    Ripping the doors off the hinges at the ANU to be a part of the gig, is everything Nirvana stood for. That would have been an extremely memorable moment for the band. Having performed on stage, I can just imagine a surge of people flowing in from the side doors at the ANU. Ahh if only I was old enough at the time. I was a young guitarist listening to the band, even at 9. Older cousins :)

      A lot of Australian venues didn't even sell tickets or bother opening any of their doors when international bands were booked to play 'cause we'd all just smash our way in to shows down here back then Different times

    The best part about this is that it was an Australian TV clip where the words "Barney ties me to the chair. I can't see, I'm really scared. He breathes hard, I hear a zip. Pee pee pressed against my lips." were aired. On television. For millions to hear.

      +agurobe I saw them play the Hordern at the very first BDO..it was sweltering hot inside the venue..everybody who was anybody in the Sydney music scene was there..I remember Courtney making a lot of noise, making sure she wasn't missed.. and she had green hair .Nevermind was edging into the charts in Australia,(they weren't the biggest band in the world, yet), though there was major word of mouth on the street..they had played the night before at the now defunct Phoenician Club..(Anna Wood anyone?) and by all accounts had ripped Sydney a new one... the second show was announced after the band canceled their west oz shows- I guess to makeup for lost income-..it was at the Coogee Bay Hotel and the room wasn't even half full..

The last six months I have covered my feelings or tried to fill the void by watching RUclips videos of bands who feel angry or frustrated so I don't feel alone. Because I feel alone in my anger and frustration over our administration. Can anyone relate to my feelings?

    Actually ... they were a very lame band at the end of grunge, not the start of grunge. There was 5 great years of underground Grunge in Melbourne, and then Nirvana came along and sent grunge to the pop sphere and killed it completely. I still remember listening to the simulcast of them playing at the Palace in Melbourne in 1992 and thinking ... 'uh oh, here goes our whole scene'. And off it went.

    • @missgirl6439

      Soundgarden was signed way before Nirvana was. Plus there was Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains who were also popular at the time. Grunge was becoming popular period. Stop being such a fucking hipster about it. Lol

    • @jasontempmac
      @jasontempmac 9 лет назад

      Valeria Ledesma Alice in Chains were way later on the scene, and were so very average, I count them at the end as well. Soundgarden were awesome in their early days. I don't even include Pearl Jam as they were (and are) so lame. Sub Pop was where grunge was at in the late eighties early 90s, I was there from the beginning to the end and Nirvana were the lame ducks we all blamed for diluting the scene altogether. Only thing more lame than Nirvana are the Foo Fighters, what a waste of time they are. If you were there in the day you would know what I mean. Ain't no hipster in me that's for sure, never will be. Especially if you mean today's 'hipster', which isn't a real hipster anyway, they just borrowed the word :)
