Thank you for this! I am migrating from VEGAS Pro, which I've used for over a decade. Kdenlive had pretty much all I need and more, without the crashing I was so used to with VEGAS.
Hello, Victoriano, Retired U.S. Army Welding Instructor here. Outstanding tutorial! Excellent speaking voice! Exactly what I needed to get up and running. Thank you so much for making this video. Gotta love open source!
I'm 72-y.o. guy who has dabbled with making videos for years, using apps like Camtasia Studio, Adobe Elements Premiere, Wevideo, and more recently, Shotcut, which dissatisfied me. So, I decided to try Kdenlive, and I found your tutorial. You did a great job explaining the editing process in just a bit over half-an-hour. You are obviously an expert on the program and able to teach how to use it (not all experts can teach). You are concise while thorough. Kudos! Using what you taught me, I easily made a new , short video for RUclips today.
Awesome video. Well thought out and presented. Something I don’t think I’ve seen in other programs is the “add zone to bin” having a hierarchy or clips under a video is amazing
Fantastic tutorial !!! You've made a perfectly paced presentation that lays out the basics so logically and simply. This should be a template for other tutorial creators and has been my favorite kdenlive tutorial so far, by a long shot. So it appears in many ways that kdenlive is like a Davinci Resolve Lite, but is still more powerful than I'm likely to ever need, and I love that it has the same UI, same workflow, even same keyboard shortcuts, as the pro software.
Thank you, Victoriano! This is an exceptional tutorial. I am pretty new to Kdenlive, and like it a lot. I've Liked and Subscribed, and plan on watching other Kdenlive tutorials you have.
Great walkthrough, covered 80% of all the work flow most people will need to perform to edit and create their video. Well done and love the pace of the video.
This is excellent and helped me a lot in deciding to switch to using kdenlive. It answered a lot of questions and will help me as I transition from Openshot. I did not know about teh free music on RUclips so that was a bonus. Again, thank you for this excellent tutorial.
Up and running, thank you! Also, thanks for the tip to use the "zone in" and "zone out" in the Clip Monitor and then drag down to timeline. All your instructions were clear and useful and I just finished my first video thanks to this tutorial. I look forward to doing the rest!
Vic should be the main tutor teacher for all videos on RUclips. I subscribed to your channel which is rare because I have subscribed to only five people in the fifteen years I've had several channels on RUclips. But, perfection is perfection. Good going man !!
Very, very helpful. Almost every time I seek out instructions I find that knowledge I don't have has been assumed. This makes it very frustrating. In your video you really assumed that I knew nothing and walked me through everything I need to know to get started. I've subscribed and expect you'll be giving me a lot more help. Thank you!
Thank you very much for this useful video. As a former Final Cut Pro Editor it is nice to find there are many useful shortcuts that enable me to edit with speed using Kdenlive!
@@victorianodejesus I no longer have access to the Co-op's edit suite. I can't afford a high end Mac, OR Final Cut Pro. I'm into my second week using Kdenlive, and starting to get better at using it. I am irritated by not being able to do a crossfade between two clips on the same track. I'm also having some trouble with nesting sequences. But I find your tutorials a Godsend! Thank you!
@@jasondrummond9451 To do a cross fade between clips on the same track, put the clips next to each other and double click in the middle of them. It should give you a cross fade.
One of the best tutorials I have ever seen. Really. And I used to do tech support myself. I have been trying to learn the basics of kdenlive for a few weeks now, and this has covered so much of what I needed to know, in a concise, straight-forward way. I am in awe. I may have to watch it many times, since it is like drinking from a fire hydrant. Plenty of water there, Mr. de Jesus. Thank you! Looking forward to watching your other videos!
I want to say a big thank you. I downloaded Kdenlive as I wanted video editing software but to be honest did not want to pay pay for it. I just watched this, the first of your tutorials and you are very clear and concise in your instructions. Thanks so much.
I really do want to express my appreciation for this tutorial, serioulsy, thank you, i think i will give content creating a go. You explained the basics to a degree that I am inspired to try myself. God Bless
Great tutorial. I installed kdenlive yesterday as the editing tool I've been using couldn't handle the recordings I made with multiple audio channels in the same file, and while I figured out how to get kdenlive to handle that, there were still a lot more I needed to find out. This tutorial answered almost all of the questions I had.
Cheers for this tutorial, it showed the basics I just needed to create a short video with a couple clips with transitions and an audio track (the suggestion of using royalty free audio from RUclips was brilliant!)
Wonderfully explained! KDEnlive looks intimidating because most users do not read the manual, and just dive in. Every video editor has a different workflow, and therefore their interface also differs. When a user comes from a different video editor, the shift in the workflow confuses him. So your tutorial was instrumental in explain why we should do things in a certain way! BTW, this video is almost a year old! I hope you'd publish more episodes on advanced editing! Please keep up the good work! 👍
The "razor tool" is what video editor editors call their snipping/cutting tool. Scissors is a term used in relation to cutting and pasting. Premiere and DaVinci Resolve use an icon that looks like a razor (and most other video editors).
Very helpful! I was on the verge of giving up on using the application - then I watched your great tutorial and have just completed my first successful edit with the application! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!
The best tutorial I have watched on Kdenlive. I might switch from PowerDirector. I do a lot of voice over so that is seldom covered in tutorials. Tried DaVinci Resolve and just a bit too complicated...although powerful program.
Enjoyed your tutorial. A shorter way to to get full clips instead of the in/out selection is to just drag it directly form the project bin and it's there.
Great tutorial! Thanks! I learn this type of information best by watching others and the material covered and the pacing was excellent. I love that you showed a simple video editing project from start to finish with all of the elements that a novice would want to use. I watched the video once for the overall understanding and then watched it again a chapter at a time as I did all of the same steps to learn Kdenlive while editing my video.
I had to translate this comment to English just to say thank you. this is a really great video and i tried every part of it and it works fine, except on "remove video thumbnails, i didn't find that setting. but that's not what i need so far

Great. Thank you! Why change the fps to 24 instead of leaving it at 25?
Changing the project FPS was just an example in this video. Normally in my own projects, I will match the project fps to the footage fps used.
