Thanks for this great information! I’m using mine for connecting to projector and using my S1 pro Bluetooth external audio however audio isn’t splitting. Is there something you can recommend please. I’ve definitely connected Bluetooth from iPad to S1 pro! Scratching my head what I could have done wrong
Connecting a standard wireless QWERTY keyboard and mouse to my iPad transformed my workflow. From “spacebar” to stop and start transport, to all the other keyboard shortcuts (e.g. “X” to show the mixer in Logic), this made all the difference in terms of iOS music making and usability. And I have you to thank for that from a video you did a while ago. Thank you Pete!
@@PeteJohnsMusic Still a few niggles - I wish it was possible to customise keyboard shortcuts, as it is in many desktop DAWs. To open the Browser, it’s ‘Y’ - er, why? ‘B’ makes more sense to me. And to show plugins, it’s ’B’ …again, doesn’t seem intuitive. Also, it is hit and miss if the spacebar works for transport if a third party plugin is open. But overall, it’s very positive.
I got a similar hub with a longer cord, and it CAN be powered with a USB-c on the end slot or not. Works great with both my iPad and iPhone and Macbook!
I've been using the exact same kind of USB adapter for my iPad, from a different company, for about a year. They're a great way to beef up your iPad production. 👍🏽👍🏽
Possibly. I own a heap of these already. Anker are super reliable so I’m sure it would work. Feel free to email me the link and I can let you know. Most functions will work except for things like multi-display.
This adapter seems to support only 4K 30Hz video over HDMI. The iPad Pro M1, M2 and M4 are capable of 4K 60Hz HDR if the adapter supports it. The original Apple adapter outputs 4K 60Hz but no HDR. I use a Satechi adaper which is a bit similar style than this, but it has also SD and micro SD card readers (and only 2 USB-A-ports), but the HDMI outputs 4K 60Hz HDR to my Samsung 4K HDR miniled-monitor, with the extend screen option. Usually I have my digital multi-ch mixer (Zoom L-20) and either a USB midi keyboard controller or my separate multiport midi hub in the usb-a ports.
Hi Pete I want to connect my M-Audio 32 midi keyboard to ipad and make some music. I have a scarlett 2i2 interface. Will this usb hub work alone for it? Or i need to purchase apple usb hub? Thanks in advance
If you have an iPad with USB-C this is generally all you need for standard audio interfaces and MIDI keyboards as it has power pass-through. studiolivetoday.com/gear
Will this work with a 10 gen iPad? I have success with connecting my 10th generation iPad to my iRig for guitar via the ugreen usb-c to 3.5 mmm adaptor with power supply. I have tried connecting my Korg micro keyboard with an official apple usb- a to USB-C adapter with no success. I am suspecting I need that power adapter element.
I'm trying to find something like this but I need two USB C ports. One for charging/power and one to plug in my piano keyboard to use with piano marvel and programs like that. I cant seem to find one. They all seem to have only one USB C port.
Yeah you’re right. I would just get an adapter or cable back to USB. Most USB-C gear is backwards compatible and doesn’t really use the speed or power of USB-C.
No headphone adapter........ My iPad doesn't have a headphone input so I need a dongle that does all this + has a headphone input. Is there a dongle that does all of this?
There is, however the quality of the audio output on those is pretty poor. Here’s my review of one of these. ruclips.net/video/WprzVbqzGsQ/видео.htmlsi=44K00aWW6xEWNTg7

Not sure sorry. Not my area of expertise.

Awesome stuff Bill! I really need to learn all the Logic keyboard shortcuts.

Thanks Pete. Just got an iPad Air and bought this to connect to my interface. What would we do without you?
Cheers Chris. Super glad to help out.
Absolute the best HUB!!

Nice one! Yes, we are so lucky that these things work so well these days and there are many options.
Hey @isaac.anthony which hub did you purchase?

Totally. And yes, they have very similar ones re-branded by different companies.
Awesome video Pete !! I use adapters with my macbook {e.g. usbs , ext.hard drives} also ...
Yup. We Apple folk live the dongle life!
Could you review the Anker 551 USB-C Hub? I'm interested in getting it and trust your reviews.

How would I connect wired headphones to this setup? (i don’t have an interface). Thnx
Interface is your best bet. There are some adapters that have headphone jacks too.

Nice one. Yes, good point! If refresh rate it’s important to you a 60Hz compatible adapter is definitely a good idea.

Hey there. Yup, you'll need a USB-C power supply to connect to the USB-C power pass-through and then it should provide enough power.
Thank you very much. Enjoy your posts. Just discovered them.
Just got my ugreen USB-C multifunction adapter. Works great for hooking up midi keyboard. Thanks again.

Is your interface bus powered or powered?
Bus powered. It's connected and powered via the single USB-C to USB-A cable plugged in to the adapter.
@@PeteJohnsMusic my ur44c will not run bus powered from my M2 iPad Pro when plugged in a hub like yours
@@brandoncrenshaw Yeah, the 44s tend to need their own standalone power as they use more juice.
Thank you

Hey pete did you noticed any latency with everything hooked up to it.
Very little. The MIDI keyboard had a small amount when unpowered, but with power pass-through it all worked well.
