cool to watch after listening to your episode on the nugget.
Absolutely amazing and inspirational! Good stuff 🎉
That’s awesome!!! Congratulations. I felt the emotions at the end!
I've been following your channel for a few years now. It is so impressive how you went from a "strong funny bouldering youtuber" to an actual "pro-level crusher", amazing job man ! keep it up ;)
Congrats on the send and the journey!👏👏👏 100% agree on the cliche of focusing on the process instead of tops
Congrats on the send, Emil. I've also found that mentality is such an important thing in climbing, especially when projecting. No matter how strong I feel, if my mental game is off, then I'm not going to have a good time.
Thanks for taking us on this journey with you and once again, congrats on the project send.
That was EPIC Emil! So bad ass and inspiring! I'm gonna go out tonight and send something because of you! So proud!
Whenever Emil tries big projects like this, my heart is actually racing watching him climb. This is truly my favorite channel on RUclips because it compels me more emotionally than any other content. Keep doing what you’re doing and staying strong💪🏻. You just make me want to get stronger
Amazing man. So happy you were able to send. Incredible.. i am a bit teary eyed 😅
This video was Exactly what I needed after a rather rough week ❤️ massive congratulations 🎉
One of the best bouldering vids I've seen in recent years!! So emotional & relatable, even if we don't climb at this level. Well done Emil & huge congrats 2u!! :-D
Hats off for the storytelling! We could really feel the journey to this goal, the ups and downs you went through. Massive congrats for the milestone!
You are incredible bro. A true inspiration and you and nikken are part of the reason I try to climb so hard and love the sport. Great send I how no doubts you will send V16 maybe even V17 someday. You are truly one of the strongest people I have ever seen.
Congrats Emil! what an amazing send. Thanks for taking us on the journey with you.
I teared up too my man. Caught me off guard. Watching you progress and keep pushing through things in life has been a gift. You're a part of my life and one of my favorite climbers 😎🤙
Thanks a ton my friend, much love to you
This guy is a great climber and a great human. Truly. Had a moment to chat with him via social medias post watching this. You’re a legend in the making man! Keep up the amazing work! This video has inspired me so much!
Way to go Emil 🎉 it was great to see all of the videos from the beginning . The progress was amazing, how well you could execute the extremely difficult moves in the end. Enjoy your next journey as well !
Hey Emil, Congrats on your first 8C. thanks for sharing your amazing journey with us. I can't wait to see your progress on off the wagon next.
Congrats dude, well deserved send!! I was missing Cordelia and then booom!! Best cameo ever!! :)
This year I've decided to focus on bouldering (i've been sport climbing for more than 15 years and needed some new goals) and your videos make me psyched to train&climb hard, thanks for the motivation!! :)
Congrats Emil, amazing story, so cool to see cordi supporting and being involved even if she can't be there, you 2 are awesome
Congrats dude!! You mentioned talking about your weight gain in the future, it would be awesome to hear about your diet and how you've changed it :) I'd like to know more about how you think about nutrition and what supplements you use (if any)?
Congratulations again, can't wait for more!
One of the best climbing videos i've seen. Congrats dude you're strong.
Emil, I've been following you for a long time (starting with EKB) and to see your climbing and video skills improve so much is awesome!
I can't wait to keep seeing you crush boulders and make amazing videos of them!!
Congratulations Emil! I remember watching you doing the 8B in your first outdoor video on Eriks channel back then. On paper it's such a marginal difference, just two grades, but it makes the world of a difference. How far you've come!
