OMG!
i guess I am kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good website to watch new movies online ?
totalmente de acuerdo
jaco pastorius era muy bueno, pero laboriel no tiene nada que envidiarle
Abe Laboriel is a beast
And his hair was still black then!!! Ain't no one quite like Abe L! #Lifelong_Fan
Indeed. I don't recall him playing acoustic bass before, in fact I don't recall anyone but him using that err... 4-string guitar, and masterfully so.
Lee Ritenour is one of the most underated guitarists on the planet. Great gig :)
who says he is underrated??
Probably a bunch of youngsters who've never heard of him? It's sad that greatness doesn't always equal "press" ...
Wow Ernie Watts man... killer Sax player. You deserve way more recognition. Great gig .
My exact thought! first note he played I nearly passed out it was so good!
He's great as a member of Charlie Haden's Quartet West.
Absolutely SMASHING performance. One of my favorites from Lee Ritenour. Abraham Laboriel is a monster on the bass, too! Ernie Watts is a powerhouse on the sax.
Just by watching this version of Rio Funk we can already tell that Ritenour had already begun to shift towards a more funky sound. Up til then he was all jazz but now he's almost a rock figure. Fusion encompasses a really wide array of genres.

I've been treating my headaches with this music for almost 35 years! :-)
Abe is straight🔥fire 💪🏿🙌🏾🕺💃
No matter how many times I listen to mid-late 80's spanning through early 90's jazz I always come back to this concert for my nightcap. Still one of the best I've ever seen you RUclips.
43:03-46:54 Probably Ernie's greatest solo ever. He must have been surprised himself, aften having played such a great solo. Wow, that was fantastic.
I'm listening to it right now and I can't believe it!
Bellissimo concerto !
I was there! That night was just magical. The first time I heard Gary play. And I was completely floored when he came back in 1993 with Chick and the second Elektric Band. Love his playing.
Gary is an underrated drummer IMOP
@@dennis288 Lol! He's only underated to the masses who don't know anything about drumming. But, to those of us who are into serious music, he's one of the greats!
I agree! A great drummer. For me in top ten best drummers. I have seen lists of most famous drummers, best drummers etc, but the most important list for me is the drummers I like. Vinnie, Dave W, Steve G, Carlos V. Gary Novak is 💯% in my list!
Hate to say, but this is what is missing from Pat Metheny's great playing! Classy excitement!
Abe is delivering as usual, and Gary Novak is a freaking pro session drummer. Although I can recognize some traces of Vinnie style indoctrination
Did he study with Vinnie, or some of the same instructors?
Great old GRP-times! Remember being in the record-shop and buying many of these records. CD's? Anybody here who knows what I mean? 😂 I still have mine. Lee, Larry Carlton, Tom Scott, Eric Marienthal, David Benoit, Chick Corea, Robben Ford and others, just to mention some GRP-stuff. 😉
Viem o čom hovoríš.Diane Shurr skvelá speváčka.Jazz je najlepšia muzika na svete.Nic neprekoná tento žáner.
Musicians are smiling while they are playing...THAT S THE PURE SPIRIT OF MUSIC !!!!
I love that Rit smiles all through his concerts. A fine entertainer

Exactly!
This is awesome what a lineup what professionalism what arranging don't get no better than these guys
Earnie,Earnie and Earnie. I had no idea he was that good. Woow
+Bobby Smith Hey Bobby, try to get your hands on anything by a band called Gamalon (Buffalo, NY area). Ernie did many projects with them and it is well worth the effort to find this music. A great blend of jazz and guitar oriented rhythms and melodies. Ernie is very under rated.
Same thought... why didn't I know about Ernie... hes awesome.
Rio Sol is absolutely sublime on this live recording. damn!
@Nathan Mohammad Nice spam bot!
Que show!!!! vale a pena assistir várias vezes o estilo deste grande guitarrista, muita técnica e belas melodias.,,
Sim!
What is it exactly about Ernie Watts ? There are and have been so many great saxophonists .. but Ernie just hits a certain spot ... his tone ; his phrasing ; his way of building a solo ; the way he blends his phenomenal technical skill with the most gorgeous sense of melody ; the way he navigates changes ... & then there is something else that I cant define ... there is a feeling when he plays .... I just love Ernie !
Agreed. And an absolute gentleman too. When he cams to Dublin Ireland a couple of years ago the show went on about 40 minute over schedule. The band, Ernie and the audience were just loving it. After the show he just hung out and was so down to earth and friendly. When my son told him he was a sax player he was just so full of encouragement. In at least 40 years attending shows this was at the top for me.
Ernie is absolutely amazing
Have a friend he thinks Pete christlieb is the LA cat on tenor and I say no way it’s Ernie!!
Cítim to presne ako Ty.Je to velikán v jazze.Milujem ich,a viete že keď si pustíte ich o 20 rokov vždy to bude skvelé a balzam pre uši a dušu.Ake skvelé to na zemi je keď máme skvelých muzikantov jazzu.
In the past, I made some comments about Gary Novak (drums) being less than average for a Lee Ritenour band. I stand corrected. After watching the entire concert and a few other videos, Gary lives up to his reputation. Dude has chops, he just picks his spots and let it go, love it. And Abe...forget it man. He is simply insane...a drummers dream...always in the pocket.
Every time I get the urge to play bass, I just watch Abe for a couple minutes and then walk back to my piano ;-) ;-)
Gary can be a little harsh and too aggressive at times. I saw him with Mike Landau and he basically overplayed the whole gig.
Flawless perfection by all. This is what happens when you have a selfless musician of Rit's caliber who is also a such a nice guy that he tells people he would be honored if they would share the stage with him on his tour. He has always attracted the best in the business.
Nice to hear Lee playing some Straight-Ahead, for a change. Ernie Watts freaking burnin on 'Uptown'. He's got a great tone. Straight up in Coltrane Land around the 44 minute marker, w/ Novak swinging hard behind him. Now on second thought I must also say this - The late great Michael Brecker must have listened to Watts quite a bit too!
We lost Michael? Aw man, I didn't know. Too young. Ernie's still kicking though, but not sure if he's active.
Man Drummer is playing tight great concert
Everytime I watch this, about 50 times ? I think this is one of the best performances ever.
RIP Dave Valentin...... thanks for the memories
Lee Ritenour RULES!!!!!!! Right into my FULL CONCERTS playlist. Thank you :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
On my list too. Not only is the music great but so is audio quality (by youtube standards anyway). I've seen many recent videos that have garbage sound, this one stands out as the opposite.
O,maestro,lee,wouth,his,orxistra,plaenik,mpioudyfoul,sonks,❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I can't praise this enough. This is one of the greatest performances I've ever seen or heard. The incredible talent and musicianship on display here is absolutely next-level.
Gary is about 21 years old here ... and he swings like hell ... (that touch on the ride cymbal in 24th street blues 7:00 )
You have to have a great touch on the ride to swing hard and Mr. Novak has that and then some.
Top shelf all the way. What a magical combination of awesome musicians!
Abraham Laboriel, I love his bass touch
And here we are 3 decades later and he still has the magic touch, even better. despite his age (and expansive girth 😁). Laboriel is THE pioneer of funk and slap. It's not me who says it's Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten, and of course I agree with them. They should know.
@@kavemankarl2588 wow! Now there's something I didn't know about Abraham, and of course if Marcus and Wooten said it, I believe it too.
@@mwanikimburu You should have a look at his rendition of "The Chicken" ruclips.net/video/zwFRmt-xGqA/видео.html
And his bass dance!
love love love this music. nunca he visto un mùsico que se disfrute màs sus presentaciones que Abraham laboriel. y he tenido la dicha de verlo en persona en PR varias veces.
35:53, quite surprissing when he played some parts of Fourplay's Bali Run

I've loved Ernie's fat tone on tenor since the Stolen Moments CD.
Agreed. That's a great recording.
Laboriel, Valentin, Don Grusin, Ernie Watts ? oooohooooon WONDEERRRFULL
Abraham Laboriel Sr. and Gary Novack groove Celebration !!! Thiago from Brazil !!!
Great players....great playing. Thanks for sharing with us. BTW, does anybody think Keanu Reeves has a twin named Gary Novak?
I was all into Larry Carlton but when I watched these live concerts with Lee, i hate to admit it but Lee is way better than Larry, musically, stage presence, and chemistry wise with the rest of the band. My new Guitar Hero
That Bass solo.
(I was impressed with the last fill Gary Novak did on "Night Rhythms." That was a wow moment. Then like, everyone just plays so magnificently. It's all wow.)
Gary Novak’s time is sublime….. magic !
RIP Dave Valentin
Actually this whole lineup RULES!!!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!!!!
Oh, Abe Laboriel!!!!!!!

Abraham siempre armando el desmadre !!!! Monstruo del Bajo !!!
Sad there's no new music like this in the mainstream media anymore...
Mine's night rhythm & Rio Sol from: (1988) festival.
😂 I can't tell you how many times I hit the like 👍 button only to discover I'd already done so. I have watched this performance at least twenty times. Lee Ritenour really comes "out of his shell" at this point in his career. Previously, he was purely a Jazz artist but evolves into an all around phenomenon.
Ritenour's live performances are truly a highlight of any jazz enthusiast's playlist.
Bravo gentlemen. 👏 👏 👏 A spectacular performance by all involved.
Drummers : Who knows what RIDE cymbal Garry is using ?
K Custom Brilliant with no other branding very popular in the 90`s ,18" or 20" out of production .similar types available.
wooow I didn't know Jamie Dimon can play that well
i remembered watching tom and jerry 😝😝😁😁
1991, parece que fue ayer, el tiempo pasa volando
Great concert !
23:37 Don Grusin is so talented and handsome ❤🙌
Killer line up but Ernie Watts was on fire!
genialllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll laboriel leee wats....
what a line-up. Top of their game
I love Rio sol and Rio funk
Cameras were this clear back then 😮
With my very very special thanx to my you tube from the good old vienna 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Great performance!! I PLAY DRUMS AND THIS IS WHAT DRUMS SHOULD SOUND LIKE!!
Totalement étourdissant le solo de saxophone dans le morceau de jazz straight-ahead à la fin.
All music legends
Oh wow, when i decided to start collecting live jazz dvds - this was in my first five. The performance here is on 5th gear. I love the calmness of the artist, they are having fun and quite sure of what they are doing
Salute 👌👌🥂
Amazing Music and Performance from the whole Band. Real Musicians!!
Lee Ritenour.................can't go wrong here..............!
alguien en 2020 :V !!
I keep toggling the like button as I don't have much way to show my gratitude
6:37 ooops, ritenour.
Já vi tanto em DVD que perdi a conta!!
Just smiling seeing a younger Abe Laboriel enjoying his craft
👍ERNIE WATTS ON SAX!!!!!
really a awesome concert, listened to the bass player a lot before and lee ritenour is awesome, that drummers knows his timing and even the whistle guy, sax, and piano and keys was saucy too!
Anyone know the opening trumpet theme?
Muito bom, genial, espetacular, grande guitarrista...
Sem contar os outros músicos!
@@AllanDamk Ok...I won't mention the other musicians !!
Superb!
A young Gary Novak on drums.... just smokin'!!
Chama se Laboriel, Bahia minha Porra
Que show, Lee Ritenour e sua banda, entrosamento total
I love dancing guitar men in white suits 🤠 a bit Miami vice flair is not a mistake
A blessing for the soul, pure harmony and real experts. Especially in this day and age it is good to listen to music like this again.
Very good, I like to play the bass es very interesting
WTF 45:20????
Jazz much?
#raw_emotions
#perhaps_TOO_raw :D
This was OK, but I think the Toronto show was better
That's what I call a fusion drum sound.
S U P E R!!!
Le danze di Abraham Laboriel mentre suona gli assoli sono uniche al mondo
