Can we get a review of these last 2 dives of mikes? Maybe a celebrity guest the legendary man himself mike young can do some commentary on what was going threw is head during this whole dive!?!
Yea he dont use lead weights because of his steel. Mike is awesome and ld only feel safe if he was in the water with me. Obviously im no diver. But if you with Mike.....you never need Edd Sorensons help. The black n chrome angel. Mike Young needs a badass nik name.
I'm just discovering your channel and I love how peaceful your videos make me feel while watching them. I just can't get over how amazing the caves are, I can't explore them myself so your videos are the next best thing!! Thank you for sharing these with us ❤
I've always wondered what was down there since I was a kid. If I didn't have people depending on me I'd probably try to get into it. I used to belong to the Boston Mountain Grotto caving group and I'm pretty sure I met you, Mike, about 15 years ago. Thanks for giving me a look at what I'd never get to see otherwise. That is one impressive spring!
@@mikeyoung8968 That's awesome! After watching your videos and procedures I know this is something I'd be comfortable doing. I've been wondering if this is something I could reasonably expect to ever be able to break into? Like how many years and roughly how many thousands of dollars? Or is it still possible to make a lucrative career out of open water diving? I'm familiar with fully encapsulated Hazmat work since I've done ammonia refrigeration for the past 10 years. I know it's not the same but it shares a lot of the same redundancy in procedures. Well, thanks for your replies and I hope I get to sit down and talk to you again sometime. I'm watching every video clip you upload and looking forward to the next one.
You must have had a pretty amazing life. Exploring it to its fullest. Another great adventure. 🤩🥰 Thank you. Its surprising to me that you don't see more marine life in these caves. You'd think it would be a nice protected spot to live for fish 🐟 🤔.
Appreciate you taking us along Mike. I've got a genuine fear of water stemming from a scare with an undertow when I was young. There's no way I'd be able to put on full scuba gear and go under without a panic attack. This is a close second.
I tried a wetsuit in a triathlon and i felt like it was squeezing my chest and had to reassure myself the whole swim that just keep swimming like i know how to do and I'll be fine. I'm pretty sure if just a few little things went wrong I'd panic in a cave.
I used to be the same way. I had my head held underwater when I was a kid. I did my OW certification this year. It was terrifying and fascinating all at once. If I could over come my fear I’m sure you can too. Give it a try!
I am always happy and comfy and dry when I watch these terrifying videos of yours Mr. Young. Thank you for your courage (I wouldn't ever dare to do this! )
Be safe Mike. As a DM, AI, I have never done anything as intense. All open water for me. Confined spaces is not for me but I am constantly drawn to watch your videos. Best of luck. Sucess.
Why is that line so loose? Diving sure looks like fun but living in Michigan the water never warms up so we bought a boat and started a small charter fishing company.. Stay safe down there.
That was a spool of line on a previous dive we ran down to about 445’ and just left the spool ready for a return dive. It is now at 472’ waiting for us to return and take it farther!!!
I love your videos. I've watched hours of them at this point. They are truly amazing. Have you thought about adding narration to the videos? With just a little narration you would get a lot more views. Let's be real some people will never watch them because they can be claustrophobia inducing. I think more casual viewers would watch with you explaining what you're doing. Of course you may not even care about that. 😁 I'd love to see your channel blow up. That would even give you more incentive to post more of these amazing videos.
I just have one question Mr Mike Young, how exactly do you keep your massive 25 lb brass balls out of the way while you walk?? You're one brave (and smart) fella.. God bless you
This is amazing. But as someone who's only dived to 30 feet, I have so many questions. Do you plan on spending more time at that extreme depth? Or is it always going to be a down and up sorta thing?
Every minute spent at depth seriously increases decompression time. Any (good) plan for that depth also accommodates for hiccups that increase deco time. You definitely can spend much more time at depth if you really wanted to. But, if you plan on extending bottom time you are going to need more supplies. (More gas, drinkable water, batteries for the suit heater, etc) More supplies means more logistics and money. I remember watching an incredibly deep dive in the Pearce Resurgence and those divers had a custom modified double rebreather.
Awesome video and congrats!!! Just curious a lil after 26 mins was what sounded like a couple big gulps and bubbles, didnt hear it any other time was just wondering what it was? I think it was just after the restriction. Keep up the great content and be safe!!!
Hey Mike quick question why didn’t your buddy pick up one of the 350 stage tanks on the descent? Cool video I like the long form raw footage. I bet y’all racked up a lot of Deco on that dive.
@@mikeyoung8968 😂 you're one of the greatest of all time at your art. Anything you have to say people will listen. I'd just describe whats happening in the video instead of the subtitles you put. How much weight can those lines hold?
Lets say you put a weight on them.
They can hold a lot of weight!!
Mike, some advice, explain what's up with an intro or explain what's going on, what record, in the description. I'm starting off lost. What record?
Depth, distance, what record?
National record for depth at this particular location btw
Roaring River is now the deepest cave in the USA
How heavy are those tanks? They look quite heavy.
In the water they don’t weigh much at all
Curious and it’s funny that I’ve never thought to ask - what do you do during 2 hours of deco? Just float around and relax?
Yea that’s what we did. Or play cards. Now we can take our phones with a downloaded movie to watch 🤣

As we come up the rebreather loop volume increases as the pressure reduces. We bent that out our nose or mouth. It bubbles up past the camera.
Are your lights actually purple i don't think I have seen lights like that but I'm a non cave diver so maybe that's why
No sir they are white. Sometimes the water or the camera will distort them
Hey Mike quick question why didn’t your buddy pick up one of the 350 stage tanks on the descent?
Cool video I like the long form raw footage. I bet y’all racked up a lot of Deco on that dive.
We had enough gas with us to make it out. But not the best gas blends. So we staged a bottle at 250’ and one at 350’ for “best” mixes for deco.
How long was the deco?
About 3 hours
