I can tell you we live on wild game deer, turkey ,squirrel. And bear. I've taken moose and caribou with my 94 30-30 also. And what's very nice. It's amazing accurate with home made hard cast lead. 180 grn. Those loads have went completely through a Alaskan bull moose and black bears.

Never, repeat never, underestimate the .30-30. Thanks for watching. We're working on another homesteading video, hopefully you've subscribed so you won't miss it. Cheers.

30-‘06 is mostly a .308 magnum. Both are fine weapons.

Pretty good list. Your choice of shotgun makes a lot of sense for a game gun and isn't totally useless for defense if you practice with it. Something to keep in mind is caliber restrictions in some states. Though the 308W is not as capable with heavy bullets as the 30-06 it is almost as good and there is a lot to be said for ammo availability. The 22 is something everyone should have. I am a lever action kind of guy (22 and centerfire) but cost wise the semi makes a lot of sense.
Of course one should also consider handguns as they are the always with you option.

Great video... hey you sound a bit like Biden scary lol.. but great list .. love doubles use them on my northern Ontario homestead... I use a 3006 in a Winchester model 70 ( pre-67) works a bit better with heavier bullets great for moose bear and deer... I use a 357 leaver rifle in place of a 22lr...
