If there are thieves out there scrolling through Google maps to find targets blurring your house will only draw attention to it. This advice is based on absolutely nothing. Even if you blur it out on street view, they’re still going to drive by your house if they actually wanted to rob you and they’d see A LOT more detail. You MIGHT stop their first step, but like I said, if they’ve already decided to rob you, this isn’t going to stop them or even slow them down. My neighbours daughter blurred out her mums house years ago and she’s been burgled twice since then, so it had absolutely no effect.

@@stoneneils or… a blurred house just means someone is really worried about being robbed, which means they probably don’t have any other security or aren’t confident in their security. At the very least it’ll encourage some burglars to scope out the scene for themselves, and if they show up to the house IRL and it looks like an easy job they’re definitely gonna try it if they can tell that that person has something to hide. Blurring your house is basically a sign that you’re scared of being robbed, and the people who are the most scared are the ones with a lot to steal and no good way to protect it. People robbed houses long before google maps was a thing, a blurred house might deter a few novice burglars but it won’t stop the more serious ones who can do their own scoping out of a house.
