I remember when I was being trained for the goalie position, my coach told me " if you can't stop the ball with your hands or arms you always have your head and face." The average speed for a thrown ball from the overhand motion (same movement as a baseball pitcher) is 48 mph or 77 kph.
I've found that an eggbeater kick, with one leg going clockwise & the other counterclockwise works best for treading water when you're not using your hands. But I don't play Water Polo. Part of the reason I took up swimming (aside from the fact that in the water is the only place to be in a Texas summer) is do I could be in a sport that didn't revolve around a da** BALL. I can't catch, throw or hit one of the stupid things.

I played water polo for four years in high school and I've done the whole celebrating after a goal. Luckily I made it from really close to half court so I didn't have to reset that much. Also really true that it doesn't matter what size you are you just have to have endurance, know how to tread water and cover your man or woman. Also yeah a lot of the time people have extremely tight suits so the opponent cant pull you down. I dont know how different the suit grabbing for guys is though.

One of the tricks people do is they get opener from a soda can, snap it partially to make a sharp hook, stuff it in our speedos, and when we splash, pull it out and slice the player. My back looked like Wolverine went at me after my first game. Even got a picture for the yearbook of it

I played polo, and your bulk actually makes you easier to dominate in the pool, you don't have as much movement and you are slower....#5 is very true....as for getting hit with the ball....don't play goalie...

It's a smaller suit. It's more important in set because the set defense can front you by grabbing your suit.
