Shaye Cohn is a players player, period. No pretense, no attempts to gain clout, always playing AND can play anything! Super talented lady. Truly one of my all time favorite players ever!
It’s so great to see and hear Shaye with her dad ,who I went to college with , and my dad Marky Markowitz worked with her granddad Al in woody Herman’s band and I love that she has chosen to play cornet ,rather than trumpet.
Some cats got it and some cats ain't. Shaye Cohn's got it in spades. She's a master of every instrument she plays, from piano to cornet to trumpet. To discover that Al Cohn is her grandfather is just too wonderful. I discovered the wonders of jazz a few years ago,(ahem) by going to the Five Spot when it was on Spring Street in Manhattan and seeing the Al Cohn-Zoot Sims Big Band and others like Gerry Mulligan, Phil Woods, Cannonball Adderly and his brother Nat. Ok, I'll stop. If Shaye reads this: you and your band are providing this sad world with so much needed happiness. Thank you.
Dad and daughter, so gifted, talented....this has got to be an ordinary gig to them, and amazing to the rest of us. Music is totally dominant in their genetics. I didn't know Shaye could play like this, totally different from traditional jazz of Tuba Skinny... Wow! This has got to be a special day for them.
An over used word, but well deserved by Shaye - Amazing. Her talents leave one just shaking your head in disbelief at such ability. Just need to see her with the New York Phil......
So great Shaye with her dad playing together. Shaye sounds so beautiful. Even in another genre of music she usually play on the cornet with Tuba Skinny.
Hello Joe, Don't know if you remember me from Berklee. You played with my Big Band a little. Chuck Weidman. It's nice to see you still sound so sweet. It's also great to see the Cohen musical talent continues with your daughter. My daughter sings and grandson is following in my drumming footsteps. Hit me up if you have the time.
I want to thank Mr. Cohn, and his wife, for bringing into this world that great and beautiful, multi-talented daughter. She is a gift to New Orleans Jazz, bringing the nuance displayed by this modern jazz outfit right into the heart of the N'awlins sound. And her artwork on the Tuba Skinny albums makes me believe she may also be the Roger Federer of Jazz Art (if there is such a thing).
Her granddad was the great Al Cohn. Regrettably, he died when Shaye was quite young. I was lucky to hear him in a small club in San Francisco, along with Stan Getz and other luminaries.
@@florisv559 This is from a gig billed as Tamar Korn and Friends. I have six videos of this set, on five of which Tamar sings. Why don't you view them on my You Tube page and take a chill pill. ruclips.net/channel/UC8746-TBSv3dFO0VgEqzXYQ

Hey Joe
A legacy carefully carried through generations, shaye has made the forefathers proud

Quality Jazz music runs in the family! Great folks to have around!
@@bobboscarato1313 Amen!
Nice seeing/hearing dad and daughter playing together. As always, they sound real and wonderful. Zaid sounds great, too.
Absolute magic! Thank you folks.

a brilliant daughter of a brilliant father!

NY Phil… let’s do it!!!
Hadn't looked at this before, and my comment only a few bars in was "She can do it. She can do ****ing anything." That's our Shaye!
Three years later and still the best
What a Lovely cool piece... Ty guys for this
Thank you John. A special interpretation, a gift for the "senses " and creates empathy with jazz. From Argentina at the end of the world greeting
So great Shaye with her dad playing together.

So nice to hear such beautiful music 💜💜
So great. Joe is the best. His kid is okay, too. ;) Such a nice, comfortable vibe here.
Al Cohn really started something, great talents
Al Cohn was said to be Stan Getz’s favourite tenor player.
…a beautiful girl with other talents…what a concept!…amaaazing…
Could listen to this all day, thank you
Like me !! Her special jazz-sound from New Orleans. It's real !!
Magnifique!
Zaid Nasser has a lovely tone here.
Best stuff I’ve heard my whole life 😎🎶✌️
Wonderful.
Guau, Shaye con su padre e interpretando un Jazz más contemporáneo que su repertorio habitual y con su padre además. Excelente grupo. Felicitaciones!!
So wonderful!
Thanks for sharing this
I'm sure Shaye can play any style of music there is!!
Yes, I should have known better lol
I believe she is a classically trained pianist from Boston...I'm pretty sure...
Nothing like connecting musically with the person you love the most in the world.
Love to hear Shaye in a small group and her dad is a pretty good guitar player.
So Good, 'Sts Wonderful!!!
this lady is really talented.
She is !! Her beautiful sound and improvisations. I get cold of it !
Sooo nice; Joe Cohn can be truly proud of his daughter!
And we of them....
she is the conductor of her Dad's group too❣ He must be an awfully proud papa
I'm sure. She is and he is !!
Beautiful
Very nice, more of that please.

That was magical
SUPER!

Great alto sax player
Question: And what was your greatest contribution in life?
Answer: I ensured my children learned and loved music to last a lifetime.
great tune, and I have never seen that finger technique on the guitar
Something like Django's fingering.
💓 Shaye 💓👏👏👏 🇮🇹
Interesting delicate piece. anyone know the bassist? light touch he wields- perfect for that song.
I think it’s Rob Adkins

She dont need .......a vocoder or squirted lips ......she is a real talent
"Not yet"
Where did her Dad learn to play?
I believe his father was a famous jazz musician (Al Cohn).
Where is Tamar Korn?
She sat that number out.
@@JohnDodds36 So the title is clickbait.
