Enregistrements "habités" qui montrent à quel point le V.U était -déjà-à des années lumière des autres grands groupes de l'époque!! transe " Soufie", virtuosité rythmique ,qui ouvrent la voie à tout le rock des décennies suivantes!!
Gentlemen, this is pure as the driven snow, we have achieved lift off
We're all here cos we love this tune to death and could listen to different versions for much of the night I'd imagine...thanks for indulging us Robert.
You're welcome!!!
I’ve been obsessed with all versions of this song. I thought I was the only one
@@willowufgood261 Well, we're at least two!!! ❤
The second version starts at 6:00, the third starts at 17:45, and the fourth starts at 24:10. Only the first two have guitar solos. The second one is the most psychedelic and the third one sounds like an early form of electronic music.
Thanks for sharing. My favourite version is the 1969 Live one (the last in this group) as it's such a virtuoso performance and seems like it could go on for ever with the two rhythm guitars subtly changing their styles and dominance while the organ weaves a magical spell and the utterly dependable Mo bashes out a drumbeat for the ages that holds the whole astonishing performance together... the studio version on the eponymous album is worth a listen too although Sterling's guitar is much more prominent in this version (though his hollow-back, reverbed downtuned guitar sounds incredible)...
I love the fact that somebody loves this song as much as I do.
Paying special heed to the last version, while the dual guitar playing is great, special mention should go to Doug's organ playing which really elevates this version.
The brilliance of this track is the the beautiful outro which seemingly could go on forever, and I wish it would.
Yes! Thats right! And i wish it, too!
man that keyboards on the hilltop version is beyond cool!
Happy Birthday, Zoltan John Tar!

Spirit lifting and life affirming!
I'm a little late to this party, but hot damn, those are some high energy jams. Love it.
My favorite song ever..EVER! Thank you so much!
Ce ta doido! Lá no subterrâneo existe coisas tão incríveis que até a via láctea inclina o seu ouvido.
The power of the Velvet Underground tone and sound came from the violin drone of Tony Conrad who initiated John Cale while both were in Lamonte Youngs Theater of Eternal Music just before the VU were formed. Lou could never find that sound after he became famous. Tony Conrad had it all his life.
That and the drums- Reed himself said he could never find another drummer willing to play like Moe Tucker
Pure power
Forget Cale. This is Doug Yule era and he’s a monster
I'd have to say this is Ringo's best work. Well, maybe the other two guys also.

totally different song.
Delete this, don't embarrass yourself, please

@@jimmetesky6019 well
Beatle diehards are so tragic and uncool. It's more to do with the safety of the stats when it comes to record sales than aesthetic discernment - populism. I mean, even if the velvets didn't exist, youv'e got early stones to fall back on.
❤ WOW
The last version here is definately the best out of the four versions.
That one is from the "official" Live 1969 album
Yes! A tour de force of rhythm guitar playing.
This has the most fantastic rhythm guitar /organ duet ever.
we had a dream about what we grew up to - it made us fly - some ini`guys needed a war to earn money so our dream turned kold shower - now i´m ini´d - it did´nt help me being happy...............*
why is Lennon McCartney and Ringo listed as the writers for the Cole Ave version?
True!!!! I can't understand how Lennon and Mc Cartney are mentioned!!!!
it's bullshit!!!!
Bullshit. The Beatles "What goes on" is completely different from VU's "What goes on". These are different songs, cover versions
@@bogotario Sure. It's not at all the same song, only same title!
@@bogotario you are quite right sir...2 completely different songs different lyrics different music different everything
Para mi la mejor es la segunda
in tutte le salse...ok!!!!
