- Wildlife charities have claimed the British countryside is a “racist colonial” white space.
Wildlife and Countryside Link, a charity umbrella group whose members include the RSPCA, WWF and National Trust, made the claim in evidence provided to Parliament on racism and its influence on the natural world.
MPs in an all-party parliamentary group (APPG) were informed that the British countryside has been influenced by “racist colonial legacies” which have created an environment some fear is “dominated by white people”.
The country’s green spaces are governed by “white British cultural values”, the report argues, and the perception that the countryside is a “white space” prevents people from other ethnic backgrounds from enjoying the outdoors.
TalkTV's Julia Hartley-Brewer is joined by Rafe Heydal-Mankoo, historian and senior fellow at The New Culture Forum, to discuss the report.

The most racist people are the ones who keep harping on about it and when they use it as a slur against people it is now akin to calling them a jerk. I will keep enjoying the countryside as it is the best place to escape this craziness and regroup. I supose they won't be happy till they have made it into a desert to make it more welcoming to those who have arrived on our shores from hot arid places.

It's not multiculturalism, it's an attempt ethnic cleansing. I cringe every time the words "White space" are used. And "White colonialism." How can it be colonialism? They are talking about British countryside with British people in it. It's the ever growing population of migrants that do not wish to integrate with the British way of life, and British culture that are now the colonisers. To them and the wokeists that invite them in, multiculturalism means any culture except for traditional British culture and values.

It's got now't to do with racism. We who live in rural areas dislike any idiot who can't follow the counrtyside code.
Leaving litter, leaving gates open, parking and camping in fields, blocking access to locals, complaining that rural shops don't stock what they can get in cities, and worst of all, not saying hello or just nodding in recognition to show your friendly.

I am an immigrant Brit who now works abroad but visits the UK every 6 months.
I love the countryside and nature. I hike, cycle, and jog in the numerous beautiful parks around my city during my stay, and I love it! Most of my co-hikers are natives. I wish them and almost all of them wish me back, or many would wish me first!
BTW, to be able to do all that, it's only I who can motivate myself to kick myself out of bed and enjoy the time with nature, and nobody is stopping me from doing that! Sometimes, I feel privileged to be able to enjoy Britain's nature and countryside, which very few other countries offer!
But where are the British people complaining about the racism in inner-city London, Birmingham, Manchester?
I live in Cumbria and I can honestly say it's better than the last time I went to London where I never met anyone who appeared English.

Some while ago I came across a you tube video, hosted by a black lady who was answering questions from black people regarding the best placers to move to. They were cautioned if a location was too white and some locations were recommended because they expected more diversity in the future. Racist?

Lots of Japanese people go to the Lake District because they've learnt English in school by reading Beatrix Potter books, so want to visit where she lived.
That's nice. I look forward to when I can travel to Japan and see some of their culture.
I had a drink in the pub facing her house and I did see many Japanese people stop to take photos also.
At first I thought what is going on and didn't realize until I read the small plaque on the wall explaining it was where she lived and wrote the books.
I'm English and felt slightly ashamed I didn't know yet these had flown thousands of miles just to see it.
I thought that was charming though the way they love English literature to do such a thing.

If you want a prime example of racism in the countryside - go to Wales as an English person, you will get a hearty dose 1st hand (only available in some areas)
And if you want some racism closer to home just go to local city and the Muslims will tell you England is now theirs and to get out they come first

Amen to that. We had a holiday home in N. Wales and spent our entire school holidays there, spending money in the local shops, restaurants, tourist attractions for years and years. We all knew that when you went into a shop and they realised you were English they immediately started speaking Welsh and the prices of goods for the English were double that the local Welsh bought it at. The locals were so hostile that we created our own English ghetto and declined to spend anything more than we had to in local shops always bringing enough food and supplies with us from England and sometimes even travelling to a big town in England to get supplies.

My parents moved to Wales when I was 14 and I have never experienced such blatant racism anywhere else in the world. I failed exams, not because of academic faults, but because the supervisor said 'You are not Welsh, are you?"
In a region where less than 1% spoke Welsh, I had my Welsh History exams discounted by 30% because I answered in English. School was conducted entirely in Welsh every Friday. It was hell.
By comparison, my West Indian, Indian and African foster brothers and sisters were treated like royalty (my parents ran a children's home).
They're just cant leave "white" English ppl alone, it's a person's home in many cases! but hey will tell them ppl to not go out for a walk,well if you are white anyways, some sad ppl, have way to much time on their hands.

To anyone who might misunderstand, I don't mean returning to Britain's sins. I simply yearn for a well-mannered, unbelievably beautiful, wholesome, and proud country that was unlike any other.
I’m Malaysian Muslim and I support this for Britain; European in general. Let the Europeans have their ethnic stories backgrounds for themselves, their history, culture. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that; it is after all Europe anyways. People seem to think by taking the steps above means being mean to others who aren’t European origin. That’s the problem with these “NGOs” and minorities. I’ve been to Britain thrice, everytime I go there I found out that when I visited the English country side, the people are way friendlier and it takes me into this feeling of being in the movies with all those English cliches but the only thing is, is reality ☺️
But the places that are full of people calling the countryside “racist” somehow have the highest crime rates, strange that isn’t it 🤔

Walking my cat (a Bengal) in the countryside yesterday, I met a Sikh, we exchanged a few pleasantries about the cat then went on our way, enjoying the English countryside

The report is saying because the countryside is predominantly inhabited by "typically English White folk" (Who have likely lived there for generations upon generations) it is "upholding old colonial racist views" within those community's, because there are little to no "Ethnic Minority People" living there.Therefore, (reading between the lines) give the ethnic Minority groups a good amount the these homes and villages in the country side for free, so that they are no longer "Colonial White racist enclaves" (as they see it). In other words it's a call for a "Land Grab" of area's that cannot be easily forced to be "diverse" due to the literal cost of buying or renting a home in these area's.
So the native English in the countryside are basically the Palestinians trying to keep their lands personally, while the so called “ethnic minority” that uses this racist talking points are indirectly, equal to Zionist trying to “land grab”

85% of the people in Britain are white. The vast majority of immigrants tend to gather together in asian, middle eastern, black, chinese only areas in cities. Thus the majority of people in rural areas are white. Who exactly is preventing anyone from getting to the countryside and taking a walk. NO ONE. I live in a very rural village. The vast majority of people in it are white, very friendly and welcoming. However we have 3 indian families in the village and despite our best efforts they refuse to integrate, refuse to attend any clubs or events and only mix with each other. When you walk down the road 99% of the white people smile and say good morning, to total strangers. Not the Indian families. They totally ignore you and refuse to speak to you. Who are the racists?

After the last few years of hearing the incessant racism claims from the same brigade of people I now see nothing other than the colour of a person’s skin - and I AVOID AT ALL COSTS THOSE OF ANOTHER HUE TO MY SKIN…I literally have nothing to say to those of another colour and will no longer shop at certain stores…I couldn’t care less what anyone thinks.
That’s why there are youth hostels , camp sites, B&B’s, outward bound organisations and mountain buses in the Lake District and various parts of the U.K. etc to help everyone who can’t afford expensive hotels to be able to enjoy the countryside of all races and ages. We walked the Lakes as a family from when my children were toddlers and I have grandchildren and great grandchildren who settled there. We have met people of many races enjoying the countryside for years - this is a load of absolute rubbish!
The idea of going for a 'walk', for any reason other than to get something , is considered strange by most people. I had partners from Bajian, Bengali and Thai backgrounds. They all had to be bribed to go for a walk 'for no reason'. We experienced no racism once we got moving.
I don't want a load of London kids messing up the countryside. Also people are friendly and say hello. All very pleasent.

Ask black people how many of them want to live or work in the countryside, and none of them will want to, and it has nothing to do with race they just aren't interested. Ask a group of young people if they want to work in the country on a farm etc and they don't, and black people are less likely to want to.

@HmsRoyalNavy I grew up in a small rural farming community and my family would go in to towns looking for people to work on the farm, providing them accommodation and food as well as pay them, never once did anyone who was a person of any colour came to do the work.
But I do agree it's the left driving ever more division, which seems to be it's sole reason for existing now, which has only a negative impact on society.
Working in the countryside usually involves hard graft, something the ethics are allergic to.

Its called planting, obviously city's are fit to burst the only way they can expand is outward and upward. Obviously people coming to the island need to go somewhere, when the muslim council is in place, in summer 2024 with an actual plan and financial backing putting the Muslim front and center within the country in England Ireland Scotland and wales then the government will have more access to funds and investments from the middle east to help build, housing businesses and new communities out with city bounderies.

You know what I see in the countryside? My ancestors, and hard working people. Maybe that’s anathema to those who are complaining. I believe I’m right.
Obsessed by all the wrong things
Only a certain section are obsessed with race -- and we all know what section that is.
I watercolour paint outdoors in the countryside and often get approached by people of colour to talk about the environment and my painting. None of those people expressed any concerns about feeling uncomfortable to be outdoors and seemed to be enjoying themselves. It is the usual comments from the National Trust, WWF and the RSPCA who in my opinion fuel racism rather than unite people. Let people do what they want to do, stop trying to social engineer. I agree with Raphe, most of those I encounter are of South Asian or Chinese heritage, but I have met groups of people on day trips who are from the Middle East.
Would the solution here be turning the countryside into a nation wide 💩 🕳️ like London & Birmingham?
